Days Gone is biggest 2019 physical sales launch in UK. MK11 is #2

So even with the mediocre reviews (hey, 72 on MC is still better than Crackdown 3's 60 score), and the Lemming and Sheep chuckling, it still sells better than their games lol

Impressively for a new intellectual property, Days Gone beat the sales of Capcom's Resident Evil 2 and Ubisoft's Far Cry: New Dawn and The Division 2. However, Days Gone's launch sales come in under those of fellow PS4-exclusives God of War and Spider-Man.

Getting the feeling MK11 wasn't the massive hit Netherrealm was trying to pass it off as.

Good that it did well. But regarding being the top selling game hopefully means that MK11 is kinda failing.

Probably over 2 million copies sold. More than crackdown 3. Hopefully over 5 million copies sold after 8 months.

Interesting to see Sekiro still hanging in there. Also is this the first time that Grand Theft Auto V hasn’t been in the top ten?

Most people are saying that GS and IGN were way off the mark with their review. So it's good that their lower scores didn't influence the majority with those ratings.

MC has Days gone in the 70's which is what I predicted.

I think the game would be a 75 - 80 for me based on what I see from the game. I knew the game would have flaws and no I don't think it's a 90 type of game but it's a very well made game all the same.

Saying that a game is a 5.0/10 is damn near suggesting that the game is broken. Clearly from the reception that independent channels and user reviews have given, the game is far from broken and actually a highly polished and enjoyable title.

Wait, crackdown 3 was released?

It released and disappeared as soon as it arrived on the scene. It didn’t even chart on NPD. One of the worst flops of this gen ?

You know it’s quite impressive that Forza Horizon 4 is on that list all things considered.

@boxrekt: Well that’s subjective but anyway the fact that it came out in like Sept. 2018 and is also available on Game Pass and that this is just a list of physical sales. I think it has done very well for itself and I find it pretty impressive that it’s on a current week’s top ten list.

I know gamespot gave it a 5, but it really does look like a solid game.

5 should be for broken games, not repetitive bland ones.

After watching the happy console gamers take on the game, there's no way it's a 5.

@Bread_or_Decide: They need to find a new way to review that leans more to factual metrics instead of personal opinion.

I still remember when video game mags were popular and Game Informer used to rate games.

They broke down each element of the game:

• graphics
• sound
• gameplay
• polish

and then at the end they added personal appeal or "fun factor" which is pretty much their overall opinion. This opinion would usually only have enough weight decide if an 8.7 game would become a 9.

I think Gametrailers.com also had a review system like this.

I have long since wondered why reviewers stopped reviewing games like this. They really need to bring it back as personal opinion has too much flex on reviews these days.

@boxrekt: Even though Sony didn't promote it that heavy, they probably assume Days Gone will do okay on it's own merits and Zombie games are still fun to play.

I recieved my rental of the game tonight. I've been looking forward to the game since its announcement. Was a bit disappointed in the reviews and it kind of curbed my enthusiasm for it.

So far I am having a blast with it. The graphics are great and it's fun gameplay and mechanics so far. I've done a few missions so not too far into it. Just got my first tank upgrade. Its no where near a "Sony exclusive killer" like the others but it is a fun game none the less.

Been playing my XOX for the last few months since spidey and it feels good to play another Sony exclusive though it's not the blockbuster I had hoped it would be.

Hmmm, a fighting game is still a niche and second place is in no way bad.

Im starting to think some of the reviews for Days Gone are way off, a 5 means a game has glaring flaws and might have some game breaking bugs.

I watched the completionist review and he said that while the game starts off slow and feels generic, once you play it for a while the game starts to shine with it's own uniqueness and flavor.

Makes me think the reviewers are only playing for a couple of hours and focusing too much on story.

Of course reviewers only play for a few hours, plus quite a few of them are playing the SJW talking points because they hate straight white people.

Reviews can only give you a overview and only if you bother to read them. Even negative reviews can be positive in some instances.

For example Demon's Souls was poorly reviewed by some and it was one of those reviews that made me get the game because all the negatives are a positive for me.

Victor Lucas, who Johnny (Happy Console Gamer) has been working with recently, has similar sentiments on the game and also released a bit of a VLOG on Meta scores.

At some point this has to start seeming really weird. Like come on now.

Glad to see it doing so well despite a few less than flattering review scores. The good scores are really good and the bad scores are really bad which makes me want to check it out myself to form my own opinion.

Lol... it's just funny that a PS game reviews poorly, and now supposedly the reviewers are wrong and need to change the way they review games. But with games like Crackdown or Sea of Thieves, the reviews are spot on.
