Hey system wars folks I wanted to talk about two games that quite frankly two of the biggest hyped games of this gen and fell so flat on their faces that they both crashed and burned. This is not to say they can't improve or tried to improve but my god we expected better. So my question to yall which of these game will be known as the game that failed this Gen?

Is it Destiny? Which by all means should have been the MMORPGFPS (Yeah that is a mouth full) dream but in reality and still to this day is just a bare bones and bore to play as you try to hit max level/light. I mean the game play was decent if not all the same across every class and the story was there like a some kid choosing to skip school just because. And poor Bungie/Activision really could have made something amazing but because of greed broke the product into many separate paid DLC and a grind fest.

Or is it No Man's Sky? Which was going to be this awesome space adventure exploring planets, finding special creatures, and traveling the cosmos with your buddies. Instead it turned into a sad resource gathering game with creatures that pretty identical from planet to planet, and no awesome friend time cosmos traveling. I believe this is a game where the creators just promised something more than they could deliver to be honest, but still a promise is a promise.

So which one fell of the hype train harder Destiny or No Man's Sky?

I was calling NMS a flop more than a year before it came out.

Destiny have tremendous hype with it having Bungie.

I would actually say Watch_Dogs or Star Fox Zero for me, I never thought NMS or Destiny were going to be good

Destiny. NMS is an indie pos. Whoever expected anything from an indie should adjust their expectations. Destiny was the definition of a clusterf*ck, one that did not get any better, still as shallow and brainless as it was in 2014.

No Mans Sky, even Sony hyped it to high heaven. Destiny had every right to be hyped, it was developed by a team with good track record.

Destiny improved quite a bit with TTK. Rise of Iron has been a big letdown, but it's a game worthy of reconsideration and a sequel to remedy the issues of the first.

NMS should have never had the hype that it did and preview chatter was a far greater misrepresentation than Destiny.

Destiny for sure. What a crock of shit.

I still get angry every time I realize I paid $60 for that piece of garbage. I only played it for a week and never touched it again.

NMS. No question is probably the most disappointing game from hype ever. Destiny is an awesome game that continues to get even better with their constant updates and added depth.

I haven't played No Man's Sky yet (not sure if I will now lol.) but from what I've heard from a few people I would have to go with that one being the bigger disappointment. I think it's rocky launch also hurt it badly in a lot of people's minds in addition to the lukewarm critic reviews. But, I can see a valid case in regards to destiny as well.

Destiny actually has a very strong community to this day. The PvE player count from yesterday totaled 805,644, and the PvP count was 552,216 according to Destiny tracker. And Monday is usually the slowest day of the week for Destiny, as Tuesday is reset day.

If your going to hold judgment on early vanilla Destiny from 2+ years ago. On a game that was always meant to grow and change like any other MMO. Then that's just silly.

Destiny might be disappointing, but it's still a lot of fun. Can't say the same for NMS.

Hahaha... no. It was a game cut in pieces and then sold for $140 instead of $60.

NMS. I admit I was intrigued when it was first announced, but then the more gameplay I saw the more boring it looked.

Destiny is what it is. Anybody who thought Bungie knew how to make an MMORPG was just deluding themselves.

Indeed! NMS is a complete scam and a fraud, and the reviews show it, as well as the record number of trade ins and refunds it received.

None of those two games didn't disappoint me. People who had high expectations and follow the hype was sure in a big surprise and this is coming from a guy who wasn't part of the hype train for both Destiny & No Man's Sky.

To anyone voting for NSM. You should adjust your expectations when it comes to indie crap developed in a basement by 10 people.

Destiny is yet another mediocre FPS game that wasn't finished from a AAA studio with unlimited money.
No Man's Sky is a unique space/survival game that wasn't finished from an unknown indie studio with limited money.

People really need to adjust their expectations, it was obvious they guy was promising things that hadn't been implemented yet, although I have to admit he should have flat out denied the multiplayer function, if you are writing a multiplayer game is usually a good idea to have made the network code first and build the game around it, inserting it afterwards is not gonna happen.

Why is this a question? Destiny is decent and a lot of people still enjoy its Diablo-esque nature. No Man's Sky was a complete debacle where the drama was more entertaining than the game itself.

NMS is infamously bad. Ill conceived and half-done on pretty much every single level. Destiny was just boring and disappointing.

I think as far as missing the mark NMS was much farther away.
