Ive played it a lot but can't see the good points, the whole thing feels old. They took an engine from someone else and added the normal clear move on shooter system and a repetitive online shooter like every other fps on the xbox 360. Nothing stands out as an achievement other then graphics and that wasn't them, the level design was dull and repetitive, and the few enemies and weapons was weak from a huge next gen title, and why was there more bosses in cut scenes then actual game play.

So what achievements will MGS4 or FFXIII or whatever your most hyped game make? I'd like to know.

It achieved at being a very fun game that most can just pick up and enjoy.Baird-06Indeed. And for the hard core crowd, the higher difficulties are excellent.
Gears of War has recieved high scores from almost everywhere. It's been given Game of the Year by most. It's sold tons of copies and is the most played game on Xbox Live. You're asking us if it achieved anything? Ptolemaueus

3. It has the Best Graphics of ANY Currently Released game on ANY Platform.
4. It Scored a 9.6 Here at Gamespot
5. It won a BAZILLION Awards, MANY of which were GOTY Awards, including GOTY here at Gamespot.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Epic create UE3.0? If so, how did they use someone elses engine?

actually the stop and pop system isn't unique. maybe to this generation it is but it is pretty much an exact replica of another game from a previous generation.
yes to great graphics, very good characters, some excellent new weapons.
I don't see what your talking about art design.
Gears wouldn't have fit on DVD uncompressed. so trying to make the claim that DVD's are just fine is more of an opinion then fact. it is a preference.

Epic stole the engine from another company called Epic, true stroy.

Gears of War achieved alot my roomate never plays video games as soon as I told him to try this game out with me he was hooked and this guy hasnt played video games in over 10 years!!! I think that GEOW was able to draw in people that have not played games before or have not played in awhile I was kinda skeptical about GEOW when it first came out I just picked it up a month ago and I was hooked so that is an achievement to get me to play this shooter all the way through Im more of a double dragon/final fight kind of gamer I think that GEOW got all the hype it deserved and more.
