Cool… I didn’t get into the originals, so I’m interested. How about you, SW? What’s your interest level for the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?

Why the hell is this being made? It was a fun niche'ish game back then, remember doing some hard af achievements in it that drove me insane, and it was a good game, but i don't want to replay this old relic wth.
I watched a buddy play the first one, and while I wish it wasn't so goofy, it did seem like a quality game. I don't know about the rest.
Forever I've wanted a good zombie game in the style of the first three Romero movies. This had the mall, but little else. A game in that vein, with interesting characters, enjoyable survival mechanics and dynamic interactions and events could be pretty cool.
No glowing eyes.
And if you have to have super zombies, the audio drama We're Alive would be a decent basis.
I enjoyed Dead Rising, but I enjoyed the sequels more (especially DR2).
This Remaster is going to need a lot of new features before I'd consider buying it.
Never got into this game, seems like it would get old in about 20 minutes.
Was cool in 2005 I guess.
I still haven't fully played through the last collection, though I played through both Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 back in the Xbox 360 days, loved them, plus Dead Rising 3 and 4 on Xbox One were also good fun, definitely hated on due solely to its association to the XB1.
Better offer something worth picking it up again. The original game can certainly use some quality of life improvements, better survivor AI, Otis not freaking out on radio when you get interrupted, those convicts in the courtyard that keep reapawning even after you've killed them, etc. But still fun regardless.
Not sure what this offers yet so on fence for now, no need to spend money anytime soon. But it did create an itch to revisit these, installing the XB1 re-release to dick around in meantime.
And did this say in 3 days? I'm gonna need some kind of breakdown of what has changed before I spend anything on this. Would be nice if they offered some cheap upgrade to those with the 8th gen re-release.
Right now on Xbox store the 8th gen re-release goes for $10, and Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record go for $5 each on sale if anybody is interested. Dead Rising 3 and 4 are also discounted to $6 each. Definitely a good time to scratch that Dead Rising itch for cheap.
Oh hell yeah! Absolutely loved the original and played it a ton on the 360. Will definitely be getting this day one.
@SolidGame_basic: you’re our video game news hero. Where would we be here without you??
Lol thanks!
I don't think I ever beat one, so i'll probably pick it up.
They really are outdated, you'll lose interest within 4h.
No interest, not even a GamePass or bust. lol :P
This is the exact kind of shovelware low profit margins game that is most likely gonna be on gamepass.
Is this Capcom's way of testing the waters of interest before making a new entry?
I thought 3 and 4 were hot garbagio
1 was the most fun. But I most likely won't be triple dipping on this game. Really- if you own the Xbone/PS4 era remaster you should get this upgraded version for free.
@sakaixx: "Bought 1st and 2nd game for literally $3 each on PSN and I never played it.... I hate timed games it causes unnecessary stress and rush things."
The first game probably felt the worst for trying to juggle everything but from my experience I wouldn't stress it on first few playthrough attempts. The character level/skill progression carries over with each playthrough makes a significant difference for what you can accomplish with each run. It's a game that will need multiple runs to get more satisfying results each time, and also learn the time patterns for bosses and survivors and major events, and to become more familiar with everything. But best to accept it's a game where you're not expected to do everything, just do the best you can.
The sequels are far more forgiving in this regard with a pretty good run being achievable without as many attempts. There's also a lot of things about the original that can be frustrating that aren't an issue with the sequels. Plus sequels have weapon crafting combos that are a lot of fun to play around with.
Enjoyed all four Dead Rising games but the first one is still my favourite. It just had an atmosphere around it and it’s characters that the sequels never quite nailed again. They sure as hell better keep that soundtrack though because it was awesome. Definitely some quality of life improvements though that they will hopefully do.

I think the sequels were designed to be more accessible. Hitting the times for key events is easier for sequels. I think the original was designed to be intentionally overwhelming, but that made it special in its own way. There's so much to do it's practically impossible to do it all so you gotta pick where you wanna go and what you want to do with the limited time you have. This causes how events unfold to play out differently, depending on how you do your runs differently you'll discover little secret events happening around the mall at different times. Even when you decide to approach some of the psycho bosses will trigger different scenes and potentially allow you to save more survivors at the location. It makes every run feel more unique and meaningful depending on what you can accomplish, what you might run into that you never seen on previous runs.
@lamprey263: Yeah, for sure. I really dug doing multiple playthroughs of the first game because of that.
