First off, lolTAKU.

Kotaku has reported that there's a reasonable amount of 3DS owners who have damaged their 3DS systems while playing Smash Bros. The Circle pad is being broken off.

LINKY

I saw this one coming. That circle pad isn't good for a game like Smash Bros in my opinion.

Waiting for Wii U release.

I'm always afraid I'm gonna do that.

Sucks for them though.

It's terrible. Not just the rubber piece is coming off- the ENTIRE circle pad is breaking off.

I always hate, despite how much I cut them, that it feels like my nail is gonna dig into the Circle Pad and leave a mark in it. This is only worse.

The 3DS is a cheap piece of hardware, everyone knows that. It's got Fisher Price written all over it.

@arkephonic: Like all Nintendo products right. Nintendo consoles are known to be returned all the time, because they make cheap ass hardware lol Do name a Ninty console that had a history of some type of failure.

Anyways. It may be a problem for some 3DS owners, but we'll see. I'll believe when i actually see it.

Sucks for those guys....but honestly if you mash the hell out of it like a child...then don't be surprised. You can play smash on it perfectly fine and have it not break if you just learned how to properly play.

yea.. a lot of people get too excited when playing video games.

i remember when my cousins would come over to play NES they would break my controller in 1 day.

some people just press too hard on buttons.

That sucks for 3DS gamers.

Before this news, I had resolved to buy this game on Wii U anyways for the 4 player local play. This only reinforces my earlier commitment to the Wii U version. I still have a SSB 3DS demo code I have yet to use. I should get around to doing that, lol.

Yes, usually, if you abuse your hardware, it breaks. This is not the 3DS's fault, it's your fault if you are literally smashing your analog sliders when simple flicks register.

Same. Why couldn't they map the directional pad for movement with this game on 3DS?

smash has a mini hop and a full hop....you cant do it with a dpad.

also walk...and run isnt doable on a dpad also.

the difference between regular side attack and smash attack not on dpad too.

but wtf did half these people do to get their D-pad to look that messed up?!
Is their skin like sandpaper?

It's this reason that I was already not planning to buy it on the 3DS.

But after playing the demo, It also has to do with the circle pad simply not being fun to use for this game anyways, and the button layout not feeling right.

An issue with the user, not the hardware.

These are the kind of people I don't trust sharing my electronics with. They are careless and have hands filled with doritos cheese.

Maybe Nintendo should throw in a tube of super glue with the game...

I don't see how that's possible... You can't dash dance or perform any advanced tech that would (conceivably) put strain on the circle pad. This hearkens back to early Wii owners who played darts with their Wii remote and TV.

Please. It's not that easy to break your circle pad. What are these people doing to it?! This is coming from someone who tends to be quite rough with his controllers...

Can you use the d-pad? I hope so. I much prefer this myself when I can use a d-pad instead of analog for certain games, and yeah I worried about this too, also worried in certain Bayonetta 1 & 2 analog QTEs wearing out my GamePad's analogs prematurely.

I learned my lesson with analog thrashing during the arm wrestling competition in GTA IV's Lost and Damned arm wrestling events, it messed up the analog on my controller in no time at all.

I'm shocked they weren't breaking when kid icarus uprising was released. That game demanded intense use of the circle pad.

This.

If your 3DS survived Kid Icarus, it can definitely survive Smash Bros.

Mine certainly didn't. The smashes and all the dashing around left and right made mine come off in 30 minutes.

Lol my kids an I have played the demo all weekend and our 3DS's are still in working order. Some of these looks like the owner was chewing on it..
