Well, i remember playing games which i loved, but never realized they were bad because i wasn't into gamespot, reading reviews or getting hyped for a game. Some games i used to love are apparently awful, do you feel the same way?

Yes. There's so many games...I loved when I was younger, which were some of my, and are still my favorite games ever. Then I look at the reviews, and I'm like "Huh?". Games like Jedi Power Battles comes to mind. Playing that on Co-Op mode = totally awesome.

Some of my favorite games of all time were impulse buys

and in the case of Monster Hunter Freedom 2, I'm glad I didn't read any reviews. Would've passed up an amazing series

Its better when every single moment is a surprise

I think I was more adventurous in trying new games before I started reading reviews.

Nowadays I look at the reviews before buying any game.

I usually don't get a game until I read some reviews. One exception though is God Hand. That game got some good and some really bad reviews, but I didn't care I knew I'd love it anyway so I bought it day 1 :D

Yea. Usally my reaction is either "how the hell did it score so high/low" or "I guess I understand this score".

I read reviews a lot more now then I did before. When I was a kid though it was always impulse buys. And they were great. I still remember buying Yoshi's Island for my birthday, and how awesome it was.

I never really read game reviews. I have games that scored low on reviews and wouldn't part with them for any price. MOH Airborne had bad reviews but I found it to be very challenging and all around good. The awards in single player can be tricky and intimidating in the beginning (the wing awards can be very tricky).

Nope, however I don't follow reviews I still give games a chance if I like how the gameplay looks or what the setting is. I loved alpha protocol and it only got a 6.0

Sure, I enjoyed games more when I was a kid and didn't know how to be critical.

Or perhaps I should say I enjoyed more games, because I just got anything that looked good at the Blockbuster without doing research.

if its a game i have been waiting for for a while, tried a demo and liked it, or is a sequel to something i liked. i never listen or even check the reviews.
i find it pointless since i know i am going to like whatever game it is anyway.

that and i stopped trusting reviewers after i realized they get paid off to give high scores to certain games.

There were quite a few times when I was younger where I would really really want a game based on the concept/boxart, and then when I'd get it I'd be massively disappointed. Reviews are good for avoiding situations like that. :)

Reading reviews actually made me enjoy games more since I would research the game before I bought it. I used to just go to Gamestop and think "Today I'm going to buy a game" and end up getting some lame title that had cool box art (I used to buy games based of their box arts when I was younger).

Now if I gain is getting really high reviews all over and I watch trailer/gameplays I can tell if I will like the game or not
