Definitive Xbox Game- Cliff B Says Gears 3, What About Halo Reach?

Cliff B said that just like Halo 2 was the definitive exclusive game for the xbox 1, gears3 has reached the status of the definitive exclusive game for Xbox 360.

Now obviously he is very biased, considering he is the developer of gears haha. But I was surprised how quick he was to say that comment given the fact that the Xbox 360, only just last year, received an extremely well polished Halo Reach game, probably the best Halo game since halo 1. Whether or not you like Halo, there is no denying Halo Reach was a huge game for the xbox 360 and was extremely successful.

what matters is what you guys think. Which one truly is the definitive shooter for xbox.....Gears 3 or Halo Reach?

I honestly think BOTH games are tied for the definitive xbox 360 shooter, since both in some way make up for what the other lacks. Gears 3 knows how to dazzle and deliver solid, ferocious gameplay fighting huge bosses and then engaging in modes of endless fun. Halo Reach is shorter, gameplay and online is perhaps a bit slower,and the modes arent as fleshed out as gears 3.However its also a much more story driven experience, one that knew how to tell a more understanding tale than gears, Halo2, and Halo 3, even having ahealthy sprinkle of emotional moments. The game doesnt quite dazzle on the same level as gears but I find Halo Reach is a more strategic game since the armor abilities add a level of gameplay variation that Gears 3's close combat focused gameplay doesnt quite have. In the end both are fantastic titles that should be in everyone's xbox 360 library

I think Halo 3 had more of an impact than Reach, although Reach is the better game.

Pretty close these days and quite frankly, who'd a thunk it :o but I still think that forever and ever, the game that most gamers and the general public will identify the MS console most with is and will be HALOS :P

gears 3 deserves its high scores. Its an impressive game. there is nothing impressive about halo reach. gears 3 is one of the best games on the 360, halo reach is one of the most overrated.

Gears single player mode has gripped me more than what reach's did. The reach MP has way more variety than gears. i call a tie, i love both games.sts106mat

Played a couple of hours of Gears 3's campaign. Not entirely impressed so far. I saw a bit of multiplayer though, and that looks legit.

I think Gears is the definitive franchise for the 360, but if the campaign doesn't pick up, I think Halo: Reach is the better 360 game.

I never thought I'd say this, but Gears 3 has a far, far better story then Halo Reach.

Also there's some other stuff like gameplay and music but who really cares about any of that?

In all seriousness, I really found myself enjoying the Gears 3 campaign and yawning during Reach's. There are so many missed opportunities for large scale cool fights in Reach that I ended up being really really disappointed by it. And then there's the fact that the multiplayer didn't grab me at all because the maps stunk and there were balance issues between loadouts. I've been playing Gears 3 online since I got it and I don't really get any of those feelings. It's campaign was varied and lengthy with a surprisingly good story, variety, and lots of cool moments, and it's multiplayer is refined, balanced, and very fun.

In my eyes, the Xbox is a social platform that is built around strong online architecture. Halo epitomizes that philosophy more than any console game ever made, but still, Gears is only one step (if not only a half-step) behind.

Halo is still the definitive Xbox franchise. Gears is good, but it has not and will not reach the status of Halo.

I do think Gears 3 is better than Reach. Both are amazing games but Reach campaign disappointed me alot. Gears 3, on the other hand, seems flawless so far. Im currently in Act 4 and simply loving every single bit of it.

Um... what? You kidding? It's better than 3, ODST, Wars, and in terms of features/campaign it stomps Halo 2 into the ground. The only thing Halo 2 did better were maps.

On topic, I think Reach is the "definitive" 360 game, though Gears 3 is no doubt up there.

In terms of series as a whole, though, it's easily Halo. Gears has been inconsistent and the MP hasn't really been worth playing until Gears 3.

Halo - The Original Xbox Gears of War - Xbox 360 Halo Reach was crap compared to the other Halo games excluding ODST and Halo Wars. Gears of War 3 is an amazing game and it deserves the praise it gets.

Until the next generation the "definitive" can't be said. If it continues to change with new releases then that's a good thing.
