Ok here is the deal.
I did extensive test on both DMC4 on PS3 and 360. i had both games running on the same TV at the sametime.
My PS3 has a nice new Nykko brand HDMI cable will full RGB set to full. And my 360 has a sweet new Monster brand component cable. So we should be roughly even on the best possible cables hook ups for each system and image quality.
Ok here is what i did. I went to several areas of the levels and put the view on the exact same spot for each game running and would switch back and forth between the two. And i would look for lighting textures AA jaggies all the things that count.
This is my conclusion. The game textures are pretty much the same. Although it seems the 360 version has a very i mean very slight edge in picture clarity in a cutscene. Like the one were the bridge falls and crumbles as you try and cross it. in the demo level. But it's so close it's nothing to get your panties in a bunch about.
As far as textures i can not really see much a difference between the two.
The one thing that i did notice is that it seems that. The 360 version has an ever so slight edge in jaggies and AA. Meaning in the timed demo one were you have 10mins, I placed both players on the steps right in the beginning. As you would first come down into the park area. And placed them right in the same spots on each version. And you can see the steps as you scroll the camera. slgihty and slowly. You will see slight jaggies forming on the steps. And yes the PS3 version has slighty more jaggies in this spot on the steps. Again nothing to freak out about. Becuase this is a fast moving game. So you are not going to really stop and look for this. Accept like when you run test like i did.
So my conclusion there is 360 is using a bit of the imbeded 10MB for AA on the GPU that is cleaning the game up a tab bit more then the PS3 version.
Keep in mind i am and have the game preordered for my PS3 and i will get it for my PS3 because i need games for my PS3 so I'm not being biased in anyway. Both games look great regardless.
Here is were i wanted the Hermits to chime in and back me up here.
Over the years Nvidia cards have been known for giving slghty better frames per second over ATI cards. In PC's And ATI has always been known for giving slighty better image quality over Nvidia in there PC cards. And i confirm this myself for i used to be heavliy into PC gaming. So i know a bit about being a hermit myself.
Anyway so what i think is happening here between PS3 and 360. In mutiplat games is we are seeing this ATI having the slight image quality edge over a Nvidia based card. And the only real major advantage the ATI card has in the 360 is the imbeded 10MB ram for free AA in some games. MS was clearly smart in adding this. But nothing major.
So there you go i don't think you will get a more fair and honest answer to all this stuff then i just provided.
