Dead Island 2 has the best trailer in recent years

Ok, there has been a lot of aggravation and frustration from me, but now there's something positive for a change. This Dead Island 2 trailer is one of the most funny, witty and amazing trailers I've seen for a very long time. I hadn't cared about the game itself before (as the original game was a mixed bag), but now I feel obliged to check it out.

The f.... do people ever learn? I remember getting trolled by first dead island cgi trailer. Never again.

I hated the dead island the game mechanics we're terrible in that game.

Yeah, I know, the first one also wowed a lot of people, but still the trailer itself is fun, I don't expect the game to live up to this trailer, but it made me laugh out loud a lot.

I'm looking forward to it, the first two games that everyone hated were pretty fun.

Kinda like the Magika 2 trailer, great trailer wasted on a crap (maybe not?) game.

This one actually fits the tone of the game.

I just don't understand why they're making this. I thought Dying Light would be the successor.

It is a great trailer, id rather see actual gameplay though, or at least in engine stuff.

@eNT1TY: Magica 1 is a great game, im not sure it will translate well to a controller though but we will see.

I think the tone of this trailer hints at why they are doing both games.

Dead Island 2 is going to be a funnier, much lighter experience whereas Dying Light is going to be a much more serious and dark game.

Anyways, definitely keeping my mind on the game. LOVED the first game and think the premise for the game is awesome. Riptide was crap though which is why I don't think I'll be pre-ordering this one...

Hopefully Techland has gotten more technologically competent. They have some FANTASTIC ideas but seem to have serious issue actually creating the games....

Yeah, probably. I'm still more excited for Dying Light, because of what they showed, but I'm keeping an eye on this.

Oh, and Yager is developing this game. Techland is doing Dying Light.

Techland isn't making it, they're making Dying Light, and also working on Hellraid, which surprisingly came up in the Xbox One indie games section... well, I guess Techland is kind of an underdog in a way. Anyways, Deep Silver and Yager Development, who did Spec Ops: The Line, are making Dead Island 2. Plus someone, I don't know who, are working on the Dead Island: Epidemic MOBA.

Also worth noting that Dying Light is being published by WBIE, not Deep Silver, so in a way it's kind of a competitor to the original Dead Island games, even though very much its spiritual successor made by Dead Island's original creators. I'm guessing Techland and Deep Silver had some issues.

Best zombie game of last gen. This was a real surprise to me. I thought they killed the series in favor of the more serious DL.

Need to get on that Collector's edition, we got the torso, now do something weird(er). lol

Dying Light was much more intriguing than this will ever be.

the first Dead Island's trailer was one of the best trailers ever.. the game was terrible though. Maybe the sequel will be better since they are using a different developer

Yeah Dying Light has been looking pretty damn amazing.

Definitely want to see what they are doing with this game as well. If they do end up having Jack Black and Aaron Paul doing two of the main characters voices it would be absolutely AMAZING!

Didn't know that about the development of the game. Actually gives me hope that this game could be REALLY good. I loved the first Dead Island, but I very much question Techland's abilities. Feel like the series would be an absolute powerhouse in the hands of a better developer...

@pelvist: I played magika 1 using my 360 pad a few times... it's horrific. It's just too important to b able to mix spells quick. The GamePad mapping had long presses and sub choices... it was terribad ... that said if they're building helldivers with a game pad in mind maybe they'll give magika 2 a new mapping.

Yeah, same here. I hated how quickly weapons degraded and the first person movement just felt really bad. Little things like how your character kept moving even after you stopped pressing forward just bugged the hell out of me. Don't know why OP loved that trailer--it was corny and useless (ie no gameplay whatsoever).

Wow, that just made me a lot more interested in Dead Island 2. The trailer was great for sure but then so was the first games, this one has me more excited though because that sounded like Jack Black and Aaron Paul at the end.

I hope that they do go for this kind of goofier fun style of game because Dying Light looks like a dark gritty version of Dead Island so we don't need another game like that. Plus something not many games actually nail is being funny whilst also having more serious or emotional moments. Normally they **** the tone up and it feels like the game can't make it's mind up whether it wants to be serious or not so hopefully Yager can hit the nail on the head if they try to go that route.

It's a pretty good trailer, but I liked the Magicka trailer more.

I liked the trailer, i liked the first Dead Island game, although it did get really annoying in certain parts of the game. I don't own riptide yet, so i can't comment on it

If you're interested in a properly good Techland game, check out Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. It's a crazy, western first person shooter.

Dying Light's "run boy run" trailer trumps that failed-comedy trailer of Dead Island 2, as will the actual game. Serious tone almost always beats humorous tone in games, developers are practically handing the crown to their competitor if they continue down this route.

Yeah. Great trailer and unlike previous ones, this actually fits the funny style of the game really well. While I loved Dead Island's CG trailer, it was somber and sad, while the game was nothing like that.

Anyway, looking forward to what Yager will do with the IP and how it will compare to Dying Light.

It's a CG trailer that shows zero gameplay. That automatically makes it a bad trailer.
