Lets see an unscientific or formal survey where any one could take it and post?
hmmmmm
If it was a formal survey by microsoft and only people with a confirmed hotmail or live linked email got an email asking them to take it and 61% of the people said their 360's broke then microsoft released those numbers. i'd be more willing to believe you, BUT Rarely are unofficial netsurveys accurate.
Yeah and 2,000 of the people on the survey could have been hardcore cows who have never even touched a 360. Trying to claim "Destructive Lemmings Ownage" over some anonymous internet survey of 2,600 people is a very, very, very lame attempt at ownage.

Indeed, this has to be the most major cow self-ownage yet.
Wow - you're an idiot if you believe that. I say it's in the 4 to 7% range. They only surveyed a mere couple thousand people out of what, twelve million Xbox 360 owners?Stevo_the_gamerMost Lemmings quote about these numbers, some say 3-5%. But that means about 1 in 25 consoles break. THAT IS A BIG DEFECTIVE RATE, for any kind of product.

Um 3 - 5 % is the industry norm...
The survey comes from a 360 fan site. I don't claim that the failure rate is that high, but it is much higher than M$ and its fanboys are claiming. Ownage Ownage, big one.hamidious
Yeah theres ownage, but not the kind you were hoping for.
Seems that every day, cows are getting more and more desperate.

As the bad news for Sony keeps trickling in, expect more phony threads purtaining to 360 failure rates to appear. Sony is beginning to look like a US Political Party, don't work at solving the problem, just point out your oppositions faults...

There were just over 2000 people surveyed, let's say 1200 said their 360s broke, that's not even 1% of all of the xbox360s out there. Not to mention that those people that did participate could have been anybody even people without 360s. Self-ownage at its best.

Argh *remembers the crappy photoshops on the day the 360 Elite launched*
umm, the real numbers are with M$, if they wanted you to know them they would have released them already. Why haven't they confronted all the speculations and rumors? They just don't want you to know, they prefer to lie and sell the consoles. I would take consumers' word rather than a corporate anyday.
Another thing, Matt Cassamina from IGN in his blog stated that he is on his 5th 360, that's just wonderful.
5% my arse, I love lemmings, you tell them the cup is empty they tell you it has a few drops in it, it's full.

Self-ownage for linking to a statistically unsound survey. What's the sample? Can you tell me the common factor among people sampled? I see no way of verifying that only Xbox 360 owners participated, I do see a venue for anyone with a grudge against Microsoft to ruin a poll - woo!
If you want to find out the failure rate, you need a random sample of Xbox 360 owner, a sufficiently large sample, and statistics that are actually comparable to an expected value. Now, if you were busting out some alpha values for Ho, showing me that you could disprove the hypothesis that the Xbox 360 failure rate is 3% or less, I might care, but this crap?
Common sense tells you that there are not 6.1 million broken Xbox 360s, statistics tells you that this survey is actually *worse* than just pulling a number out of your butt - congrats.
