Dragon Age: Origins was one of the most longest games in recent memory.

It took me seventy hours on my first try to beat it, and even then, I left a lot of sidequests unfinished.

I later came back, did another walkthrough, and beat it again. It was that good.

But, I know of a ton of people who haven't beat it. Are you one of those people?

No... I finsihed the danish elf/werewolf mission (a huge maze with trash mobs), mage tower (another huge maze with the fade, though there is a mod to skip it), deep road (another fxxing enormous maze with trash mobs), then after saving the kid of earl, I burned out. I've tried all race/class though to see how the beginnings differniate.

I've beat it twice and played through each origin story at least once. It took me about four or five attempts to hold interest once I got to Lothering, but after finally sticking it out that game had me hooked. Throw in some of the amazing mods available for it and its one of my favorite RPGs this gen.

Get out of Lothering, and it really starts to pick up.

Pity Dragon Age II wasn't quite the same experience.

No. I finished Arl of Redcliffe main quest which included in my run doing the Mage Tower and the Fade (that was long). After that I was just really, really, really bored with the game. When I last played I was toying with doing the Urn quest or doing the Dalish one. I just couldn't be bothered to do either. The game's story really wasn't that interesting. Didn't pull me in at all.

Which was surprising for me since I really enjoyed Neverwinter Nights and KOTOR. Mass Effect was fun as well. Though I never finished Jade Empire but that had more do with me getting distracted by other games and college at the time. I got it very cheap and used so it wasn't a big issue on my mind. I might go back and finish it one day as I did enjoy the little I did play of it.

Overall I found Dragon Age: Origins to be a disappointment. Controls were bad and I knew I should have gotten the PC version isntead of the Xbox 360 one. Didn't even bother with DA2 or even the expansion for DA:O. I usually like to finish RPGs, even if I don't do it the first time around. For example I found myself going back trying to finish off Mass Effect and I'm playing Tales of Vesperia again but I have no regret not finishing DA:O. I just regret buying it.

As great as the Witcher was, I felt less satisfied playing it. The characters were less interesting (with a few exceptions), the writing was considerably drier, and the gameplay was just awful. Only thing going for it was a morality system that mattered.

No doubt, the Witcher 2 will be a better game, though.

I beat it in about 40 or 45, skipped all the fedex and stupid pointless sidequests. Don't see how you can take 70.. you just recruit each part and go for it.

I beat it, but didn't do some character side quests. Took me around 70 hours for origins and awakening. I'm playing again as a rogue, which I didn't even use the last playthrough. I'm doing it much quicker this time though, skipping all the chantry board quests and the like, also skipped the fade.

And the first time I pretty much avoided talking to Leliana whenever I could, her voice just annoyed me so much. But now I actually kind of like her character.

Really? Orzammar as a whole was like 3 hours for me. I dunno. Killed stuff. Had 2 mages and my character was a stupidly OP archer. Honestly it's probably the shortest true RPG I've played in the last 10 years.

Yup. You were so terribly powerful by the endgame is was more a matter of patience while your party trashed normal mobs. I hunted down all the major side bosses just as a pride thing, and then beat the game and sent it back to Gamefly. My roommate bought it later, but I just couldn't bring myself to do any more playthroughs/

Normal, since hard/any difficulties higher usually mean NPC get higher damage/damage resistance soak/HP/etc.,

not like their AI would improve, choosing different skillsets against players with new combos or anything.

I don't get why people keep claiming it was a long game. In terms of the genre, its length was quite average in my opinion. That said, I beat it in about 80 hours. One hell of a game.

The enemies use way more abilities when you raise the difficulty. And yeah, they improve artificially as well. You need really high magic on insanity or else half the time your spells will be resisted.

Played on Nightmare, and purposefully tried to weaken myself by relying on Poison making and trap at the beginning, which became ridiculously overpowered as the game went on. Might rebuy it on PC because I hear it's even harder, but waiting on a good deal for it with all the DLC.

problem is, I was hyped up for the game back when it was first announced couple of years ago and I was expecting a unique and different fantasy world unlike anythig else. What I got was a generic universe that had nothing surprising or unique about it. Good game though, just not what I wanted. The Witcher at least tried a new approach to fantasy and it ended up being one of my favorite games.

I know there is the magic resistance, but it is just another way of boosting damage resistance to mobs. Personally I would rather be fighting against something else instead of twitching mechanics to boost their stats.

It's like if I play D&D, instead of having random mobs getting spell resistance/stat boost/etc. like almost ALL NWN servers do, I would rather see some different creatures, or different tactics (such as they cast spells that grant spell resistance on them, and such)

I'll give you that. Dragon Age's setting was pretty generic as far as I was concerned. But great game, still.

Yeah, but that's $40. And since Amazon and Best Buy have Portal 2 for $35, I'm leaning toward buying that with the extra bit of money.

I'm hoping Steam puts it on sale for like 25% - 33% off. Then I'd be all over it.

I found a lot of the dlc wasn't worth more than a dollar or two. You might as well get the ultimate edition though because it's basically the same price.

It's slightly harder on pc (Nightmare on consoles = Hard on pc), but if you still find it easy I think there's a mod called Nightmare Plus that makes it harder.
