Customer service has been a big thing for me when getting a new console and should be for anyone who runs into problems and i must say after talking with MS employees i feel disgraced that i bought a 360 not that i don't love it but they gave me pathetic help tips IE "Is your console plugged into the wall?" Now at times they've helped but i find it lacks at times and feel like they do it half a$$ed.

But when i spoke to Sony i found i got a much more reliable service sometimes bad sometimes good. But throughout the conversations they stayed on the line with me until my problems were solved making sure it was ok and even cracking a joke or two here and there, i don't know what everyone else thinks but i found the Customer Service at Sony much betterand feel maybe MS has some good priorities and can do a good job and i didn't get that, what does everyone else think if you've talked to both MS and/or Sony?

well I have bad expierences from ps2 days with Sony, considering they made me pay to repair 3 ps2's that got DRE. While MS at least owned up to the RROD. Although I think at this point in time they both offer good service, some people don't understand that these people spend all day dealing with complaints, so a little kindness towards them, goes a long way for you.

oh and the key phrase for getting something free out of any company is "I'm dissapointed, is there anything you can do?"

Yea but im usually nice as i know but i talked to this one guy at MS named Patrick and he was a total jerk to me for no reason, and i tried being nice but he was just really unhelpful same thing with sony not waving a flag for them either as some guys at Sony have been jerks but i've found more-so with Sony at times to have recieved full and great Service.

Your gonna run into jerks, no matter the company, thats just how it is, I think comparing Customer Service vs Customer Service is kinda pointless. Because you aren't going to get the person I will, and thus the whole expierence could be different. But both do a great job normally.

Well, i havent had to talk to Sony about my PS3 yet, but my MS customer service has been pretty good. there was one incident when the person was kind of being a bastard and i just said "would you stop assuming you know what my problem is and just listen to me so that we both can finish up this call?" that caught him off guard and he apologized and all was good after that :D

I've talked 5 times with MS customer service once excellent, 3 good and 1 downright awful (I hate to be sexist here but it was the only time I dealt with a lady and she didn't have a ****ing clue what she was doing, I even had to talk her through some parts). So thats not a bad record.

I've only had to use Microsoft's Customer Service once, and I found it quick and relatively painless. The trick is to start the conversation with "I've already unplugged and replugged everything". It's fairly quick after that.

I hate to say this, but if the Microsoft Help people hear your voice, and you dont sound white. They will act racist/hangup or barely help you. Just keep transfering you from one tech to another until you hang up.

The Microsoft brand is filled with racist people from the south east. I don't know why, since 25% of the US Sells are bought by us hispanics/latinos. 10-15% by the african americans, and rest is diversed.

Me personally, i never had a problem with any tech, because if anyone gives me any BS, i'll keep calling and callign until i speak with their bosses. I do through phone, and through emails until everyone realizes how badly i got treated and apoligize.

By the way, if you have suffered through the BS microsoft support, just say how badly this has made you feel etc, keep milking it. They'll send you free stuff. LOL (a friend did this, not me. lol)

I also read here on gamespot forums they told a english guy to go back to europe lol.

About sony, i don't know.

But i do know this, the Nintendo tech support is excellent. Very friendly. I had a problem with my Parental lock on the wii system, they went out of their way to help me with every little thing. Very friendly. :)

Microsoft tech support 3/10

Sony ?/?

Nintendo 10/10

Microsoft has probably the worst customer service I've ever dealt with for any consumer product. Rude, non-native english speaking reps and long wait times. I've never had to deal with Sony's Customer Service but considering how bad Microsoft treated me I'd guess Sony has better. Nintendo on the other hand has the best customer service I've ever dealt with for any consumer product.
It's funny how Nintendo is a Japanese company but they have friendly native english speaking customer reps and the turn around time to recieve warrantied items has been less then a week both times that I used my warranty on Nintendo products. Microsoft on the other hand is the american company and yet they have trouble shipping products in a timely manner in their own country and apparantly do not like hiring customer services reps from their own country as they're mostly Indian.

this is the reason you don't buy consoles are prebuilt pcs. when you build your own pc you don't have these problems to deal with, you just take the part back and they will replace it

about MS customer service

"Microsoft tech support, they called Brian back to see if his problem had been resolved. Are they just that backed up? Latent Y2K error? Phishing attempt? The truth is much more banal, and potentially, more frightening. See if you can figure out the solution before continuing on to the answer...

Here's what happened. The original call was placed on January 7th, 1998. The rep meant to put in a note to have someone call Brian back the next day, but instead of typing "1/8/98" they probably typed "1/8/08." Most likely because 9 and 0 are right next to each other on the computer keyboard and their finger slipped. The result? A followup call a decade late!

Imagine all sorts of the fun mistakes customer service reps can make just by mess up one digit...."

In Australia, Sony will stay with you until you have fixed a problem or will get you to send it in, but they will never admit to you that its a fault of the console (my wifi broke on the ps3, the guy said i cant confirm that its a problem with the ps3's wifi). generally they are nice and helpful. Microsoft on the other hand prefer to get you to call them back or will give you the case number and a solution and the response of "if that doesnt work get back to us". But they at least admit that the console is at fault

My Sony experience was alright when my PS2 started acting up. Phone call, instructions to mail it and where, sent it, got a brand new one back just under 2 weeks later.

Gonna be seeing if my Xbox experience goes as smoothly. My 360 is scratching my discs (or maybe I decided to play games with it standing up ;) who knows?) and I'm sending it away in a couple of days. Hopefully they'll replace my game and fix my broken console.

Sony's customer service is outsanding. I called in during the Christmas Season, and in peak times they responded quickly, it was like 15 minutes. The guy even stayed on the line while I was checking something out, and helped me out.

They saved me a lot of hassle.

MS customer support is terrible. You tell them private chat isn't working and they ask if your using an Xbox or a 360.

Im not going to defend ms here, hell their cutomer service is almost as bad as future shops, but I would bet half the people here complaining about MS service never owned a 360.

I would say MS, only because they managed to own up to their problems (unlike Sony and the various issues with the PS1 and PS2. Plus their IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is somewhat amusing.

MSs customer service is pretty good (for Australia)

I was on the phone to them for about 15 mins today - to get a coffin for my RROD 360 - and the bloke on the phone was well mannered, and helpful.

Still I havent been called my first name so many times in years.... not that its a bad thing.

I think if customer service doesnt ask you if your console is plugged to the wall for 360 then they are not trained.

What if that was the problem? then it helps you troubleshoot and his or her boss will see that he or she takes too much time to solve small things. It's all about procedures... ITIL maybe??

I have dealt with all 3 and Nintendo's is by far the best. It's like talking to another gamer, not a person with a script to read.

I already posted but to elaborate on why Nintendo Customer Service is so excellent. It's 3 things:

1) Wait time until your call gets picked up. The first time I called Nintendo there was a couple of minutes of waiting. The second time, no waiting at all, the phone rang and someone picked up. Microsoft on the other hand Im on hold for at least half an hour and the worst was one time where I was on hold for over an hour.

2) Customer Service Reps. I've had to call twice and both times it was a really nice english speaking rep. One of them was a guy who sounded like he was a gamer and the other was this really nice girl. They gave me no hassle at all. Microsoft has indian reps who come off as rude at times and often make me feel like I'm doing something wrong by wanting to get my system fixed.

3) I sent two items to Nintendo and got replacements within a week of sending out the originals. Microsoft took about a month to send me a refurbished 360. Unless the system gets repaired there is no reason it should take this long. You recieve a broken system, test it out, if it's not going to be repaired just send back a refurbished or new one. Why does that take weeks to happen? I know one reason is that Nintendo has regional repair offices for quicker delivery times, mines is in Syracuse which is the next state over. For Microsoft I had to send my system to West Virgina which probably adds 1-2 days for both arrival and delivery. That may not sound like a big deal but it's those little touches that makes Nintendo Customer Service so awesome.

and PS3 support is awesome,. my PS3 broke, they sent out a new one to my door 2 days later. I just gave them the broken one. It was very swift :D

MS is the worst i have ever dealt with. called them up becasue my disc tray just opens whenever it wants even when running a game. this was is august that they said i was still under warrany and that they will send the box to ship. i am still waiting for the box. even called them back to confirm it being sent they told me yes. i still dont have the box and my disc tray does what ever it wants. then with live all jacked up why do i even keep this piece of crap machine. thats why i am getting a ps3 in FEB.

That reminds me of another reason why Nintendo's Customer Service kicks Microsoft's arse. Microsoft expects you to wait for a box to send it in. Nintendo e-mails you a pre-paid shipping label which you take down to Fedex where they will package your system and send it out. Literally an hour after I had made my call I had my Wii on it's way. Microsoft on the other hand wants you to wait for a box to arrive from their repair center which is about 10 times as far as the Nintendo repair center because Microsoft is too cheap to open regional repair centers then you have to send your system again about 10 times as far and wait weeks to have them send it back to you. From the minute I placed my call to when I recieved my Wii I waited about 6 days. For my 360 I waited about a month.
