Don't feel like gathering the materials yourself? No problem! Spend real money and avoid the silly hassle of actually playing the game.

Yessir, PC gamers are too cheap confirmed to even buy a $0,19 microtransaction, they barely got their GT9800 together by doing paper routes. :cool:Microtransactions.. another gift from our console brethren.

Isn't being optional the whole point of micro transactions?vashkey
Yes. Being there at all is somehow a bad thing and magically makes the game worse in every way.

I think there's a difference between doing it in an MMO and an action-horror game.[QUOTE="vashkey"]Isn't being optional the whole point of micro transactions?ChubbyGuy40

Its fine now, but its when developers become greedy and start making obtaining certain things through normal means so hard / time consuming that it practically drives people to pay. Unfortunately Ive played a few games like that recently on iOS.

Micro transactions models are normally designed around making you want to buy the items by making the game a tedious grind, or items/boosts to give you an edge against none paying people IE pay to win.
Either way bought Dead space 1/2 day one won't be buying this until it hits the bargin bin.
I seriously hope this is not the future of gaming.

Optional transactions aren't all that bad. Ones where you get a better experience for paying more though are, like Planetside 2 does. It's a great game, but the guys with more money have the better gear. That stuff is annoying
There is a time and place for microtransactions like these: free-to-play games.
But if you're paying $60 for a game, there should not be ANY microtransactions at all, no questions asked.
I don't see anything wrong with this, the option is there for people who wants stuff handed to them. As long as they aren't forcing it down your throat I am okay with it.
It's not like in dragon age where they had the DLC salesmen. "There's a quest in the mountains but you need to pay $10 to come with me!" Seriously i'm fine with it. It happens in every game nowadays where they do try to get money post release. It's a business after all.I don't see anything wrong with this, the option is there for people who wants stuff handed to them. As long as they aren't forcing it down your throat I am okay with it.

This. I don't care if there are micro-transactions for lazy people, however stupid the idea may be. I have more of a problem with blatantly on-disc content, purposefully delayed content, or Day 1 DLC being sold to players at a premium. As long as the items are not cash only, I don't have much problem with it. However, I can see EA will fvck up the system to encourage people to spend money on that sh!t, dumbasses will buy them for sure. This better not to be a new trend.

The micro-transactions are for the more casual audiences who don't have the time or patience to grind for such items. If you don't like it, then simply don't pay for any of it. Obviously the more hardcore players will have the time and dedication to obtain that stuff on their own.
[QUOTE="campzor"]As long as everything can be obtained normally...then i dont care.hummer700You don't understand, if the game is BUILT around micro-transactions, then even if you DON'T spend a dime, you're still affected by this change. Why? Because EA will PURPOSELY encourage you to spend money on micro-transactions. How? Easy, make gathering resources 10x harder. They will intentionally make it so that if you DON'T spend real money, you will have to grind hours upon hours like it's an RPG to gather resources forcing an artificial difficulty upon you. Whatever they decide to do, you better bet that they will encourage you every chance they get to nickle and dime you. This is EA we are talking about.
EA -
Let's use P2W - Gamers cry (and rightfully so)
Let's hold back some content for DLC since we aren't making as much money per investment - Gamers Cry (and rightfully so)
Let's use optional microtransactions that don't affect the base game in anyway - Gamers Cry (gamers just being little **** here).
Eh nickel and diming. Pretty typical for EA and many other companies.
The thing is people actually buy this stuff, so it will only continue to happen.
Otherwise aside from future models withstanding, it shouldn't bother gamers that don't care about it in the slightest.
See my point above yours. You honestly don't get it dude, if this game is built around micro-transactions, then it will affect the base game. It's the principle of the matter. Micro-transactions don't belong in a paid $60 purchase. Don't you people have any integrity?EA -

Interesting enough, it says that was also available in ME3 mp. Didn't know that...On top of that, apparently there is a Ds suit unlock for ME3 if you have a save file according to another link in that article.
Lame, but at least it's optional.
Not so troubling, but I don't want it in there they get away with this they will push further and further.
As long as it doesn't effect my gameplay in any way I don't care. Still it's a terrible business model.
