a shame really. hoping this person from blizzard gets fired

link

If you?ve been browsing the Real Money Auction House (RMAH) lately, you?ll notice a lot of in-game items with prices ranging from $1.00 to a limit of $250. Players selling the items have the choice to sell the items, and be paid with real money?which is added to their Battle.net accounts?or to their PayPal account. We?re talking about real money which can be deposited to a bank account for paying the bills.

Weavols, the Diablo III player in the spotlight, was mentioned in a thread titled ?BLIZZARD STEALS FROM A PLAYER? on the Battle.net forums with this image attached.

The correspondence between Weavols and Blizzard Game Masters shows a feigned interest from customer service, and the volume of canned responses from GM?s has not gone unnoticed by the community. After a phone call with Battle.net support and support ticket follow-ups, for this player it?s been a full week of what any small business has to go through when chasing down money from flakey clients.

Here?s the breakdown:

Blizzard customer service follows up with a ticket from a previous phone call with Weavols.

Weavols replies to the ticket status, stating he has not received any money for the item.

Another Blizzard customer service rep responds with very impersonal canned response Weavols replies to the ticket with ?It has been 5 days. No money, no item. It was a $99 dollar sale. Please halp.?

Customer service rep reply with canned response intro, and refers to an investigation of Weavols? auction house activity log with no record of him selling the item.

Weavols points out where it can be seen.

Customer service canned response, adding that they ?personally taken a look? at the situation. Weavols replies with ?We?re talking about a hundred dollars. That doesn?t just disappear into the wind and you get to apologize. Completely unacceptable.

You really need to make this right.? Canned response intro, apology for ?confusing? the items. Customer service cites the wrong item, thinks Weavols was trying to buy an item himself.

Weavols clarifies he was not the buyer, but the seller himself. Offers to take a screenshot of his auction house activity log.

Final ticket reply from customer service states ?We are unable to tinker with Auction House issues as Game Masters have limited functionality when it comes to supporting Diablo III.? Apologizes for the inconvenience.

I always had a bad feeling about the real money auction. I would say this wont be the only time we hear about something like this, if Blizzard don't get there act together they are going to get a crap load of backlash off the real money auction alone, never mind all the other things that people have been complaining about.

I'm going on a limb here. I bet the new EULA you agree to for the RMAH relieves Blizzard of any liability since its going to be full of chinese gold farmers/scammers. Best bet is to not use it IMO.

I cant believ how low PC gaming has gone, i mean a few years back having online only SP games and Auction houses would be the ultimate joke and not a soul would believe such an abomination of a game could ever happen

And today new gamers eat it up like sheep, it is strange how people become a company's pawns and dance to their rythm

Sometime i wonder where the world is going to

What MMO are we talking about here cuz pretty much all of em are on PC and millions of PC gamers don't mind paying the subscription fee. So why do you think Xbox gamers would care about paying 50-60 a year?

Glad I got a refund for that awful game. Blizzard has been downgrading to **** tier ever since around Wrath of the Lich King. Pathetic company, like Bioware.

On another note, Diablo 3 did one thing good. It showed how much of a joke gaming journalism is with all the reviews coming out only a couple days from release. They obviously didn't play through the game after normal to see how awful it gets -- but even then, normal wasn't that good. I wonder how much Actiblizzard shelled out to reviewers.

It's obvious Activision is ruining Blizzard, they are the cancer of the gaming industry. It's no coincidence all these controversial things with Blizzard only started since Activision aquired them.

You dont get it. Of course its going to MINIMIZE scamming since you have some protection with paypal but chinese gold farmers steal credit cards, use paypal to pay you, then after the item is sold Paypal spots the fraudulent credit card and revokes payment. Happens all the time. How do you think gold farmers get so many accounts?

This is the same reason why Blizz is giving you a starter account when you pay for Diablo 3 digitally. The farmers pay with fraudulent credit cards, get access to the game, spam the hell out of it, then Blizz finds out its a bad card and shuts them down. By giving the starter edition first, they will be able to spot the bad cards before they can play the game.

Live is a huge waste of money but thats for a different thread. I admit, I pay for live but I get the exact same things I get from PSN, yet I'm not paying for that. MS is also pretty slimey being that it wont let me even delete my payment method from the xbox, it gives me an error and I need to call, when I call I'm on hold for 20 minutes. Crazy.

I cannot believe a person would up to $250 for one item. I wouldn't even spend $5. The ****?

It's a test, once Blizzard can see just exactly what peoples are willing to pay they'll soon add the same concept to WoW or Titan as gear vendors. I mean why farm tokens for exchange for gear when peoples bank accounts are already full of tokens.

I'm probably better informed than you are. Granted 'aquired' was a bad choice of words, but they merged with Activision as the dominant partner. And while it may be true that Blizzard remains 'independent' for the most part on how they make their games, they are definitely not when it comes to business models for their games. Things like the RMAH (Which is the main thing ruining D3. The whole game is balanced with RMAH in mind, it's just so obvious) or the decision to make Starcraft 2 into 3 separated games instead of 1 with all 3 campaigns, all the paid services they added in WoW shortly after the merge etc...All this is from Activision influence. If you really believe Activision has no impact on Blizzard at all, you're very delusional.

Blizzard's president Mike Morhaime answers to COO Thomas Tippl who directly reports to Bobby Kotick. So, in short: Kotick has a final word on what Blizzard does nowadays. That change was made in 2010.

They take $1 for each transaction regardless of the amount. the 15% goes to Paypal, not Blizzard, unless they have some undisclosed deal with Paypal.
