All of the previous market leaders have made this mistake at the peak of their dynasties. Sony thought they were immune to failure, but they misread the market this gen....Instead of asking gamers what they wanted, they assumed to know what we wanted, or IMO they didnt care because they were alerady on top.....
Game On...
Not sure if they got it "wrong" but they definitely got it before the right time.
To me, they got it right. It's why I own one.
But I think, in terms of mass market, they are a bit ahead of the time.
I think, over the course of the next few years a lot more people will come to appreciate what the PS3 offers. The question is, by being a bit ahead of the time, will it be too late for the PS3 before that time comes? Only time will tell.
The vision of the future that the PS3 offers is also, not coincidentally the same vision of the future that Microsoft has. The difference is that Microsoft wants to offer it in pieces for people to pick and choose from, and they want to control it from development, through supply chain, and straight to being in control of your living room. Sony hasn't, yet, taken the piecemeal approach...there's the only real difference.
Just my 2 coppers worth.
