Demon's Souls = metacritic 90, Uncharted 2 = 97, Killzone 2 = 91... Sony FTW

Sony is absolutely dominating with critical reception of their exclusives this year. Check out the metacritic scores for 09...

Killzone 2 = 91

Infamous = 85

Uncharted 2 = 97

Demon's Souls = 90

Meanwhile, the 360 hasn't had a single exclusive break the 85 mark yet this year (ODST is the highest so far with an 84). Forza 3 and Left 4 Dead 2 will probably be 85+ type games, but Sony still has Ratchet & Clank coming as well (last R&C game was a metacritic 89).

Sony is killin' it this year!

2010 should be much more competitive as both consoles have really strong lineups.

halo3 odst is an expansion pack, it wouldnt matter to me even if itwas 10 on metacritic.

and i think its safe to say that 360 still doesn't have aaae title this year.

Well, 3 of them were scored AAA here, and in all likelihood, Uncharted 2 will score at least a 9. 4 AAAEs in one year is pretty damn good.

That is definetly true, only people who wanted a DVD player bought the PS3. The amazing lineup had nothing to do with it.

Probably. I personally just read as many reviews as I can find. I don't like the whole average thing since all the games aren't rated on the same standard.

I don't want to make a big stink because well, I do that too much as it is but I was never insisting one review > multiple reviews. I also do not think multiple reviews > one review as well. I think metacritic and game rankings are broken standards because they simply add all scores from tons of different websites with different reviewing standards and methods and say, this game is "this %" quality as though it was all one consistent homegenous blend when really, you have sites that value different aspects, rate with varying degrees of severity and have different scales and tastes simply added like one consistent number. Its not the proper way to get an average or grasp of a games quality. Simply reading many reviews and taking common reoccuring aspects then applying them to your taste is the best way to see a quality game. That's just me though.

Nothing against the PS3, its an amazing system (my favourite) and its recieved good games this year but people really need to stop looking only at AAA games or atleast stop holding them on such a high pedestal.

A system with 10 AA exclusives (AA/AAA quality) but no AAAE for a year will be deemed a flop, crap etc but if a system has no AAE and 1 or 2 AAAE (AA/AAA quality) then thats fine. This isnt just related to the PS3, its all consoles. I just get annoyed when people parade a miniscule amount of games, just because they happened to score in the 90% area.

All fanboyism aside, it's been a great year for PS3 owners. And the future looks even brighter. From everything I've read so far (and my own expectations after playing the under-rated original) Uncharted 2 might turn out to be one of the best gaming experiences ever.

GTA4: TLAD = 90

ODST = 84

Halo Wars = 82

Forza 3 = 85+ (likely)

So, I am not sure how one can be absolutely dominating the other.
