https://www.gameinformer.com/2022/01/27/death-stranding-directors-cut-pc-release-date-revealed-upgrade-path-detailed

It was revealed earlier this month that Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding Director’s Cut would be coming to PC sometime this Spring. Now, we know exactly when we can trek across North America once more with our BB on PC.

505 Games, which is publishing the title on PC, has revealed that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will hit Steam and the Epic Games Store on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. It will cost $39.99, which is $10 more than it costs on PlayStation 5 where this edition of the game was first released. However, if you already own Death Stranding on PC, you’ll be able to upgrade for a much lower price.

“Owners of Death Stranding can upgrade to the Director’s Cut for the discounted price of $9.99 by installing the current game and purchasing through the in-game storefront,” 505 Games writes in a press release. “Those who still need a copy of the base game can find it at a discounted rate of 70% off during Steam’s Lunar Sales (Thursday, January 27 through Thursday, February 3).

As for what to expect, the Director’s Cut on PC brings higher frame rates, ultrawide monitor support, and a “feature-rich photo mode” to the game.

“Death Stranding Director’s Cut on PC enhances the groundbreaking title with higher frame rates, ultrawide monitor support, and a stunning photo mode,” 505 Games says. “Thanks to the power of Intel’s new Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) graphics technology recently revealed at CES 2022, Death Stranding has never looked more hauntingly beautiful. Navigate a fractured world as Sam Bridges on a treacherous journey to reunite America, complete with an expanded storyline, new stealth missions, combat abilities, and more.”

Death Stranding Director’s Cut will hit Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 30. While waiting for its release, read Game Informer’s original Death Stranding review and then read about why Death Stranding Director’s Cut is worth another trek across America.

Looks like PC gamers lost their free upgrade privileges 😎

Seems like Sony's nonsense is continuing onto PC and TC is in favor of shilling for it. Luckily, that is not an issue with Xbox and other developers games.😎

Bucking the standard and charging money is applauded by the cows.

I should be surprised since they are brainwashed to the point they celebrate paying more for their 1st party games than everyone else.

You will have to pay $10 to upgrade on PC while Xbox fans pay nothing because the game isn't on that platform 😎

Is there additional content? I understand the Director's cut of GOT comes with a DLC. Ultrawide can be modded. Higher frame rates depend on the hardware so I'm not sure if they optimized the code to get it to run better? And photo mode. They're basically asking $10 for a photo mode.

I don't mind the $10 upgrade if I want to play the game again and if the game makes improvements that just aren't framerate and graphical updates.

Not gonna touch on your usual hyperbole but Activision doing something prior, does not mean they'll be allowed to do the same thing under new ownership...

@girlusocrazy: Bit of a different there, that was a bundle of mods as paid DLC. Essentially, an expansion pack.

Now personally, I think them selling mods is bullshit. When everyone complained on Steam, they simply took them off the service where they could deny feedback and focused on the more ignorant console user-base to push it through.

Regardless, Special Edition was a visual upgrade.

LOL 505 didn't learn its lesson from what they tried pull on Control: Ultimate Edition the first time by making everyone pay again for the upgrade and now, they're going it again with the PC version. 505 is starting to slowly becoming the publisher you don't wanna deal with...but sadly, they own Remedy developers and they are my fav too. hard times coming ahead😔

It will cost $39.99, which is $10 more than it costs on PlayStation 5 where this edition of the game was first released.

Typo, that's $10 less than what it launched for on PS5

This is what it's getting on top of the PS5 version.

The DE version comes with more. Check wikipedia.

Yes but I was specifically talking about the release dates. DS: DC was listed to be coming out in March IIRC and we just got a confirmation.

Price is not a factor for superior gaming. Hell my pc gaming chair cost more than every next gen system combined. I probably spent more on building a single keyboard than a PS5. My next monitor alone will cost more than entire consoler gamer (lol) room setups.

Funny how you think the $10 in the OP would matter to us.

Also, for those who haven't purchased Death Stranding on PC. Steam is having the Lunar New Year sale running until February 3rd and the game is going for $17.99. You could essentially just purchase the game for that price and pay $10 for the upgrade when it releases 😂

If all you are getting for that $10 is Ultrawide support and higher (I assume unlocked) framerates, then this is a joke. You can include ultrawide support (kind of) in any game with a simple ini change. Same goes for framerates (in cases they are locked, which BTW on PC should never be locked to begin with). What a joke
