I actually like Sony's games the best because they generally don't force me to play online with people like you.

You could just find a new hobby I guess.

I wonder if the "outrage culture" fad is ever going to pass.

Nope to many snowflakes in this world today. If you don't think exactly like them you are automatically wrong and they wont listen to anything else. The snowflake culture is a terrible thing and it is only going to get worse.

This was one of the better years of gaming in my opinion. All consoles are selling well, many great games, and it looks like competition between Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony is at an all time high. This is only a good thing for gamers!

"Blockbuster" AAA gaming has largely been a shit show for a while now man, at least compared to what it used to be.

But good/great AAA titles do still come around every so often. Then of course you have the rest of the industry churning out so many good games that it's impossible to keep up.

Would be cool to see AAA gaming somehow revert to what we had before, but I'm not too bothered about it either.

Too many good games to play as is.

This was one of the better years of gaming in my opinion. All consoles are selling well, many great games, and it looks like competition between Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony is at an all time high. This is only a good thing for gamers!

I don't really like the usage of the word "snowflake" as it can often be used as a dismissive term applied to people who aren't exuding an ignorant macho attitude towards all things in life and might be somewhat more thoughtful and, god forbid, sensitive. And the term also gives me a homophobic vibe that I find repulsive so I don't use it. But people are too closed minded as you imply and they do sometimes tend to enjoy being outraged disproportionately to whatever the perceived slight may be. It's a real problem.

The main problem I have in terms of the gamers on the internet is their unbelievable negativity to all things associated to their supposed hobby they enjoy. It has become a farce. Every game that comes out is shitted on and very little time is spent discussing the good points of a game. I have played video games since the late 70's and I have never thought games were better than they are right now. Yes there is a lot of crap and publishers are greedy (as they have always been). But as a whole things have never been better and 2017 has been amazing. I would like all the whiney, complaining man-children to give up gaming right now and leave it to those who actually like it and are mature enough to discus it without the miserable and continuous trolling. It's sad how many miserable and terrible people there are in this online video game world we live in. I feel bad for them but mostly I just want them to fuckoff already.

I have a lot of forums and this is just one of many. Does it not make sense that a person who thinks video games are terrible and likely to get worse should just quit playing them?

"That's just as ridiculous."

What is as ridiculous as what? I don't understand what you are saying.

He's got complaints about an industry going downhill faster than water... Well, wait. We've got complaints about an industry going downhill faster than water -since you're involving everyone who is angry now with the 'outrage culture'- and you think that if you don't like it you should just give up on it? Well I think that's ridiculous. We're trying to do something about it. We're complaining, boycotting, pushing critics to take these things seriously, having discussion video's on YouTube, review bombing, attorneys who love gaming are angry about it. I'm going to try and get people to continuously ask them about loot boxes and microtransactions whenever they say something. Some of these things they're doing are not just shitty but even illegal and we've got some working on that front. I don't want people to give up on something they love just because some corporate bigshots are dragging this industry, bigger than movies at the moment, into hell. Come on, man. It's not too late.

We're at a cliff. The industry looked over the edge and saw hundreds of millions of profit down in the unethical abyss. Right now they have slowed down their pace, but they want to jump off. Don't you think that's likely? We have big publishers stating that every future game they publish will have these systems in it. They are ready to jump. I think that's worth complaining about.

@ConanTheStoner: This year has amassed a backlog for me that exists of games entirely from this year. That doesn't happen very often. :P

I still have Steamworld Dig 2, Nioh and Samus Returns on my queue. :P

@lifelessablaze: bannas use to have seeds in them. If food gets worse over time what makes you think games wont ?

Just live with the pros and cons. As annoying as todays gaming industry is we should be glad its still evolving.

I guess i should take my own advice to tho.. cuase complaining about this has been the norm since forever.

Ill take this thread as a sighn the industry is doing just fine. Its when nothings seems wrong that ill start to worry.

Imagine life without your body needing to use your pain recepters (loots box analogy )

That whens somethings up. The gaming community and industry are doing there job as usual.

Basically.

Thankfully there are smaller studios making awesome games. In a world where AAA is going down the tubes there are more awesome games to play than ever.

I agree that Sony has been boring for years now, but 2017 has been one of the best years in gaming. How can something be in shambles when its arguably the best its ever been?

Ubisoft and Bethesda have been publishing some good stuff this year, and haven't been as egregious with their microtransactions/lootboxes as others.

I thought I was totally burnt out on open world games but ended up enjoying Ghost Recon and Assassins Creed quite a bit. For Honor I didn't care for, but I respect Ubi for at least taking a risk and trying something new.

Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2 were both solid games published by Bethesda.

You mean games like Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon, Infamous SS, The Last Guardian, Resogun, Gravity Rush 2, Gran Turismo Sport, Ghost of Tsushima?

GoT has no gameplay but it's Sucker Punch and SP has always delivered in the gameplay department with Sly and Infamous

Yeah... so many movie games...

@KungfuKitten: I'm no fan of loot boxes. They make the game much less fun to play in many cases and I would never spend money on them. I don't care if they are gambling or not because I am not some puritanical crusader against gambling. Games focussed on them tend to not be my kind of game. It's greedy and should be spoke out against but the OP goes well beyond just complaining about loot boxes and into typical "the sky is falling" troll hysteria and does it during one of the best years for games we have ever seen.

Good thing there are thousands of games already out that are worth playing. I won't be buying next gen machines
