Watched the first two episodes. Has some cool moments but I’m not particularly loving it so far.

First time I'm hearing about it. Judging from the trailer, it's not gonna be any good. That audience score seems to be more accurate for all I care.

@Jag85: I gotta ask. What's the difference between this new DMC Anime and the Anime from the 2007?

They're two different series:

2007 series is an anime show produced in Japan.

2025 series is a Netflix animated show produced in South Korea and USA.

I've said it before and I say it again.

But video game adaptations are likely going to be better in a TV series format than a movie format.

The footage I have seen of this just looks cool too.

TV adaptations of video games have consistently been receiving critical acclaim in recent years. But the same can't be said for movie adaptations of video games. The long-form content of TV shows is better-suited for video game adaptations.

IMO, intro music Rollin by Limp Bizkit doesn't fit. At all. Much better fit would be Last Resort from Papa Roach

I watched the entire series. It had some great moments and cool music but the allegory's are a bit heavy handed and they managed to make Lady an insufferable cringe machine.

Big difference is the original Anime stay true to the original games, this is slop made by Adi Shankar, who hasn't played the games and made it more about his vision

Am half way through episode 5 now. Warmed up to it a bit more. Think Dante’s voice actor does a good job but some of the dialog comes across a bit more Deadpool-ish then I was expecting. The Enzo character is a straight rip off of Enzo from Bayonetta. Those things aren’t necessarily bad per se but just kind of takes out of the show a bit because I keep thinking about it. The action stuff is really good. Just still feels fairly mid overall though.

Nero not beating the "dead weight" allegations.

*Seriously always liked Nero, just got 100% for DMC4SE not too long ago, dude got way to much shit thrown at him bitd just because they dared have a protag who's not Dante.

Always liked Nero myself. Thought he was a pretty cool character in DMC4 and was even better in DMC5.

Nero's reputation improved after the backlash to DmC Dante... Ironically, DMC5 Nero looks like DmC Dante.

The fact that Dante and Nero prior are both voiced by the second black Power Ranger, Johnny Yong Bosch.

@Jag85: Not sure I really see it, Donte barely has a chin & almost no jawline to speak of, while Nero has a chin that could knock out Vergil.

Donte's ears also have tilted flop while Neros are well rounded.

An argument could be made that they both have very similar well groomed touch kip eyebrows. But I'd argue that's all the men in DMC.

Finally watched it and up to episode 7 now.... its ass lmao 😅

I guess its decent if you never played Devil May Cry, it works as alternate origin story but if you played DMC3 its hard to disassociate.

@Jag85: @FireEmblem_Man: Finally watch the Netflix Devil May Cry. I liked the 2007 Anime series, art design is quite good, Dante's characterization is nice. But it's more of a "Monster-of-the-Week" mercenary-for-hire episodic as I had to rewatch that series before jumping to the Netflix and honestly, it feels where the 2025 series is more narrative focused and leans into the over-the-top style more. I have 3 episodes left to watch and I can already tell I'm enjoying it more than most. I really like the voice acting, animation is top notch, music choices really lean into it, great villains. I guess the criticisms I've seen don't bother me much as I'm not a die-hardcore of the Devil May Cry games despite I enjoy them all...and yes, even the DmC as I treat it as an else-world type. Lady is kinda of the most Edgelord around due to her dropping the F-bombs a lot.

I enjoyed the first few episodes, but it started to feel like they were trying to be Saturday morning cartoons or something. And the enemy design was kind of bland. But I’m going to finish out the first season!
