Diablo 3 to be a MMO ( prediction ) !

well , Knowing the popularity of WoW , and the money Blizzard is making from it , it's almost already wroten in the stars :

"Diablo 3 is going to be a freaking MMORPG" - God 

anyway... What you guys want , a MMO or the same Diablo formula ( offline mode + Battle.net )? 

I hate all MMOs, and I'm a PC gamer. I'd rather have Starcraft 2, anyways.TrueReligion_

That would make me despise Blizzard for the rest of my life. MMORPG's suck and they do nothing for the gaming industry except further the perversion of nerds... need proof? Here is some. (thanks to proctorsurf in OT for the link)foxhound_fox

Going to have to defend the realm here, Fox. While MMOs suck in general, WoW is an insanely great game. If you think that the success of MMOs are doing nothing for the gaming industry, you really need to open your eyes.

Also, keep in mind that idiocy is not unique to the MMO world. Remember the shootings and deaths in the PS3 launch? How about the Pokemon card robbery incidents? How about the Korean man who died of heart failure after playing several days straight of Starcraft/Diablo 2? 

it would kill the series and end up way too similar to World Of Warcraft, diablo world isnt rich enough to make it as a mmo(not enough races/clases/places to visit) when they made wow they already had a world map lots of places , npc's and background history, diablo hasnt the same ammount of "culture' to make it. and the oldschool diablo is much better imo

now a starcraft mmo could be done (even tho it woudnt intrest me and i rather a starcraft2 or the starcraft ghost project then another mmo)

They should release it for the PS3 thats all i got to say Norg

blizzard usualy goes multiplataform with the diablo series, it they do it for pc there will probly be a port

The only Diablo that went multiplat was Diablo 1. Diablo 2 was never released for a console.

Diablo 3 will still be a ARPG but with that said it's like a MMO it's massivly multiplayer sure there in spereate 6 man rooms but it's still has a massive amount of players who can stop by your room. I wouldn't change it cause it's free why pay for it? Diablo 2 is just fine like it is it's like an Action RPGMMO we have wow for MMORPG, so i don't think they will and starcraft may be a MMO so i highly doubt ther gonna make 3 MMO.

Diablo 2 anouncement -> release = 5 years.

 So you can forget about this, even if they start to do it right nowyou'll see this game in  2012

I doubt that. They didn't do it with Diablo2 and recently Blizzard has closed and disbanded all their console teams and refocused exclusivily on PC. You're not going to see any console games from Blizzard, not this gen at least

 hate to break it to you but that formula is used for thousands if not millions of games what makes WoW so Similar to Diablo

You just about described every RPG. Congrats.

WoW is more complicated in design than Diablo. All you do in Diablo is click, click and click some more. Hell, you can basically go through Diablo 2 without much thought, clicking on things for hours on end. Not saying it's bad (Hell, it's what makes Diablo...Diablo) but the game is simply more braindead than WoW.

The only things WoW and Diablo have in common are the item and talent systems. Aside from that, they play nowhere near alike. Lets also add to the fact that Diablo can be played as a 100% single player game. Try that with WoW.

Yeah. The only difference is that you actually have fun playing Diablo instead of grinding 24/7.

I really don't see the point.  Diablo III would basically be a WoW clone MMO wise and would add very little to it (you already get a persistent online identity in diablo II via battlenet, it is just 100% instance if you will).  Starcraft would make more sense as a new MMO as it's a totally different setting with the possibilities for a radically different approach.

theres no reason for people to bash his opinion to me Diablo is like a Week MMO since it's only in rooms of 8 but it's not so far off to bash his opinion. you can say Diablo Opened the gate for MMORPG's all you do in wow differant is click on your Spells and abalitys rather than set them  to left or right click i have2 LVL 60's in WOW a rogue and a druid and one of the things i love about Diablo 2 and Titan Quest is it's like a MMO lite with free online. It's not that far off. if you don't think yolur so obviously didn't play both like i did.

Also the way Blizzard works is they make 1 expansion for each game Then move on to other games in there series.

WC3 had 1 expansion,Star Craft had 1 , diablo had 1 and now WOW has 1. WOW may get more than one since it's so popular but i don't think theres gonna be more than 2. blizzard already announced there making Diablo 3 and Some type of Starcraft game. they don't need all there resources just to make expansiuons for WOW they can do that with a small group and the real teams are making Diablo 3 and StarCraft. If you want a Free MMO type of experiance by all means diablo 2 is that. you get gear and it's always cool to trick your guy out and thats all MMO is really in the end. WOW ofcourse is way more in depth with BG's and a Complex boss system but in the end it's not far of from a Massivly Multiplayer experiance. 

Disagree.  Honestly World of Warcraft is already so very close to what I would have expected a Diablo MMORPG to be, minus the evil context.  Blizzard wouldn't create another MMO what will compete against itself.  They've already stated if (when) they do another MMORPG it will be significantly different from World of Warcraft.

I expect Diablo 3 to be Blizzard's answer to a game like Guild Wars.  Kinda/sorta but-not-really an MMORPG, where you can mingle with others in town but when you leave to adventure its only you and your party, no others wandering around the landscape.

I've played WoW on and off since Feb 2005. I'd say his description isn't that far off. That really is the core of the gameplay. Its why my Warlock is stuck at 45 right now and my 70 hunter isn't anywhere near finishing all the new expansion content; the core gameplay gets really stale to me after a while and I need to take some time off to refresh. Sure it has social aspects but IMO, whether playing solo or in groups or raids still doesn't change the core gameplay: level, battle enemies, get new loot, repeat.

If you're comparing WoW to Diablo just because you fight monsters, level and collect items, you're being way too vague. The fact is that WoW and Diablo are nothing alike. To state they are and use a weak argument like that is faulty logic.

I would get into detail why both are nowhere near similar (Which is not opinion but facts) but we'd be here all day.
