Since September this year, all games protected by Denuvo are disarmed within a week.

Even TW:WH2 and FIFA 18 cracked in 8 hours after their release.

Wonder when the devs gonna sue Denuvo company. ?

It was good while it lasted... but the main thing making piracy a thing of the past these days is affordable games easily accessible to users through convenient applications.

Looking at the list of games that use it, looks like most are cracked.

The research was entrusted to the company Ecorys Nederland BV in 2013, the report was finished by May 2015, but the EU Commission never made it available to the public.

The German politician, Julia Reda, had access to the report and the German site netzpolitik.org has published it.

https://netzpolitik.org/2017/eu-komm...ffentlichkeit/

Quote from the conclussions of the research:

In general, the results do not show robust statistical evidence of

displacement of sales by online copyright infringements. That does not

necessarily mean that piracy has no effect but only that the statistical analysis

does not prove with sufficient reliability that there is an effect.

And now we know it affects nothing

This is why game consoles has a place in the market i.e. enforced DRM.

Windows 10 UWP comes close to XBO's DRM quality but the holes comes from dev build leaks (e.g. FH3 beta) and Steam holes (e.g. QB, using cracked Steam's QB exe which recycles Windows Store QB's data files). Windows Defender deletes FH3 beta's critical files hence making it stop working.

You can't go online, so you better off owning a legit copy.

It's the selling point for lot of people. Piracy can never be huge if a huge portion of the game is locked off. You can play single player Fifa 18 for awhile, but this will get boring quick.

Developers who have worked thousands of hours with underpay and stress and family problems can no longer protect products from freeloading, thieving pc gamers.

Hurra! What a victory for mankind.

Na Piracy is a crime and people go to jail.

The freeloaders who basically turned 98% of developers to consoles, making objectively superior genres like FPS, now console focused like to try rebrand it all like they are some heroic Robin Hood against "da man", when really, they just want free stuff.

It's like someone breaking into your house, stealing your wallet, not giving it to charity, and then claiming it was for one for the little guy. Ridiculous.

Pretty much everyone who is logical and not brain dead frowns upon it.

I hope they do come up with a 100% piracy proof drm, route out the real pc gamers from masquerading parasites.

Nice. More proof that companies are trying to make the public believe that piracy is a big deal even though it affects nothing substantial. (For the sake of more control over consumers? Scapegoat to fend off angry investors?)

Name me one DRM that has never, ever caused issues for paying customers and we'll talk.

There is a reason every single form of DRM has gone they way of the dodo, including the uncrackable and flawless Denuvo.

It must suck for publishers to spend so much money on something that never works, and it's insane to me that they have learned nothing and still try.

I'd prefer if they put that money towards making the game better, or marketing the game instead.

At Least it convinced some Japanese publishers to port some of their games to PC.

@R4gn4r0k:

The only one that remains is UWP. But that is a much much harder to cracked due to the DRM being OS level and not just a app layer like other DRM.

So far absolutely no one has managed to cracked any UWP based game. Only bypassed it.

I'd love for other companies to stop spending resources on Denuvo, so I'm happy the hackers won this time. I want devs to be more like CD Project, putting out QUALITY stuff that works around the pirates. We enthusiasts will gobble up those good quality games. Think of the tens of millions spent on Denuvo patching up whatever issues you had in games for the past 5 years (it's a man hour issue.)

Anyways...we all want devs to stay in business. It's a double edged sword. I'll always buy what the Witcher guys are making though...Go Gog!
