Did CDPR missed Opportunity to make Keanu Reeves as Main protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077?

Hello friends,

So this years E3, Cyberpunk 2077 reveal trailer ended with keanu reeves surprised. but it make me think why did CDPR hire him just to play a sidekick? why not main protagonist? I mean he was main protagonist of Matrix that is sci fi cyberpunk movie. and Cyberpunk releasing 20 years after Deus Ex 1.

instead of customized character which the concept I always hate. i prefer full fledge protagonist. the should have made him Main character called V played by Keanu reeves. I mean witcher had geralt who is proper character. why not make a proper character in cyberpunk played by reeves?

He's an OK actor, but if I was a game studio I would avoid Hollywood actors just because if you decide you want to make a sequel of expansion with the same character they might decide they have better things to do, better to have a generic dude that you can replace or tempt back with a Snickers bar.

I'm actually kinda into creating my own character for such an RP heavy game. Don't get me wrong I loved Geralt, but I'm glad they change it up sometimes.

No having a fixed main character doesn't work with the way they have designed CP2077, to say nothing of Keanu's acting ability.

Deus Ex have fixed Main character (JC Denton/Adam Jensen).

why cant this? imagine if V played by keannu. and he is on cover of cyberpunk instead of generic dude.

So, because you hate character customization you think everyone else hates it. LOL. Man, character customization is a huge element in RPG games. It cannot be understated how much people care about customization. Your proposal is actually the absolute and definitive opposite of a missed opportunity.

When i will play Cyberpunk. I will choose by default male character who is on cover.

dont have enough time to customize him.

I highly doubt they could pay him for more than 30mins. Keifer Sutherland whose star power is many times less than Keanu still gets millions barely saying anything in MGSV.

Not that jake is the best but he is always entertaining to watch in the different roles he plays. Keanu is a freaking wood when it come to acting.

I've seen Tom Cruise play a more convincing badass than Keanu Reeves lol. The Matrix is one of the most overrated movies of all time and I say this as an action movie enthusiast.

No. Every game doesn't have to be Death Stranding with some Hollywood star as the main protagonist. I really hope that doesn't become a trend. I much prefer the road they took this time. The Witcher 3 was great but it also already had it's own source material. This is something completely new that's aiming to be a completely different experience than The Witcher 3.

It would take away from ability to create one's own character; so, better he's a supporting character.
