Didn't MS sold less 360s in its 2nd yr than its 1st yr?

The total MS gave is 17.7 million (in 2years.)

Ok, 1st year, MS release Gears (EDIT: and no console competition). Didn't they sold around 9 million then.

Then 2nd year, MS release Halo and Mass Effect (EDIT: with competition). And sold less than 9 million....

They are close o.O to keeping the same sales....I think it was more 7 or 8 mil in the first year tbh.

1. the first 2 years 360 had NO competition(even in '06 the other consoles' lineups were pretty much trash)

2. most of the people who wanted one bought it in it's first two years

3. if halo didn't come out this year then sales would be down down down for 360.

and sony consoles have more than one game that sell them

But it has yet to have any real price drop. I dont think there are very few people left in the market willing to pay this much.

Yeah the sales went down and I exspect PS3 to sale anywhere between 10-12 million units by March 2009 form March 2008. It's over for M$ it's like I said before this war started. That didnt help nintendo last gen.

We are only 2 years into the this gen of the new consoles. All the big guys still have tricks they can use. That is of course if they are willing to use them.

The 360 still costs way too much for being in its 2nd year. And PS3 costs too much right from the get go, but they seem to be doing alot better on the price front.

This summer the 360 is getting the 65nm GPU chip so that should help stop the RROD once and for all. Oh and MS should lower the cost of the 360 too around $199 for the arcade and $299 for the Pro. :D

and dont forget that 11.6 includes 1 year shipment + launch shipment (during christmas time).

Makes sense if you're admiting 360 isn't very good after all. Every other console that dominated accelerated in sales the first few years.

Correction for some people who are using the wrong numbers.

It was 10.4 million by the end of 2006.

At launch, they sold 1.5 million. That means from Jan 2006 to Dec. 2006, they shipped 8.9 million. That means from Jan. 2007 to Dec. 2007, they shipped 7.3 million.

However, we know that MS stuffed the retail channels last year. They were probably around 8.5 million sold to customers. Right now, they're probably around 16 million. That means that 1st year from Jan 2006 to Dec 2006, they sold about 6 million consoles and from Jan 2007 to Dec 2007, they sold about 7.5 million. They definitely sold more their 2nd year compared to their 1st year.

ok, let me rephrase my last state ment

halo and gears are the 2 biggest reasons the xbox 360 sells(has sold) so much

if 360 didn't have halo, it wouldn't have that huge casual audience and the sales would be less than half what they are now
