I think they did know there where a few miner issues at first when they released it, but diddn't know thousands of them where going to go RROD eventually.. Jus remember they've spent millions on warrentys. They wouldn't do that to themselves. :|

Mine has not had any problems. It was bought on release day too.

The XBox 360 and PS3 were both rushed. X360 had hardware issues while the PS3 had software issues. The only console that had mininal signs of being rushed was the Wii, but in compensation it can't keep up with demand.

I'm not sure why you directed your post at me but.

I already have my flame suit on so no worries but let me put a disclaimer: I say this in regard to best system in general not the best system for ME. PC is my "drug of choice" and it isbecause of CS:S and keyboard and mouse support being STANDARD. I actually also have a PS3 and would LIKE to see that do much better.

However, The reality of the situation is that the 360 has had consistently great games from its launch to NOW. I remember putting in COD2, PGR3 and being very happy with the overall package. Then Fight Night GRAW and Gears of War really showed a good leap in progress. These are just games I had (i know there are many more showcases like oblivion etc). My friend said "the 360 is similar to the dreamcast in quality of games but over a longer period of time." I reflected on that and agree. Now there is Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and many other AAA games out there.

Love it or hate it (and I hate the 3 rings of death though it hasn't happened to me yet and other issues with the system) but it really is turning out to be an amazing system with amazing games.

They rushed it out with out doing thorough QC. The RROD issue has been addressed. The new system being released now have the new heat_sink copper connection and a cooler CPU that doesn't overheat. M$ next step with be to include a cooler GPU chip and that should get rid of the RROD permanently.

Yes. But it is a question of to what degree. MS took a calculated risk by rushing the XBox 360, but I doubt they thought it would have as many problems as it had.

I started asking around to determine how many people were having problems. Turns out EVERY Xbox 360 owner I contacted had either experienced the red rings, or knew at least one person who did. Some have even had problems with their replaced, "repaired" consoles. (Although when I sent out threads in some chatrooms about this, I got some very nasty responses--I was even accused of being a "Sony Fanboy" posing as a journalist!) Microsoft won't say how many consoles are being sent back to be refurbished, but some retailers speculate it could be 30 percent.

The bold made me laugh.

I don't think it is 30% but I know two people who have gotten RROD. I know quite a bit of people who have 360s and those ones are working fine. If my bold didn't come out well it is the words in the parenthesis. .
