Blizzard always knows how to do it with these cutscenes. Grr, now where is my release date!?

Zing! Beta is a lot of fun, eh?[QUOTE="NAPK1NS"][QUOTE="Zophar87"]

Calling it an absolute blast would be an understatement. I am extremely satisfied with Diablo III as of now.
So addictive. Watching videos... meh, just doesn't sell it. Once you sit down and start getting loot drops again it just... feels awesome. RPGs are, as of late, very focused on creating a narrative that weighs into the game play a little bit. Thank god we have a RPG that just lets me have addictive fun again.[QUOTE="Zophar87"][QUOTE="NAPK1NS"]Zing! Beta is a lot of fun, eh?NAPK1NS

This game is definitely more story-driven. However, it fleshes out extremely well and it only comes at you in small spurts. Once you get a Massacre Bonus of 100+ enemies from triggering a gauntlet event, you'll get exactly what I'm saying.
It's not just here, it's on basically every forum involving gaming -- including Blizzard's own forums and MMO-champion. They've received a lot of hate lately and it's justified. They've had a very far fall from grace since ~08.I love the Blizzard hate on SW. It's #$@%ing hilarious.

I've been a fan of blizzard games since starcraft and hell I still subscribe to WoW, but there's no denying that their writing and stories have slipped hard in the past few years. Right around the end of Wrath it started becoming trite garbage.I love the Blizzard hate on SW. It's #$@%ing hilarious.

Yeah. If you say so. Blizzard has always gotten unnecessary backlash but continues to keep pumping out solid titles.

Right around the end of Wrath it started becoming trite garbage. Same, well minus the subscription to WoW. I used to be the biggest Blizzard fanboy in the world but since WoTLK I've started to really despise them. For whatever reason I still hang around the Blizzard forums, Teamliquid, and MMO-champ but I don't even play their games anymore. Sigh, just a bad habit I guess.......I just wish they would start caring for their games more. But it's becoming more and more apparent all they care about now is money and cheap titles to attract the masses. I think that's why they're dumbing down their writing so bad.[QUOTE="Zophar87"]

As far as WoW is concerned? Yes, I completely agree.
But playing a Blizzard game for it's story is like watching the Star Wars prequels for Hayden Christensen.

They're solid, but they're not AMAZING like they used to be. Every new Blizzard game pushed its genre forward, even if it wasn't incredibly innovative (like WoW IMO, it added such fluid and actiony gameplay to the MMO genre which wasn't really heard of back then -- and everything else was HQ). But SC2 was a joke in writing compared to the 1st one (at least BW) and it didn't do ANYTHING to push the RTS genre forward like WC3 did. Wc3 introduced heroes, items, a leveling system, and a whole bunch of other stuff RTS hadn't seen by 2001 (2002?). They just seem to be cashgrabby these days and putting less content into their games. If you play Cataclysm, you'd know what I mean.I've been a fan of blizzard games since starcraft and hell I still subscribe to WoW, but there's no denying that their writing and stories have slipped hard in the past few years. But I liked the story in starcraft and WC3, when the character's weren't 1 dimensional and you actually cared about them because they didn't talk in one abysmal cliche after another. Go look at the ending cinematic of cataclysm and the end of WC3 or Frozen Throne, and try telling me they're even in the same league.[QUOTE="Zophar87"]

The end of Cataclysm and the announcement of MoP basically cemented your facts.
I've played Diablo 3 and as a huge fan of that franchise I am satisfied with the evolution that's it has taken on.

If you're going to play Diablo for the dialogue/story/VA.. you're doing it wrong.
This game is going to be so awesome. I was in like 3rd grade when I started playing D2: LoD. And now I'm in college and I feel like I'm in 3rd grade all over again waiting for this game to come out!!

My bad bro. I looked it up and it was actually more like.. 4th grade or right before 5th when I think LoD came out.
Does that help at all?

You calling me "bro" certainly didn't help.
It sucks. It's incredible that despite how much time and money went into making this cinematic, it's pales in comparison to the original diablo's opening cinematic, which actually had a soul and a sense of foreboding events. This is just another over-bloated, cringe-inducing embarrassment carried over from starcraft 2. And let's not mention the women looks like a character from final fantasy series who just came back from a salon. runbleduck
My thoughts exactly, it just comes off as so generic despite the high production values. Diablo 2 is on my Top 5 All Time list, so watching Activision spoil the series physically pains me...

I hate how they pretty much killed the Warcraft story with WoW.... made it an absolute joke. I dont even know how they can even be considered a top tier developer anymore, heck even the likes of Naughty Dog, Epic and Bioware push out more AA and AAA titles than Blizzard these days. aaaaand if you want to know how bad the plot and characters in blizzard games are these days, its worse than the plot and characters in gears of war. Yes, its THAT bad.while i did like lod i do wonder why the keep brining him when we keep killing him. spoiler art! diablo dies in the game! breaking news! diablo returns in diablo 4. seriously can we have a new main character? like maybe the spawn of diablo or something. im sure blizzard can think of something. yes its is sounding like im hating the game but one should not be so blinded by a video game(and to be blinded by something let alone a video is sad) and able to point outs its flaws
