because people who have the game and play it actually post on its dedicated forum
http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/granturismo52/forum.html
the first and a half pages have posts as recent as today. and all 7 pages on the forum have posts as recent as the past week. it is far from dead.
also, there's a website dedicated to the GT franchise.

SW =/= RL
In SW it flopped and no one pays much attention to it. In real life millions of people play it every day.
The game has sold over 6.8 million copies and i think it is still rising. They have been releasing almost constant updates every month adding in new stuff (and fixing things too :D). The game is still played by alot of people. They have added in alot more content (ala Seasonal Events, Time trials). The post launch support has been staggering, Much more than any game i can think of (barring a select few games like Team Fortress 2 and WoW), Just a shame they havn't added any more cars. Heres hoping for a Spec II update soon.
Just becuase the game isn't talked about that much now does not mean its dead. SW rarely ever talks about most games, Its usually only when theres a sequel to it that it would ever get discussed.
I'm wondering the same thing about every single PS3 exclusive except for Uncharted 2. Although I suppose it's because PS3 owners are actually playing their games, rather than talking about them online ;)charizard1605exaclty, ps3 owners are playing those games while the rest is ingoring or hating them :D
This is system wars. Everyone hypes the next big thing around here so they have something to brag about. And after those games do not neet expectations we will move on to the next set of games. Then we repeat the process.
Shtt !! if the hype dies and people lose interest, then they'll lower the price and I can buy the game. for me, GT5 has failed were no GT has failed before. All because of a stupid trailer back in 2005....I indeed enjoyed Forza and Forza2 (havn't played part3), although those games lacked the lovely endurance races GT have (there are endurances, but they aren't up to GT standards for me) . Again, I'll buy the game if its platinum, maybe it's worth the price then.
I would say its worth it now, Especially with all the updates that have come out.Shtt !! if the hype dies and people lose interest, then they'll lower the price and I can buy the game. for me, GT5 has failed were no GT has failed before. Not only do we not care about other sites, sales have never been an indication of how good a game is.
Well but people's opinions do count for something. And I think most GT5 haters on here are just Forza fanboys.

True but sitting at 84.39% on GR is a decent sign that the game is good and worth playing and even going by GS score of 8/10 it is.[QUOTE="Wasdie"][QUOTE="nameless12345"]

I'll be finally getting in on it next week, was waiting for a price drop/fixes for a more stable game. I won't lie, but the reviews did set me back a little.:(
As for the sales, I believe it's at like 6.5 million? That's a lot, and the best selling PS3 exclusive however it's still not THAT much honestly in comparison to other games. Sure GT games have long legs... ehh.
[QUOTE="sts106mat"][QUOTE="Heil68"] I liked Alan Wake except for the final boss, which almost ruined the game for me. I was just pointing out games almost a year old or older don't get brought up much, especially when Fall is around the corner and a bunch of new games are coming out. Nothing beats modded Crysis as far as graphics go, so I don't pay much attention to console graphic king threads, they are quite frankly dumb. Heil68Alan Wakes final boss was just OK, i didn't see the need for it either. however i did really like the game and the ending, if you had the collectors edition, the book that came with it really added a lot to the experience IMO. the first DLC was ok, the second really left me wishing I hadn't bothered playing either of the DLC. i was much happier with the ending of the original game to be honest. I didn't get the DLC, so I don't know about it, but yea, the final boss and how to kill it left me stunned. :P Rest of the game was solid though, hope there is another one.
Well good luck hoping for that one.:P I gave up about a few months ago, but mainly because there are just so many new titles coming out soon.:D

the thread should have ended there yet it continuesI play forza, but I was really excited about Gran Turismo 5. It was one game that would make me want to buy a PS3 for. After reading the reviews, I was so dissapointed that it really didnt improve on GT4 all that much, and most of the cars are from PS2 versions. I havnt bought a PS3 because of the lack of games on there that I couldnt already play on Xbox or PC. Chris_53Its up to you but I wouldnt buy a system for just one game anyway. As for GT5, its awesome. The PS2 versions are not bad looking at all. You really dont notice it except in the pre-race animations. Besides, if they did 1000+ premium model cars, they still wouldnt have released the game. With that number of cars I'm always finding new ones to race...some Ive never heard of. Its awesome. I never know whats going to appear next in the used car garage (where all the non-premium models are). The online support has been incredible too. PD keeps updating races and events in the Seasonal races section. It greatly increases the life of the game. Like others have said, Ive been playing it, not talking about it. They keep updating game features too like the menu system. The support has been nothing short of spectacular. As for reviews, you have to take it into perspective. If you liked GT4, you will love GT5. The review wasnt bad at all...8.5. GT5 got an 8.5 because of all the hype around the game. Its still easily the king of Sim racers.
Wondering the same thing about Killzone 3.
