Digital Foundry wrote their thoughts on popular PC gaming controllers , I myself still go with 360 controller because it really fits in my hand better than any other controller , so what do you think system wars ? what controller is more adaptable and better for playing PC Games

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-pc-game-controller-guide

===================================

The Xbox 360 controller : offers the best compatibility and durability we've encountered. Years on, the wired version is still our daily driver in the DF office

===================================

The Xbox One controller: Perhaps we're just too used to the Xbox 360 controller to yield to its successor, but its fragile micro-USB port has already killed off wired functionality on one of our pads. It feels like a weak spot in the design.

===================================

Dual Shock 4 controller :What we really need are some official Sony controllers with proper Xinput support. Input mapper is good enough for now though.

===================================

The Xbox One Elite controller: Yes, it's expensive - but in terms of build quality, response, customisation and basic feel there's nothing quite like this.

===================================

Razer Wildcat: Another premium-priced pad, the Razer has some advantages against the Elite - and durable wired interface - but in terms of utility, comfort and response, the Microsoft pad has the better of it.

===================================

The Steam Controller: it has many admirers and it's a dream for tinkerers, but we prefer the more comfortable, plug and play alternatives.

===================================

Zhidong V Plus: The very definition of cheap and cheerful, this is a decent enough pad, but d-pad apart, the marginally more expensive wired Xbox 360 controller offers a much better experience overall.

Interesting article. I'm still using my 360 controller for 3rd person games/couch gaming on PC. Used my PS4 controller for while, but I got tired of the lackluster battery life wireless. I like the controller a lot, I wish they would've allowed the usage of AA batteries instead of the built-in crap.

No need for anything more than a 360 controller for PC gaming I mean there are better options than a controller for most games

Still rocking the 360 on my pc, prefer it over ps3/4 mainly due stick layout + ps3/4 being a bit too small for my taste

From what I have heard, the Nvidia controller is the best in -console pad.

-Personally use the Hori PS3 Sport pad. It has the best analog sticks( bonus for being gated), the best dpad, and there is also an extra trigger and a spin wheel of some sort underneath the pad--something PC gamers could benefit from.

There's even a range adjustment on the controller.

....highly recommend the Hori.

-gamecube controller ISA good option

-wiiu pro if that's been worked out.

The wired Xbox 360 controller is my go to. The weak Mico-USB port on the Xbox One controller keeps me away from it. It's not really built for wired play.

The One controllers are garbage.

The standard controller is awful and the Elite has the same awful parts just in a more fluid set.

I can't believe how can anyone use a 360 controller after trying the ds4 or the x1 controller. The 360 controller feels,,, bad after using the other two.

I use a DS4 when I'm at the desk and Wireless 360 pad when on the TV.

I prefer the DS4 but I'm more familiar with the Dual Shock layout and find both pretty good, kinda sucks that the wireless 360 pad needs AA batteries though

I don't know why you would think that it's funny to post like an idiot but older posts kind of prove that you are indeed able to master the english language. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I feel like with how I have my computer set up I would yank the cord out too often.

@Wasdie: The thing that i love the most about this controller is that you can always change the cord, i mean even the regular battery charger cable would do the trick , my 360 controller had wire issue and since then i've been so nitpicky about the cord but with this one i'm sure that even the cord gets screwed up i can easily change it.

And you always have the option to go Wireless.

im a steam controller man myself..its realy grown on me. i do wish for a better option to configure it (and improvements are coming in fariness to valve) and a few tweaks to the controller would be nice if they ever release a steam controller 2 but overall its my favourite.

well second fav after the KB+M of course.

@mjorh: Yeah, the DS4 can be a hassle to get running properly and the 360 controller is better, in my opinion of course. I've used the Xbox One controller as well but I still prefer the 360.

To be completely honest I play absolutely everything with KB and Mouse, that's my real go to game controller of choice. The only time the hand held controllers get used is when I have friends round and the PC is running on the living room TV. (I have a wireless 360 controller as well)

@GarGx1: If there's gunplay, i can't play with a controller , it must be KB&M, but almost for everything else i use a controller.

in GTA, i go back and forth , when i'm driving i go with controller and when the shooting parts come i change it to KB&M, lol

@mjorh: For me it's everything. Batman, The Witcher, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, CoD, GTA, Civilisation, Project Cars, Total War, really it makes no difference to me. I'll grab KB/M long before I think of using a controller. The one thing I never play are Fighters, so perhaps for those I'd go for a controller first.

I have a wired 360 controller like everyone else in addition to keyboard/mouse, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and G25 driving wheel/pedals.

I want one of this though.

It's still the 360 controller. Which is a good controller, but I don't get why they don't make the d-pad not suck ass. Would be nice with a working d-pad for fighting games..

My brother has a X360 controller and the One controller, the One has a broken USB port though, cheapo design. Didn't even get to try out it myself :( I pick the X360 pad although the d-pad sucks ***.

I dont understand why everybody is hating the steam controller so much, for me it works great and I can shoot more accuratly with it than with an xbox controller. I also play strategy games with it like total war

Nothing is better than the Xbox 360 or Xbone controller I believe.

But if you want to play true 2D games, than you'd need a better d-pad. The Wii U pro controller would be perfect for that, but it's not really as easy to hook up to PC.

Feels better, has extra paddles, better dpad, has a little more weight, bumpers are better, has multiple profiles, can change what every button does, hairlock triggers and has multiple joysticks and an extra dpad.

Yeah I heard it has a rubberized texture on the back which is nice. But I have that on my Forza and Lunar White Xbone controllers :)

Good to hear it has improved buttons, bumpers and triggers that feel better. But... the biggest problem remains its price point.
