GamesIndustry.biz posted the last part of their Q&A session with Crytek CEO and President Cevat Yerli. This time the focus is on consoles as Cevat tells about Crytek's plans to develop games for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. It is also revealed that they have a small development team for the Nintendo Wii but, at the moment, it's only for testing purposes.

"PC and 360 are in one room. The PS3 room is separate because we have some secret technologies being developed there which are not related to CryEngine 2. Our PS3 development is going deeper than many people assume right now."

"Nintendo Wii is certainly on the radar. We will do something for Nintendo Wii - the question is when. I think some time maybe in three or four years, but nobody knows when."

That technology is already announced ... well part of it, on the incrysis website ... and will be possible with Quad/Octo Core PC CPU's in the future.

For example, Particle effects / Explosions on 1 core ... when than core is overloaded ... usually the entire games framerate will dip ... but now with this project, the only things that will slow down are the particle effects and explosions, while the player and anythign else on the other cores maintain thier normal speed ...

granted it will looks silly with explosions slowing down while your at full speed, but its a good improvement in techonology.

Could he be hinting a Crysis port? It's not that surprising, considering Far Cry went to the XBOX.

Crytek are frankly making the smartest choice of any developer right now. They certianly aren't cutting of any sort revenue by supporting everything they can. Frankly, in order to survive now you either need to be fully devoted to all platforms.

If you read that full article they say that its still not possible ... and that it would 100% be a spin-off ... but nothing is planned ...

something the TC decided to leave out

interesting how he said they're implementing a technology for the PS3 that will only be possible on future PC CPUs...

could it be a hint that the PS3 has indeed more power, but it's still latent, unscratched?

No, it just already has 8 cores to take care of it ... while only Duo cores are standard on PCs at the moment...

Those 2 cores are better all-round ...

You are wrong though, having more cores isnt advanced, the reason PC's dont have that many cores (well except the ones running custom CPU's like Cells) is because well, on every new set comes with new/better/faster/larger architecture ...

For example .. the Core 2 Duos are not simple 2 Pentium 4s ... they are a whole new architecture which is well beyond the P4s ... so will the next quads, and eventually the octocores ...

In which case the Cell has flaws , while the PC's doesnt ... Cell wasnt designed soecifcly for gaming and is not more advanced ... its jsut capable of a newly developed feature, due to the way it works.

The cell inside the ps3 has 7SPEs and 1 is reserved for the OS that makes a total of 6SPEs.who is the illogical here?

BTW my QuadCore >> the cell.

adv = advantage...btw neways what ur saying may be true, but the devs are using the cell in a way that allows it to work well for gaming with its many cores, i dunno waht ur argueing about with me ether lol

you're talking like you have some knowlegde on hardware specifics and programming. so, i'd assume you know that the duo cores are better for general purpose processing. the Cell is way better for every specific, vector processing and parallel processing operations. general purpose, in case of games, is an advantage when you're talking about AI. but the Cell is better for vector processing, which is great for physics, sounds and gfx, also the parallel processing methods that can be implemented makes the final performance ratio exponentially better. that way you can fix the AI issue with the proper coding. you do know those things don't you?

Like I said, it has its advanages, and disadvantages, you can tell by the games that you see coming on the PS3 that what you say is correct but no, my knowledge is pretty limited, thats the learning process , but the official write up is on the Incrysis website.

For your information, Far Cry on the PC was a totally different game than on XBOX. Far Cry was not ported, it was a new IP with the same name on the XBOX.

Could he be hinting a Crysis port? It's not that surprising, considering Far Cry went to the XBOX.

For your information, Far Cry on the PC was a totally different game than on XBOX. Far Cry was not ported, it was a new IP with the same name on the XBOX.

Difference between Far Cry and Instincts=Feral Powers in Instincts, Different Story, No Open-Ended gameplay on Xbox.

No HUGE differences it's still a Far Cry..Maybe the 360 version is called Crysis: Feelings lol.

AI is still very smart in FC: Instincts anyways it still pretty much follow the roots of the original FC.

No, it doesn't. It takes away what made FC so great, it's open-ended gameplay.

well i dunno the PS3 exclusive, but i guess farcry 2 pc/360, though with downgrade on 360. also the ps3 exclusive engine migth be able to urn on PC, but youd need a powerful one, than agian programing fo rhte cell is much diffrent fomr normal PC, so we'll see in the end wont we

FarCry 2 is being made by Ubisoft, not Crytek and it's only for the PC, as confirmed today by GS. Ubisoft wants to reclaim themselves as PC devs again.

It did, but it didn't stop FC: Instincts from being a really good game, now did it?

i don't know... i strongly believe they'll release a game for the PS3 if it's coming to 360 since they were hiring ppl with porting experience for the PS3. but since they are building a unique engine for the PS3, maybe some games would be PS3 exclusives... maybe that means they don't want to port games to the PS3 and only build them the ground up for it.

Did I ever say that? You can't compare FarCry to FC:Instincts. They're two completely different games made by different developers.
