He thought its too had a niche for the western market sadly if thats how SONY executives think then I dont see any bright future for them.
Wait a minute, why would anyone think otherwise? These games do not sell very well in the west and demon's soul/dark souls are the exceptions to rule.
Yes I have heard about that game but I would like to see From Software on this project to make it offical. I really don't know what's wrong with sony. They bought so many oh hum and so so game development companies, but From Software is one they definantly should have went into their stash of funds and picked up.
To me one of Sony's biggest flounders this gen was not securing From software as an exclusvie Dev. Just imagine what From Software could do with the kind of disposible budge the likes that ND and Santa Monica see..uhh.

And if they bought from software they'd have another oh hum dev company on their hands.. from software really has a poor record of games.
I love how they continue to support this game and are keeping servers up. Originally they were going to shut them down like two years ago, so it's great that they're still up. Having said that, I always play offline since I'm horrible at the game and the AI opponents are plenty for me to deal with. I just can't stand the idea of being raided by another player, it would drive me crazy.getyeryayasoutI spent about 65 hours playing Demon's a couple months ago and was invaded twice. I've been playing Dark Souls for about 25 hours over the past couple weeks and was invaded twice TODAY. I've lost track of how many invasions I've had the whole time. Granted, I destroyed the two of them today with my Claymore +10, 28 STR and some deft back-stabs... but when you are just starting out and get invaded by people with equipment and items (someone tossed dung pie at me before I even made it past the Wyvern on the castle bridge) from WAY ahead in the game... it can get annoying. Kind of makes me want to become a member of the Darkwraith Covenant.
Nice. I'm on my first playthrough now because I wanted to experience it before the servers closed. Good to hear I'll be able to play online if I decide to do NG+.
Cool. I've moved onto Dark Souls and really am not looking back...ZevianderThis is what I did, the combat in Dark Souls just feels more fluid to me. However I don't do PVP very much, I like PVE more.
Not really. Both games are great, and each do some things better than the other. As far as mp goes, Demons hands down wins because of dedicated servers. I do like the connected world of Dark Souls more and it's bosses. But Demons souls also did some combat elements better. Especially when coming out of a non hindered roll and into an attack. With Dark souls, there's always this slight pause. Demons was totally smooth. Also, true stealth builds were possible in Demons souls thanks to the cloak spell and thief ring. Fog ring is the closest in Dark, but only makes you slightly transparent.Gonna be hard going back to it after dark souls.

[QUOTE="Zeviander"]I'd like to see a detailed list of non-subjective reasons (i.e. "I like Boletaria more than Lordran!") as to why Demon's Souls is a "superior" game. From what I've played of Dark Souls so far, it is just Demon's Souls but with a ton "more" in every aspect. And the framerate dips in Blighttown aren't that bad.ispeakfactAfter putting over 500 hours into both DeS and Dark, I can say one isn't better than the other. DeS online (dedicated servers)owns Dark, but Dark has more content and cooler bosses (except for the old monk in DeS. Nothing is cooler than being summoned to play as the boss in another players game). DeS has some better combat elements and true stealth builds, also more balanced weapons that scale correctly with the build you are going for, while darks interconnected world I find more appealing. But both games have "Patches"...which makes them both instawin.
I can definitely agree with the dedicated server issues especially when back stabsand parrying relies on split second decisions, however I love the covenants of Dark Souls faaaaaar more. Ultimately for me the combat just feels heavier, meatier, and more fluid. I also like Estus flasks more than grass farming/spaming. As for balanced weapons, I think they're both even. There is no 'best' weapon, I could name a dozen weapons that I currently switch between in Dark Souls for either PVE or PVP. It just depends on your play style and situation.

The entire lore, structure of the world (Metroivania rather than "levels") and the overall selection of equipment just appeals to me so much more. PvP has never been my thing (in any game), but the Covenants are definitely inspiring me to get into it more (especially with different, more dedicated builds). Both the Dragon and Darkwraith Covenants are extremely appealing to me (the former solely for the dragon stones, and the latter for the vengeance on unholy invaders). Had I played Demon's back when it first came out, and become a dedicated PvP player, I might care... but Dark Souls feels like a more "complete" and more enjoyable game. Demon's, while great, had a lot of potential for improvement. Especially in terms of world design (which Dark Souls pretty much trampled mercilessly).
Fantastic news! :D It really saddened me to hear a while ago that they were gonna shut the servers down, so I'm glad that Atlus came to their senses and will keep the servers up instead. I wonder if Sony gave them the money to do it? That'd be really smart of them. The game's certainly worth it, that's for sure.
Not even 3 years was no where near the amount of time that DS deserved. As far as I'm concerned, the servers should never be shut down. I want people to be able to play DS online 20 years from now!

[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] Interesting. Weird they didn't contract From Software for a sequel directly after Demon's Souls though.casharmy
I figured since Japan Studios involvement on developing Demon's Souls, I don't think they really needed From Software.
Instead they're getting Keiji Inafune.

Sony owns the Demon's Souls IP. Why do they need an official approval from From Software? They don't need From Software. Sony can hire any devs to work on the project. I'm actually more excited about Inafune being involved rather From Software tbh.[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]Yoshida, the guy who initially thought the game was crap  Cool stuff.Kashiwaba

They also mentioned that they were wrong after it's success and that they would never make that mistake again...Please Log In to post.
