And nowhere in that link does it say "Hack & Slash" has anything to do with not rewarding you for button mashing. Your move.tagyhag
What do you mean by this? Your use of double negative made your post a bit confusing to understand.

So what you are telling me, is that I must go by YOUR definition of Hack & Slash, I'm assuming that it's YOUR definition of course since you have shown NO evidence as to where you have gotten the definition. Your opinion ⊁my opinion.[QUOTE="tagyhag"][QUOTE="moistsandwich"]
In the definition of "clouds" does it say anything about them NOT being rocks? I guess we can conclude that since they didn't rule it out, that clouds do have rocks in them... huh?

OMG DUDE.... YOU are the one who posted the wiki link to show me what "Hack & Slash" means... you proved yourself wrong and myself right with the link that YOU gave. We already covered this... next time make sure that the link you provide actually supports your claims, rather than proving them wrong.
I think what you're trying to say is a GOOD hack'n'slash does not reward button mashing. There are hack'n'slash games that reward it, directly or indirectly, but they're not good for it. Any genre can have a flaw to it among certain games, similar to how an RPG can reward players for not using strategy, contrary to what we expect from an RPG. Similar concept. You're right in a point of view, just need to choose your words better. So what you are telling me, is that I must go by YOUR definition of Hack & Slash, I'm assuming that it's YOUR definition of course since you have shown NO evidence as to where you have gotten the definition. Ugh, but you're not telling me how it proved me wrong. You originally said that "The definition of hack & slash is NOT... a game that rewards button mashing."
Now I understand that some games are like that (NG/Bayonetta/DMC)
But this is what wiki said "Hack and slash or hack and slay refers to a type of gameplay that emphasizes close combat with short-range weapons."
But what about GOW?
What about Dynasty Warriors?
Do these games NOT emphasize close combat with short-range weapons? Do these games NOT emphasize button mashing?

So GoW's combat is amazing and original in what ways exactly? Prior to this gen did you only own a PS2?
1st question is rhetorical... I've played through GoW I & II, fun games for the most part.... but certainly nothing revolutionary when combat is concerned.

I never said GOW was amazing. Just that DI was an exact ripoff because it is.
I agree 100% it absolutely is a ripoff.... so how is it that GoW is sooooo amazing, and DI is such crap? Perhaps you are not one of the people claiming GoW's superiority... I can't tell by your original reply to me, since the sentence doesn't indicate anything other than you believe GoW's combat to be original.
WHich is WRONG!
I never said DI was crap. Where did I say that? Also I never said GOW was originalThey should have copied the superior NG instead. The game's gameplay was good, but unpolished overall. themyth01Well in this case, if you were going to copy something commercially successful which one would you choose?
I can't wait to get my hands on this game tuesday. Unlike many of you, I'm not comparing this game to anything and am just going to enjoy it for what it will be, a good game. Seriously, this attitude that a game has to be completely original to be any fun is disturbing.
People didn't want it to be 'completely' original game. People wanted just one solid, original idea at least. If you can find it in that demo, I'd sure like to know where it was. It's a 'Never Buy' imo. (I was going to pre-order till I played the demo, btw.)I can't wait to get my hands on this game tuesday. Thank you for proving my point. Not being original did not keep it from being fun. that is all the matters to a gamer right? If you did not find it fun its one thing, but to deem it not fun because it has no original ideas is ridiculous.
