Gameplay:One of the coolest thing about this game is simply walking. The creatures's animations are so in-tune with the environment and somehow deliver with what you expect from an insect: You get to see the mechanics behind how the spider or scorpion walk. However, a lot of the gameplay is segmented into small puzzles and fighting. The fighting is what I like focusing on because of how gritty it really is. The simple attacks are fun to watch, but the scorpion's finishing moves are incredibly over-the-top! The Bosses and the story-telling are by far the best things in the game: the bosses are an act of survival instead of actually fighting, which builds adrenaline, and the story-telling is presented through sometimes-rare sequences that happen above ground: really cool!
Graphics/Art:First of all, the art in this game is MUCH better than I anticipated. This is one of those games that I wish would have come to the Xbox 360 or PS3 but also retained its oh-so-satisfying motion and pointer capabilities (Wii :x). However, whatever technical challenges Rainbow Studios had with the game, they did a fantastic job of overcoming them:
Sound Design:This part of the game BLEW ME AWAY! I am always looking for games with great sound design, and this game delivers! It almost reminds me of Dead Space's sound design, but with more moisture to it (if that makes any sense). The music is fantastic, the screeches are incredible, the sense of awe as you "simply walk" is unmatched except for only the top games in this industry. Absolutely phenomenal.
