Did Sheep get treated this badly when the Gamecube failed?

As a long-time Sony gamer I want to know if Sheep got it this bad from gamers, fanboys, developersand the media when their console flopped hard. Did the media constantly go out of there way to thrash it, say it has no games, and question its existance? Did gamers constantly cry for Nintendo to die, compare the Gamecube to the Dreamcast and laugh at its sales? Did developers come out and speak publically about it being too hard to develop for or being a complete waste of time?

What's the deal?

I dont think so. Cows were cocky, Lemmings i dont know, and sheep were well, upset i guess. i wasnt here that long ago to tell you.

however, Most of the people on System wars are too stupid to realize that theirs good games on all consoles, yet seem to stick w/ only 1 (i dont mean BUYING only one, i mean, stick to one console and bash the others).

i enjoy all, and their are many games on the Wii that you can enjoy.

I'm admitting right now the outlook is bleak for console war victory. Though, like Sheep claimed last year, as long as I get a good 4-5 years of gaming out of it (which the rest of this year and next year's lineups should provide for a start), I won't be too concerned.

The last arrogant Cow statements where along the lines of "Playstation 3 is going to leave Xbox and Revolution behind in a trail of dust".

All joke aside, Nintendo gamers back in the Post-SNES, N64 era really pissed me off when I ran with the PSone. Granted, sales wise the PSone won big time, but Nintendo gamers then to me were much like myself and my fellow Cows during the PS2 run.

as long you get those sony exclusives that you know you'll like.......you'll be happy....just like how many of the sheep were happy with their console last gen, regardless of how well their console did in the market.

In terms of sales it may have failed, but it was the most powerful system last generation like the PS3 is this gen. There may be a pattern there. I enjoy my Gamecube more than any other system last generation.Spindoc_SEI

You may think the Gamecube failed when looking at the Xbox and PS2. That's fine, more power to you. But if your saying the Gamecube failed by itself, and not IN COMPARISON to the other consoles, then I disagree.

What does the present now have to do with the past? BTW, I look at games, not sales, and judging the games from the Gamecube, it is no faliure. The Virtual Boy? THAT was a faliure.

The fact of the matter is, the only place the Gamecube failed was system wars.

Nintendo still made money on every console sold, the Gamecube had the most GOTY's, and it was my, and many others, favorite console last generation.

their was nintendo bashing cause of the way the hardware looked. but really back then nintendo sony would combine all their systems sells into one and throw the numbers around. but what really sepperated the systems and the fun was the games ps2 had didnt have best graphics but it had games people wanted to play.

but anyways back to nintendo being bash like sony is today well nintendo fans said they had better quality games sony fans say they had more games well people bashed sony for lying about graphics while nintendo and microsoft pulled through.

the bashing was kinda even early ps2 adapter werent very happy with ps2s graphics xbox fans werent happy with the controller and nintendo fans werent happy about the way it looked. but really cant remember exactly how the fans reacted but can remember how the media reacted wasnt pretty sony ps2 was always getting bashed for everything dvd aol online.

the console wars didnt seem as big as they are now before people would just spill their thoughts about what was wrong with each system. well a lot of the hardcore fans wanted xbox for its graphics. while others where just waiting. well the next year sony dropped the price of ps2 earlier then expected and boosted sells up like crazy and they never really slowed down much. well except in 2003 but later on in 2003 they regained grond.

but think a lot of people were just sony pros so wasnt mcuh of a system wars. but it always seemed more about the games then sales at that time.

The purple purse was still in the game up until after Paper Mario was released, everything then just turned into silence. It was between the cows and lemmings with the hermits laughing at the side linesat that point.

well i can say this. sheep use to get owned like every other second on gamespot last generation. it was easy to own sheep because they really didnt have anything to argue with except for the fact that nintendo made the most money.. :?-Renegade

Well there's a big difference.

The Gamecube, which I have, is a fantastic console with some great games.

The Wii, which I had, is a piece of crap casual machine made soley so Nintendo could profit off of girls and old people who would never usually be gamers. It's contaminated with shovelware, ports, and sequels of Nintendo games. Nintendo basically betrayed it's fanbase by making a console not for them, but for simple minded casuals. It is Nintendo's mission to kill hardcore gaming as we know it, and replace it with casual games aimed at the kiddy crowd. So really, they and their crap console deserve all the criticism they can get.

sales weren't the greatest but it had some amazing games, including GOTYs

Exactly. I do think Sony will come back and take this gen and the cows will be their old arrogant selves again. But I like seeing them take a little heat right now. No group of fanboys deserves it more.
