What do you guys think of Deadly Creatures and Mushroom Men? Both of them offer a miniaturized perspective which I find interesting. Mushroom Men is a platformer and Deadly Creatures is more of a roaming hack 'n' slash action game, but without normal genre defining characterization.

So Mushroom Men lets you make your own weapons and focuses on creativity and lets you use physics & telekenesis using the pointer. Deadly Creatures lets you choose your insect and comes with more strategic fighting moves, and is story driven. Apparently it has an interesting plot device, and the story is dark.

I think they both looks interesting, I'm quite intrigued by MM's weapon system, especially in one video where he combines bubble gum a DS stylus and a thimble to make a hammer, that's so awesome =p

Mushroom Men in particular reminds me of Toy Story. Just the whole improvisation thing.

It could be called Mushroom Story instead. But I don't think anybody would be interested. :P

I dunno, Deadly Creatures looks interesting to me.
See this quote here from the Wikipedia article.

The game uses motion-controlled combat, and has a dark story.Deadly Creatures

If the story is told using the device in this link then I think I will enjoy it as an alternative storytelling technique.

I also like the idea of being a Scorpion or Tarantula instead of the normal game protagonists.
From what I gather of the concept, the motion controlled combat uses the remote to represent the ENTIRE BODY of the Tarantula or Scorpion, which is another thing which makes me interested.

Its an interesting idea I just see it getting old quickly, though I wouldn't mind if I was proved wrong.

Me too. I'm keeping an eye on Mushroom Men but I'm really hoping Deadly Creatures turns out well.

The thing that bugs me about Mushroom Men is the whole 50's thing. Hopefully that style of presentation won't be in the final game.

I'm buying Mushroom Men no matter what. It looks really good. I may just buy it for DS, too, since they're both completely different. Not too interested in Deadly Creatures at the moment, though that may change.

I'm neither a kid nor a casual gamer. I've been gaming since the 1980's. I love the Wii. Most diverse console ever.

I am really impressed that it has a physics engine that you can move items around with using Telekinesis. I hope they implement it well because that can be a good feature.

I like how the mushrooms have different tribes.

Bolete - The Bolete are the innocent aboriginal tribe of the mushroom universe, a shamanistic society with heavy emphasis on creative production and the well-being of their general populace. They are good melee fighters and they would prefer to live at peace with the land and their fellow mushroom men. These are the protagonists of both games.

Amanitas - Of all the poisonous mushrooms, Amanitas are the most lethal. The Amanitas are extremely pale, very thin, and creepy looking. They ride spider mounts and use small spiders as attack beasts.

Morel - The mysterious Morel brotherhood delves more into science and advancing their spore powers than any other mushroom species. Their weapons, built primarily for defense, are technically advanced, though they are not war-like at all.

Lepiota - The evil Lepiota use poisonous spore powers as well as dark magic to enforce their aggressive religious beliefs. They build shrines in antique human hardware like old juke boxes and mid-century automobiles.

 Too cool.

That does look pretty cool. I like the end with the lizard. Although, if we are going by what the video showed, I wish they gave you more freedom with the webbing. Also I does have a good atmosphere.

Both look like really interesting games. Deadly Creatures looks like a good game, although it disgusts me a bit. :P

Mushroom Men interests me the most, though. It's one of the titles I most look forward to for the end of this year, and I might just buy both the Wii and the DS version. Wii needs more good platforming games. The controls beg for it.

And clearly, hyped games are always the best! I mean...look at Lair!!!

Seriously though. Both of these games look very solid. I'd probably opt for Mushroom Men first. The surrealism of the story is interesting and the weapon system is very cool and somewhat innovative. It's easy on the eyes and takes what we already know and puts just enough spin on it to make it interesting.

Deadly Creatures is looking so so to me. I think it could go either way. I probably need to read more about it first, but it's looking dangerously close to a "Legacy of Kain" style beat'em up. Very little progression and not enough meat on the story to hook a person. The difference being the fact that you're playing as a bug and the inclusion of motion controls. That being said, the saving grace could be the boss encounters. Huge boss battles with interesting mechanics could be just what the game needs to remove it from the generic beat'em up catagory. The 2 time line story telling is interesting and it's usually pretty fun to see a different angle of the story. I've only seen gameplay near the beginning (I hate spoiling the game) from e3 but I have guarded optimism for the end result.

The more I read and see of Mushroom Men, the more interesting it looks. Can't wait to experience it myself, but from the looks of it it's gonna be very solid. I hope I'm not too enthusiastic as the disappointment can be great if this game turns out to be mediocre, but for some reason I think this will be great game. It's important that this thing will work out. Not only because the Wii will be a great game richer, but also because odds are that it'll increase the number of third-party developers making platformers and games in general, exclusively for the Wii. And that's needed because, apart from the occasional highlight (Super Mario Galaxy), the platforming genre has been in decline in the past couple of years, and I think the Wii's control scheme is a perfect way to give a new touch to the genre.
