Might finally do the game some justice :P i actually enjoyed it back in the day but felt it just needed a bit more to it.

I might actually pick this up.

I actually really liked the first Killzone. It had a cool thing where different levels were reminicent of different historical wars. So you had a WW1 styIe trench level with "over the top" charges, then WW2 styIe blitz with tanks and aircraft, then Vietnam styIe jungles and river boats, then modern styIe confused urban combat. Not the best game ever but had some great ideas. Also didn't have the "heavy" controls nor "greyzone" look that made me dislike KZ2 so much :P

Its pretty bold and shows how Guerilla's grown as a company and driven by their ambition which bit them a little with KZ1(mind you it was shifted from PC ot PS2 developement mid cycle if im not mistaken which would have never helped in 2004-5 :P)

WOW atleast they put some effort to the HD port, it actually looks really good. Never played KZ1, but I had seen vids of it and it always looked pretty bad to me.

Wow backed up on tape. That's crazy.

What's really great is that they are using the PC build of the game, not the PS2 build. Remember, Killzone was originally meant to be a PC game until Sony needed a "Halo Killer".

I don't recall Sony saying they needed a Halo killer. It was brought up by fanboys after that famous KZ2 montage on e3. Yet, the final build even looked better than the montage.

Haha, the final build didn't look better than the montage. Don't even kid yourself, you only look like a fool.

Anyways, the only reason Sony picked Killzone up and threw it out the door was becuase Halo 2 was coming. That was obvious even back in 2004.

I love KZ2 and KZ3, fanboys may hate on them but I can gurantee you that most of them have never played Killzone before. I wonder what the first KZ is like, I hear it has multiple characters.

Anyway if KZ2/3 were multiplats, these same haters would be praising the game. KZ is the most advanced shooter I ever played and it has excellent gameplay and multiplayer, it's the most refined FPS experience you will ever find.

You haven't played a lot of shooters if you really think that.

I can try to argue, but I know it's you so there is no point. All I can say is that you need to play more shooters.

I can't believe that since you believe Killzone is the most refined shooter out there. Honestly, it's so unbelievable I know you're just trolling up a storm.

You have NO evidence that you've been playing FPSs for that long when you make ridiculous statements like that. You kill all of your credibility. Again, no point arguing with you.

Also any gamer who has been playing video games since the early 90s is not going to have such a console bias like you do. Eventually you grow out of your parent's basement and play video games regardless of the platform. At that's how I've seen it for myself and everybody else my age.

I have played a lot of shooters and that is my honest opinion. Though I still think COD is the better game.

Sorry you don't like other people's opinions, I thought you were a cool guy. And I'm not going to provide evidence of my childhood lol.

No my very first shooters were Doom and Wolfenstien on PC. This is way back in the day, I have been playing FPS games across mulitple systems since then. I didn't really get into the genre until GoldenEye N64, and then Halo CE for Xbox was amazing, Halo 2 was also amazing. This gen I am mostly into COD, but KZ is great as well. Though as far as SP goes I prefer Bioshock 1.

And considering that the project that became Killzone dates all the way back to 1999, it doesn't really make sense that Sony "threw it out the door was becuase Halo 2 was coming." It was never meant to be a direct competitor to Halo, it just some bullsh!t hype thrown around by the media and press.

Who cares if a game is "mainstream" or not? Half Life is also a mainstream game, is that crap too? Lol didn't think so.

Perhaps he doesn't limit himself. It's best to play mainstream and non-mainstream games.

I remember playing the first game like 7 years ago. It was bad. The checkpoints were absolutely horrible (forcing 30+ minutes of work to be done over again upon death). I gave up on it at the point when it started feeling like a punishment rather than a challenge (think it was a swamp level). I'm so glad I've found Halo now though.

Oh. You mean the 2007 trailer, not the 2005. Big difference. Rememeber, Killzone 2's E3 2005 video was pure CGI BS which a lot of fanboys claimed that they achived in 2007.

there is a difference where i say "mainstream crap". half life is not mainstream crap. but is mainstream. not as popular as said games thought. killzone, COD, Halo are all based on noobish MP and has bland and uninspired short, linear SP. Half life is pure story driven long and engaging game with tons of replaybility. same goes to Stalker

"story driven" Sorry but I play FPS to shoot stuff. Halo > Voiceless Four-eyed Freeman and his crowbar

I was always under the impression it was a PC game first (these were the general rumors back in 2004). Considering that I never saw anything else to contradict that I didn't think anything of it. Even more so, the link TC provided clearly states they have a PC build of the game.

That said, if you would have played Killzone in 2004 you could tell it was a rush job to get it out before Halo 2. Tons of game breaking glitches, performance issue, and general loss in level design quality as the game went on pretty much was proof even back in 2004. It was kind of disappointing. I bought Killzone in 2004 for my PS2 and even then I was a bit disappointed by it. I didn't have my Xbox then but I was playing a lot of Timesplitters 2 on the PS2, I had a PC capable of playing older FPSs, and I had played Halo CE on my buddies Xbox and Killzone just didn't really have the same quality of those other games.

I actually still enjoyed it despite the flaws and im going to get this HD version as I believe many of the major issuse that held Killzone back in the first place will be solved with a HD remake.

You can easily do that today now, even on consoles. KZ3 probably has already surpassed that e3 montage. Look my point is, Killzone is dubbed by those fanboys as a Halo killer.

I don't even want to acknowledge the MK-troll in this topic but putting Halo above Half-Life pretty much revokes your gamer's license. Just stick to talking to your own kind as they talk about videogames on this video;

And you can look up some more comparison vids. Look, I don't like Killzone to begin with but I do acknowlegde they lived up to the hype of that montage.

Oh. You mean the 2007 trailer, not the 2005. Big difference. Rememeber, Killzone 2's E3 2005 video was pure CGI BS which a lot of fanboys claimed that they achived in 2007.

You can easily do that today now, even on consoles. KZ3 probably has already surpassed that e3 montage. Look my point is, Killzone is dubbed by those fanboys as a Halo killer.

I don't even want to acknowledge the MK-troll in this topic but putting Halo above Half-Life pretty much revokes your gamer's license. Just stick to talking to your own kind as they talk about videogames on this video;

Nothing this gen, not even anything on the PC, supprased that 2005 E3 trailer. It's too smooth, particle effects too rich, animations WAY too good, much too robust lighting, and way too high of resolution on the models. No visible LoD quality either. Again, not even PC games have that level of polish. That's what really set that trailer apart, the crazy amount of polish it had. Even as a proof-of-concept or in-engine cutscene it was too good.

Never played KZ1 or 3. Maybe I will pick this up at some point in time. Not on my must buy list though. I get my FPS fix from so many other games I view as superior. Not knocking the series, but I think it is more flash than substance.

Matter of fact every single main Halo game outscored both Half-Life games (PC versions). Well Halo 2 and Half-Life 1 scored the same but Reach outscored both Half-life games. LOL at hermits.

Halo gunplay is like im firing a water gun and bullets are like flowersSNIPER4321
SPARTAN-II supersoldiers can lift more than twice their body weight (usually around 125kg/300lbs) unarmored. When in MJOLNIR, this strength is further increased (by another 300% IIRC). On top of sheer strength, MJOLNIR is equipped with recoil counter software, further reducing recoil. Do you really think, in the perspective of this armored giant, a 7.62mm assault rifle is going to feel like anything more than a pop gun? SPARTANs use a 12.7mm sniper rifle as an anti-infantry rifle, that a normal soldier would carry as a two-man team. Which Halo games have you played that made you come to this asinine conclusion regarding the weapons? Because the only one that I know of that fits your description is the M7 SMG in Halo 2 + 3.

score mean bullsh1t. by that logic. MW2 is one of the greatest game of all time. Microsoft is one of the biggest and richest company. and Halo is big popular game no matter how mediocre it is. it always receive perfect scores..

Valve is a huge company and their games get great reviews no matter how mediocre. L4D has basically nothing to do except play a couple hour long campaigns over and over and it got AAA. Counter Strike is outdated and has no content compared to the other top shooters but still gets by on its name cause of nostalgia.
