Ive played it a lot but can't see the good points, the whole thing feels old. They took an engine from someone else and added the normal clear move on shooter system and a repetitive online shooter like every other fps on the xbox 360. Nothing stands out as an achievement other then graphics and that wasn't them, the level design was dull and repetitive, and the few enemies and weapons was weak from a huge next gen title, and why was there more bosses in cut scenes then actual game play.

It was really fun, and a graphical showcase. Not to mention, it has some crazy replayability with Coop and versus online modes... That's why Halo 2 is still a success.

So what achievements will MGS4 or FFXIII or whatever your most hyped game make?  I'd like to know.

it made lot's of gamers have a really quality fun time. it has a new and great cover system and untill then no console ever had such good graphics. And they made that game with a relative small budget.

it achieved a great single and multiplayer gameplay experience. also how did epic take the engine from someone else when it was them that made it in the first place?

Things Gears Achieved:

Unique "stop and pop" cover system that adds to gameplay

New Standard of Graphics according to many reviews

Great Art Design

Great Characters

Great Weapons

It also dispels the need for more space with regular DVDs.  What game has better graphics than Gears?

I got tired of it after just a few hours. It's a great game, but not much replay value or creativity, especially when it comes to the online modes.

Gears of War has recieved high scores from almost everywhere.  It's been given Game of the Year by most.  It's sold tons of copies and is the most played game on Xbox Live.  You're asking us if it achieved anything?

Did it Achieve anything?

Hmmm.... Let's see.

1. It's the Most Played XBL game.

2. It sold 3 Million+ Copies so far

3. It has the Best Graphics of ANY Currently Released game on ANY Platform.

4. It Scored a 9.6 Here at Gamespot

5. It won a BAZILLION Awards, MANY of which were GOTY Awards, including GOTY here at Gamespot.

So did it achieve anything?

Nope. Nothing at all.8)

It was FUN, something that you don't necesarily need any form of motion-sensing or huge innovation for. Games are meant to be fun and this one sure is a hell of a lot of fun.

actually the stop and pop system isn't unique. maybe to this generation it is but it is pretty much an exact replica of another game from a previous generation.

yes to great graphics, very good characters, some excellent new weapons.

I don't see what your talking about art design.

Gears wouldn't have fit on DVD uncompressed. so trying to make the claim that DVD's are just fine is more of an opinion then fact. it is a preference.

epic are the creators of unreal engine. the engine is the software in which the dev's use to create games. the unreal engine 3 is also licensed for use by many other dev's. they created it. you may mean idea or gameplay, but who cares you said engine. and that alone shows you know not what you speak.

Explain to me what you mean by "They took an engine from someone else" when Epic is responsible for the engine that it uses?

Gears of War achieved alot my roomate never plays video games as soon as I told him to try this game out with me he was hooked and this guy hasnt played video games in over 10 years!!! I think that GEOW was able to draw in people that have not played games before or have not played in awhile I was kinda skeptical about GEOW when it first came out I just picked it up a month ago and I was hooked so that is an achievement to get me to play this shooter all the way through Im more of a double dragon/final fight kind of gamer I think that GEOW got all the hype it deserved and more.

While you were "playing" it did you realize that it wasn't a fps?
