As a fan of the Neptunia series, it brings me great news to say the newest entry has receive positive reviews & praises as we speak:

I'm a fan of the hyperdimension neptunia re;birth 1-3 but the last few games haven't been as good and a lot of the spinoffs are just bad games that not debatable

I don't think the actual combat looks interesting. They should have stayed at the turn based system of the main titles or made a new SRPG title. Heck, I would even rather take the gameplay from U again. But well, let's see how it turns out, maybe I'm wrong ^^ I'll probably get it

Is this RPG game actually good? as in not just the loli, super kawaii & ecchi stuff...see mostly positive reviews on Steam...lol...but unsure whether its worth trying out.

Overall, the series is very engaging and has beautiful visuals, average voice acting, and a very rewarding battle system. Even the original first game for PS3 was a good game. People keep telling me it was a bad game, but I enjoyed it. Even as my first Neptunia, and I continued the series. Sure, the gameplay is very different in the first game... but its a good game still. Anyway, I would recommend rebirth1 for Vita or Victory for PS3 as first game. It doesn't matter in which order it get played, because every installment of the series is isolated from the others.

Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online on the other hand is just a spin-off, nothing wrong going with this first if you like to.

The series is mostly average. Sure it varies from title to title a bit, but overall it's just average. Nothing more, nothing less. I did enjoy most of the games. They can't compete with the good ones, but they can keep you busy between the releases of the good titles ;)

I was surprised with the ESRB "T" (Teen) rating for this game. Were past games "M" rated?

Gotta give Compile Heart some credit, their Neptunia games have started to improve themselves after the rebirth games, so it's nice to see it getting good reviews. Also congrats on getting you're name change from Killered. Still waiting for my name to be change to Vitali :(

Never understood where the whole "little girl" thing came from considering the series is pretty known for directly poking fun at that exact trope. I play this series because I like its battle system, old-school references, witty dialogue and unique style. It's a different JRPG than the standard Final Fantasy copycats we get all the time.

And you Xbox fanboys always say we don't talk about games, well this thread is one of those games and I'm talking about it!

The series has always been "T" Teen rating. There's no Blood & Gore to warrant a "M" rating.

Vert's massive cleavage was more than enough a reason for the M rating. The series is notorious for fan service moments, remember? I can't forget how many baths the girls took in Megadimension Neptunia VII.

I am not getting this right now as I have other stuff I'm interested in and slightly burned out on the series, probably in a few months or so though.

@davillain- mk2 was M-rated. I think because of CFW Trick. Vita version is teen, not sure if they toned him down in it or ESRB rating standards changed.

I think it's seedy and I wonder about some of the grown men who idolise these characters. Not just in this game, but others. Ive seen 10000 year old demonesses who just happen to look like 8 year old girls, but sexualised. Just no.

"Technically legal" doesn't cut it with me. Some guys need to grow up.

But at least for this case, little girls AREN'T being sexualized. The only fan service they do involves the mature, transformed versions of the characters. And even that is few and far in between. What this really is, is passing judgement on something without actually seeing it.

I just said that minors aren't being sexualized at all in Neptunia! It's a simple game series about nonstop parodies. An anime game that makes fun of anime games and annoying plot tendencies. If sexualized little girls is what you get out of it then you completely missed the entire point of it!

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy playing those games. But don't act like the sexualization of the characters doesn't exist. I really don't care much when playing it. I do like it for the gameplay mainly and am not offended by the stupid story (with sexual innuendos btw) and sexualization of both, their normal and CPU forms. I don't see what's wrong with it though. Sexualized content is everywhere, from movies to music videos to YouTube videos. It seems to work quite well.

For people who go for that sort of thing, sure, but I'm not one of those people. I don't go for huge boobs and butts. To me, those are useless additions to a game such as Neptunia series. Overall, the series is very engaging and has beautiful visuals.

Also, I dont understand why people are always picking on big boobs or whatever, like THEY would be the reason we are playing games like this. o_o

@davillain-: Yeah it's pretty stupid to assume people are only playing those games because of the sexualization. It's just something that comes with some japanese games. I'm pretty neutral towards it. I don't bother if it has it but I'm not going to buy a game just because of fanservice.

It's not, you'd have to play the game to know and whatever you do see focuses on the mature characters. They rarely ever focus on Neptune herself but the other characters which are considerably older looking. Neptune and Blanc are the only childlike characters that even exist in the game, aside from Plutia but she only appeared twice. There is fan service but it only happens when they tranform into their goddess forms. The goddess form of Neptune is the one standing to the right on that picture. Notice how she's showing alot more than the human form who is completely covered up.

Whata re you drinking? the other characters are OLDER looking? Did you actually play any of the sequels? Nepgear, Ram, Rom and Uni all look young than Neptune herself. Also K-Sha, B-Sha, Peashy and Histoire look at the same age at a maximum, at least not "considerably older".

And no, the fan service is all over the place. You can look below the skirts of every character at all times, the literally attack in a way you can see their panties all the time.

Can't you at least be honest and agree that there is sexualization of minor looking girls? You might not play the game because of it, but it is there.

And don't give me the "you haven't played the games" bulls***. Check out my profile. I actually plated several of them on PSN, including the extremely stupid recent title which chronically is 4, but since 3 was V it's V-II which they then called VII.

Nepgear, Rom and Ram only came in Mk II. They are the little sisters. K-sha and B-sha only existed in Megadimension Neptunia VII. Peashy only existed in Hyperdimension Neptunia 3. Also no to all of that minor sexualization of little girl stuff.

I know my Neptunia like the back of my hand and you can call it whatever you want but it DOES NOT sexualize minors. Maybe other games are guilty of it but Neptunia isn't one of them.

You wanna know why it's impossible to look up the characters' skirts at all times? Because Neptunia doesn't have good cloth physics. Like Dead or Alive where it's upskirt bonanza allday. Even if you try to position the gameplay camera so that it looks upskirt, you still won't see anything. You would be lucky if you could get a quarter of a flash. Histoire is also an NPC, she's only meant to guide the main cast. Even if you play as her as the dlc in Neptunia 3, she's stuck on the book so a panty shot would be impossible.

The characters have bodacious goddess forms, this where all the fan service goes to. Maybe you'll see a small bloop like that picture you showed there but that was never the sole focus of the game.

Also, anything like camera mode doesn't count since all of that goes to the player. If you choose to look up Uni's skirt in Action Unleashed or Blanc + Neptune vs Zombies then that's on you.
