Why the new thread? We could have just stickied that other one and made it official to keep it all in there.

Waiting to see the price. If I can get a good deal for trading in my launch 2TB Xbox One S, then I will so I can get the performance boost in all the 360 and Xbone games.

I was expecting to be blown away but wasn't. I may just stick with my XB1S for 4K Bluray, stick with my i7/1080 & OG PS4 for games. PS5 will come out in 2 years or so and beat the Scorpio in specs.

It runs forza 6 at 4k/60 fps while only using 65 percent of its resources.

I can't say that I was impressed, but I have to see what kind of software they have lined up for this thing. For now, I will stick with the base Xbox One and PS4 Pro until next gen truly arrives. I haven't played a Forza game since Motorsport 4 (got burnt out) so Forza 7 would be a great time to jump in I suppose.

Yeah, I'm excited for that. I like the core series more than the Horizon series.

Can handle an average looking Forza 6 in 4k/60fps but wouldn't be able to handle 5Club or a game like Horizon :L

My initial takeaways:

1) 900~1080p Xbox One-level current gen games will run at native 4K resolution on Ultra settings with equal 30/60fps with room to spare.. "4K/60fps on Ultra" being something that was said to be absolutely impossible to achieve on consoles according to cows and a few other armchair engineers..

2) all existing Xbox One games will reach max performance (max resolutions, max framerates, etc) without any need for a patch or "boost mode".. The full power of Scorpio will run those games natively.. The same extends to Xbox 360 b/c games..

3) 1080p HDTV owners will see additinal benefits with Scorpio where all higher Scorpio settings will be available for use regardless of your display (unlike PS4 Pro) with 4K assets being supersampled down to 1080p with all the other bells and whistles intact and available as well..

4) at the most, this looks to be a $499 console which is more than fair for this kind of performance..

It's for sure a beefy console but I'll wait until E3 for my final judgement. MS still has a long way to go but there's a lot of potential. Lets see what they can do.

It's definitely underwhelming in comparison to what some lems were predicting. New tech GPU/CPU which was pretty much BS. Months of months of speculation to get this slightly better than PS4 Pro machine which was what the original rumors were about, so yeah lots of wasted hype. It is pretty much what I was expecting and told lems to expect, a machine that will run games better than PS4 Pro but not by a large margin and the difference will be difficult to see for the average console gamer like DF themselves mention in the article (they claim that checkerboard 4k for the PS4 Pro mostly does the trick and that it isn't clear if Scorpio will be different enough to make a substantial improvement over how things look). Besides M$ chose to showcase a game that already runs at 60fps and 1080p on the Xbone which is a weak-ass machine so the upgrade to 4k/1080p on that game at least is not very impressive and M$ not choosing a more impressive upgrade could be a sign that the overall upgrades on more demanding games will not be as impressive.

Anyways, as all my predictions came true I think my other prediction will also come true: this thing is DOA unless M$ has a bunch of high quality exclusive games for it.

There is no next gen. This is the future of consoles advancement. Smaller jumps and full backward compatibility.

@Antwan3K: Points 1 & 2 are my favorites for now, I'm stoked a lot of my existing favorites, which I still have tons of playtime on, will get significant boosts. I need to scale back a little my new game purchases, just a little, and work more on my backlog. Do you know if we can preorder yet?

A very successful hardware spec reveal. In my opinion all these specs that was listed before was just that, a list of specs, so today was confirmation that it really is more powerful than the Pro and is the most powerful console confirmed. And beyond the list of specs, the console is just doing so many things under the hood. If you're going to update a console mid-gen, this is the way to do it. Well done MS. When you're ready to get a 4k TV set for your grown and sexy entertainment center, the Scorpio is the perfect all in one true 4k machine that offer a real 4k experience. But if you're not ready yet, they got you covered since they're improving everything else too.

Well then, I will skip a few iterations of the boxes just like I do with my smart phone. I skip two gens before upgrading. I can't wait until iphone 8 puts the headphone jack back in lol.

So, the Scorpio is going to be the only "true" 4k gaming console for this year. I wonder what the response from third parties would be like? Shadow of War is already confirm to be a third party game that will be running at 4K on the system and it supports XBA.

If its 399 dollars not surprised by the specs.

MS says the CPU is custom we have to find out later if its just an upgraded jaguar.

I just want to see Battlefield 1 on Scorpio, as from that we figure out how powerful the console is.

Err new thread I will repeat what my assessment so far are. Impressed but also tempered down from the hype that this was going to play with the pc bigboys. More or less it was built to run xboxone quality level of games at native 4k at the frame rates they were in.

Does not use the latest tech perhaps Ron will have to wait for tear down to see what the custom chip comes from. In that though the pricing will be high but not too crazy. It may miss the biggest advantage I was hoping for, which is to take any current 30fps console game and guarantee 60fps lock starting at 1080p resolution. Setting that up as a base line and ushering that console gaming has evolved to 60fps as the norm.

I have a feeling Sony will announce yet another new PS4 this E3. Whether it's just a slim PS4 Pro or a PS4 that includes a UHD drive. I mean Sony is in the entertainment movie business, so it's pretty embarrassing that none of their consoles doesn't even support the latest and greatest format. With these updated consoles extending the life of this gen, I just can't see Sony bending over and taking it until the end.

It will be up to the devs to upgrade to 60FPS. But at least you will have a rock solid 30FPS downsampled from 4k.

Forza Horizon 3 was 4K/60fps at settings equivalent to that of the Xbox One.

Also 4K/30fps seems to be what it'll be gunning for. 4K/60fps is way out of its reach for most games.

That will be pretty shitty and a middle finger to existing Pro owners.

Sounds good for the most part, but I thought they were going to introduce full 360 bc, and it sounds like it will not be doing that...
