Crytek has only 46 to fully optimise Crysis.

Let me just go out and say from what I played the game totally has the potential to be awesome if it werent for theterrible it'soptimization (Yes I have passed the recommended requirements). Yes its still the beta but think about when Crysis is actually going to ship in stores.

Crysis releases on Nov 15 which is around 46 days from now until it actually releases and many remain skeptical on how its going to work out or just how much of a difference the actual retail version will be compared to the beta.

Interesting, this game could go one way or another between now and it's launch day.. Insert your thoughs.

These days it seems people are confusing beta with demo. Its just a testing phase. Of course its not optimized.

Nope. Some people would rather spend money on Yop. Have you seen the Yop commercials with the funny song?

Oh no, im not confusing the term beta with demo but what I am saying is if Crytek can keep their promise on an fully optimized game given the amount of time they have from here to launch.

The consolites really need to learn what a "beta" really is. PC betas are different from console betas. They're purely for debugging and testing because there are so many different hardware configurations the game has to run on. It is NOWHERE NEAR the quality of the demo or final game. A new beta client has been released and it's muuuuch more optimized and less buggy than the last. This is how PC betas work. Stop complaining. The WiC beta ran like crap on my PC, but the final game runs perfectly fine.

This. Beta is not a current build of the game, they are still working on that one, and beta isn't what they have so far. *face palm @ JiveT btw*

it better be optimized cause i didnt pass the requirements to play the beta and even if i did i couldnt really play it that well :P

blame it on my nvidia 7600 since i have 2 gigs o ram and a quad core processor. should have gotten a 512mb card sooner.

Stop, I actually came from the PC background and yes I know what the term"beta" is. Learn that WiC's beta started months before the actual game release and note that when I was playing the closedbeta it ran silky smooth but now given my first experience with the Crysis beta which only has mere days from this point doesnt it worry you at the least that you wont experience an optimized game like Crytek claimed they would make?

No, I'm not worried at all. Like I said, the WiC beta ran like crap for me, while it ran pretty good for others. Betas are like that, including Crysis'. Some people are running it just fine. Others aren't. Some people don't have the new Nvidia 163.71 drivers, which improve performance greatly, as well as the new beta client, yet are complaining. How many betas have you been in before?

Betas will be different from game to game. Have you been in many betas? because it is common knowledge that betas are no indication of the final game that file planet(beta hoggers imo) state this in their FAQ. I have posted this excerpt many times before but I guess I have to remind people now that the beta was open to non subscribers.

What is a Beta?

A beta is a pre-release test of a game. This is when the Developer needs your help to squish any game bugs. This is pre-demo as well. So it is in fact the rawest form of the game.

Keep your expectations in check. It is by no means meant to exemplify what you can expect in the actual game. You are being called upon to do a job, to intentionally break the game so they can ensure the final product is the best it can be!

This is also why we encourage you to comply with the requests of the Developer. They need you to help them test, not just demo the game and judge. It's time to help your fellow gamers and give it your all!

Where did I mention Halo 3 in that post? I'm talking about console betas in general. There's a huge different between PC and console betas. It seems you haven't been in many betas for either.

It still doesnt change the fact that Crysis still needs to undergo some major optimizing in an limited time.

Ive been in WiC's, ive beta'ed several Blizzard games (WoW and TFT), Battlefield 2142, Guild Wars, Quake Wars and a couple others that I cant remember but that adds up to 6 pc betas.

It's an MP beta, their main concern atm is the netcode, balance and debugging for the multiplayer aspect of the game. When the SP demo comes out you will see a hell of a lot of difference than that of the beta.

BTW the multiplayer is awesome even at this early stage :D

edit: You do know the optimisation e.g the things like multicore support has been left out of the beta right?

I was just about to post about the multicore support being left out. That right there shows you that beta is not a recent build of the game. If you are looking for what the final game will play like on your machine, the SP demo will be it. According to the recent interview it will be.

excerpt: Mocib: Will the SP demo be a full 1:1 representation of the quality of the retail version i.e. is it "fully featured", technology wise? DX9+DX10, highest res textures and so on? Also, will the SP demo feature a benchmark mode?

CrySeb: We plan to have all of this answered with a 'yes!' when the demo comes out.

If I remember correctly if Crytek catches wind of this, you could be obligated to pay the entire development cost of the game, I might be confusing it with other ndas however.

Why do you need it optimized? Can't you just buy a new video card?

JiveT

lol almost sig worthy. Well would you like to spend 800$ upgrading ur comp to play, hmmm let me see 1 GAME!!! I know I wouldnt, I upgraded my comp around a year ago and its already out of date compared to crysis's requirements, I can run it smoothly on low and a a bit laggy but still playable on media, high ish. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of getting the game if you cant even play on high. I personally think crytek made a huge mistake making crisis, think about it. Realistically, not that many people have computers good enough to play it and make the game worthwhile. They will not make much of a profit and this might even discourage them from making a game like this in the future. If they waiting for a time when the requirements wernt so expensive to fulfill, then maybe they would do better.

lol almost sig worthy. If they waiting for a time when the requirements wernt so expensive to fulfill, then maybe they would do better.

how many times do we need to go trough this, over 13million 8800's have been sold, thats a pretty big public that can run the game on high to ultra high settings

If the demo is poorly optimised then I would worry about it, but since its a beta I am not too worried. I must say that I am having a hell of a time with the beta. I tried the game on low even though I can still run it on medium or high and it was really fun so that just goes to show how good the gameplay is and kind of kills the typical reaction people have to this game "all graphics and no gameplay".

i didnt even meet minimum and i have a 7600, quad core and 2 gigs of ram. i think its my 7600 hundred though since it only has 256 mb. i wish i were you. i wouldnt mind playing crysis on all low. it'll still look pretty good.

Yeah, the mp beta is amazing, gameplay AND graphics-wise. I mean, what was the last MP shooter you saw with animals jumping and running around? :D

so sure you sound like you work for Crytek. People have a reason to be skeptical, if it does the job, then we dont bash it, if it doesnt perform, dont make excuses.
