Didn't all the fanboys say "Halo 1.5" some 3 years ago?

Seems that died down after the release.

Seriously, I'm not a fan of Halo, but considering the series only launched last gen, and gameplay has hardly changed since then, I would think the sequels would be very similar to the original. The trilogy involves one continuous story, so what do you expect the sequels to be? Upgrades. It shouldn't be a different game. It should contain everything that fans liked about it, plus extra features they would like.

If you want my opinion on the series, I think it's a fun, mindless shooter with a very nice presentation and a functional but decent at best storyline. Overrated? In my opinion, yes. In yours, maybe not.

It's all opinion, but it's the sheer hatred that astounds me. The Halo hate is irrational on this forum, in that people hate it for the stupidest reasons, and make the stupidest criticisms.

I remember that. I know there are some people who really hate Halo just because of all the hype and praise it gets, which is stupid. I think Halo is decent, it has some good's and some bad's, but it is definently overrated IMO.luigigreen

I sort of agree. I think Halo is a decent shooter, and it by no means bad. No bugs, average story, pretty good graphics, and some nice gameplay. But honestly, Halo: CE was just the right game in the right place, and it's really nothing special. In terms of First Person Shooters, Halo is no way near the best compared to some of the PC shooters out there.

It's praise and hype is not warranted.

The funny thing is that Halo 2 was Halo 0.75 . Sure it had better graphics, but the gameplay just got dumbed down that its was pathetic. Even Bungie agrees that compared to Halo 1, Halo 2 was sorta crappy. So the fanboys were right in a sense.Viviath

i think it has a great story(even though is copies alot) but seriously the way it is told is very good and how you are given insight into both sides of the story. it may not be groundbreaking but the story is told better then the majority of games(shooters in particular).

i do think halo 2 was over-rated though.

oh i do agree but if Halo2 wasnt better than 1, then by logic, Halo 2 has to be Halo(any number lower than 1) thus meaning that the fanboys were sorta right

No, see, this is where console fanboys get mixed up. PC FPS far, far exceed console shooters, and that includes Halo. Games like Half-Life, HL2, Far Cry, Jedi Knight/Outcast/Academy, Thief, Quake 1, 2, 3 - they're all better than Halo.

Thief IS and FPS, it's just that people have seem to forgotten over the years that we can actually make unique and different FPS.

And Halo is not better than those. Quakes are far more revolutionary than Halo, same can be said about the Jedi Knight series. The only game I might question is Far Cry, and that's only due to the cruddy story. The graphics and gameplay far exceeded Halo 2.

I never care if someone doesn't like the Halo series for whatever founded reason. It's all the asanine, completely baseless insults that are really simply to annoy or offend anyone there who likes Halo.

my favourite FPS was AVP 2 on pc that is what got me into first person shooters. the atmosphere that game created and just how it played. i feel it was pretty under-rated.
