  • Forza 7 runs well at 60fps on all platforms at 1080p/4K
  • Xbox One X appears to be using Ultra/High PC settings
  • Main difference is that X version uses EQAA vs MSAA 8X on PC
  • AA quality difference is minimal.
  • Xbox One X footage shows identical quality to a high end PC
  • Color grading and lighting appear to be different but could be different time of day or artistic change
  • Base Xbox One 1080p/60
  • Base Xbox One X hold up well against X and PC
  • Xbox One LOD is reduced for distant objects
  • AF on Xbox One ranges from 4X to 8X depending on the scene
  • Shadow quality, foliage, motion blur, and lighting are slightly reduced but not so much that they're really noticeable
  • What sticks out the most between X/PC and Xbox One is resolution, draw distance, and texture quality

@Zero_epyon:

AMD's EQAA 8:4 means MSAA 4X resource usage with MSAA 8X like result.

MS exploited X1X's RBE improvements with 2MB render cache and higher memory bandwidth when compared to RX-580. RBE contains MSAA hardware.

Looks like they've done pretty well but there needs to be an option to switch off motion blur and DoF in the PC version.

I thought I saw an option for motion blur at least.

FM7 demo PC build has motion blur (dynamic, off, low, medium, high, ultra) setting.

Try running that on GTX 1060.

With MSAA 2X and youtube poster making excuses on why higher MSAA setting is not needed. Youtube poster overclocked his GTX 1060 to 2088 Mhz core (~5.4 TFLOPS) and increased memory bandwidth to 211 GBps.

I'm surprised they didn't get into the issues that the PC version is having. I got afterburner to work finally and it shows one cpu core going to 100% while the others appear to be idle. Supposedly it's supposed to use all of them.

@ronvalencia: Why not post the whole video Ron?

Lemme guess, that's a screenshot of a frame drop to 46, while the rest of the video is 60 fps. Amirite?

Lol and it's using a pentium for the cpu. Hahahaha.

PC CPU problem wouldn't matter until they remove 60 hz limit. Use scale resolution to 200 percent (>16 million pixels, effectively super sampled AA) on higher grade PC GPUs.

This Vega 56 has been overclocked, hence it's very close to Vega 64 i.e. similar 484 GBps memory bandwidth and GPU clock speeds.

Why would I want to run at 8K? I just want all cores to be used like they said it would.

It isn't supposed to? That's odd because Turn 10 said this:

Forza Motorsport 7 is not limited to running on one core. There seems to have been a miscommunication along the way. “Forza Motorsport 7” uses as many cores as are available on whatever system it runs on, whether that is a 4- to 16-core PC or the 7 cores available on Xbox One.

I have posted the video on other topics. My old GTX 980 Ti in silent mode (1226Mhz) doesn't dip to 46 fps in the same track scene.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw03aXdf3dI&t=840s

GTX 1060 OC(2088Mhz)'s MSAA 2X with non-solid 60 fps results.

For solid 60 hz results, GTX 1060 needs extra compute headroom.

For MSAA 4X and MSAA 8X solid 60 hz results, GTX 1060 needs extra memory bandwidth and L2 cache.

If you want a performance car irl that you can drive (doesn't break down all the time) you get a Porsche, Mercedes, or a Chevy. Porsche is da bomb in the car world. They set the standard everybody else wants to be at.

@Zero_epyon: But does the XB1 version runs replays at 60fps/1080p & does the X version run replays at 4k/60fps because if not it will lose a point in it's gamespot review.

Of course, what is "high-ultra" on PC is, in essence, whatever MS wanted to make it. There is literally nothing stopping them from maximizing 4k 60FPS performance on the X1, and calling that PC Ultra, and setting that as the cap for the PC version. That's something that never comes up in these discussions - every game ever made is its own unique product, and there is no singular meaning to "high" or "ultra" on PC - it's whatever the devs decided to draw the line at based on what type of pcs are on the market, cases where the engine starts to show its limitations, or other less pleasant reasons like parity/time/money. It is what it is.

Now, the X1X version looks amazing - I truly can't really see what more I would want out of the visuals. And thus, if that's the Ultra setting on PC then that's fine for me. But just saying...

lol that's a good question. I think replays replay at the current resolution but at 30fps. So it'll definitely get a 5 here for that.

i7-4790K can fake G4560's dual core/4 threads CPU setup i.e. disable the two cores or set CPU affinity.

97 percent GPU usage at 46 fps dip, that's mostly GPU bound.

Edit: I run with fake dual core/4 threads with GTX 980 Ti, 60 fps with very similar track scene. I also run FM7 demo on the secondary Western Digital Green (5400 RPM) series HDD 1TB.

At IPC, G4560 Kaby Lake has a slightly superior single thread performance than my Haswell CPU.

I've mentioned that once I believe. But not specifically about Forza. But you're 100% right. Ultra settings aren't universal. An indie game can have ultra settings, but it'll be no where near as demanding as, let's say, Metro Exodus, on ultra. Doesn't mean the game looks bad, but I think they could have made the PC version look and perform better. Just take a look at other racers like Project Cars 1 and 2 on PC. Visually, they outclass Forza 7, imo.

Also Chevy and Ford makes some of the best Bang Per buck Sports cars Unlike High priced Mercedes Benzes.

This game looks great all around, can't wait to pick it up. I'll be playing it first on the Xbox One then once I get an Xbox One X I'll be playing it on that. Going to be great times.

Yeah, there is a difference between us, cause its the other way around here.

Bens are cheaper compared to Ford, Chevy and Dodge in Europe. Excluding the Focus and and the Daewoos Chevys we have here.

And Porsche is kind of the stuck in a model loop, so they get shit for it.

Anyway, FM7 demo has narrow MT usage already.

The main purpose for G4560+GTX1060 is for potato PC vs potato X1X.

PS; I wouldn't guarantee X1X will deliver GTX 1070 level performance since AMD's tile cache rendering is less mature than NVIDIA's version, hence less consistency for X1X.

PC can go beyond 100 percent resolution scale i.e. 200 percent resolution scale's ~16 million pixels vs normal 4K's ~8 million pixels. Refer to Vega 56 OC (similar clock speed and memory bandwidth as Vega 64) example.

Wow, the base version is solid. Well done. Wish they didn't cram so much Porsche in it doe.

If you want a performance car irl that you can drive (doesn't break down all the time) you get a Porsche, Mercedes, or a Chevy. Porsche is da bomb in the car world. They set the standard everybody else wants to be at.

A Porsche is just a VW.

And lol a Chevy. Don't compare that trash with Bens ever again.

No Porsche is NOT just a VW. Just because VW took over Porshe when Porshe couldn't make payments from the VW buy out doesn't mean they are one in the same.

Also Chevy and Ford makes some of the best Bang Per buck Sports cars Unlike High priced Mercedes Benzes.

Tariffs must be ridiculous for a Chevy or Ford to cost more than a Mercedes in Europe. The Benzes they sell in the U.S. are mostly Luxury cars although there are a few compact Benzes that are affordable to the middle class.

@ronvalencia: Why not post the whole video Ron?

Lemme guess, that's a screenshot of a frame drop to 46, while the rest of the video is 60 fps. Amirite?

Lol and it's using a pentium for the cpu. Hahahaha.

Here it is.

LOL. It really is running at high 50's-60 most of the time.

Youtube's GTX 1060 OC has lower MSAA 2X setting... while it's rock solid 60 hz on X1X with higher quality near MSAA 8X level.

Stock GTX 1060 will be slower than Youtube's GTX 1060 OC at 2088Mhz.

Looks like all three versions run very well. Proves the talent that Turn 10 has and the ease MS has delivered their studios when it comes to porting between all the systems.

I would like to see what Turn 10 could do if they were allowed to push the GTX1080TI to its limits with this game and call that Ultra settings.

@EG101:

They are insane. Not to mention repairs are high too.

Friend dented his Ford Mustang in the rear and it will cost him 2k to fix it. While a M4 rear dent is just 400 euro.

@ronvalencia: nitpicking screenshots while spamming is not being right, it's being dishonest and wrong. There are already videos of a GTX 1060 running the game as well as the 1X. So you were wrong all this time wrongvalencia, just like we told you and you refused to learn.

The only dishonest post is you while X1X has a solid 60 fps with near MSAA 8X quality.
