last of us multiplayer has so many quitters its ridiculous. goes to show how many thin-skinned people there are. can't deal with any type of adversity (even forms of VIRTUAL adversity) that they throw a hissy fit and quit so their feelings dont get hurt.

don't get me wrong, i'm sure there are plenty of kids and teens that play these games, but the sad thing is the majority are grown men. there's plenty of emotionally stunted adults out there

I think he is talking about rage quitting or jumping out to avoid a loss. To the TC: Yes... I hate when the enemy quits... but also get a slight satisfaction from it. I can't say I'm innocent either. I never quit if I make it to the end of a game. But if I join a game and immediately start getting roflstomped.. I quit right there... and I mean REALLY getting roflstomped. I wouldn't quit a round just because our team started out behind. There is a big difference between.. oh were losing and this team is a little better maybe we can turn it around but the loss fine because they earned it. and OH MY GOSH THIS TEAM ALREADY HAS 15 KILLS AND WE HAVE ONE!!! - Games like that are no fun to me, more power to the syncronization of the team.. but I can't deal with it for 10 min straight and normally quit.

I see, though most good games have "Leaver penalties" I can see the point. but is the TC one of those morons where they are playing DoTA2 or LoL and despite losing miserably want to "Fight to the end" just to delay instead of conceding when it makes sense? I hate those people far more.

If they do it on XBL, just report them. It is f*cking annoying, especially in battlefield 3 on rush when you lose a base, half the team just rage quits

I haven't played too much dota style games.. but I know what you are talking about. On the flip side though.. there are those that behave like this. *Loses first tower* "OH EVERYONE QUIT WERE DOOMED YOU GUYS SUCK @#*$U)#@%"

I always play on the "Jokers Madhouse" servers because they are simply the best in that game. Mic required and has to be set to team chat. Leads to some great gameplay and teamwork.

How do you know the reason the quit? Maybe they had to leave all of a sudden. Maybe they just got bored of the game and want to play something different. Maybe they just don't like you. All kinds of reasons for a person to leave a game. They could have just lost connection.

If I am getting my ass handed to me I quit because Im not having fun. Why would I continue to play if I am not having fun?

I dont expect to be the winner all the time and I dont mind losing when I am against someone of my own skill range, or slightly better than me because its a challenge and its fun but when I get in a game where I am just getting slaughtered left and right I quit because there is no challenge, just frustration.

I also quit when no one playing is taking the game seriously. They are just yelling and cursing, my team mates dont work together and make us lose because they are screwing off, someone cheating, or any number of things.

Its just a video game, if youre going to get pissed off because people quit out all the time you either have to deal with it or stop playing games online.

wait, you're the one telling me its just a videogame and to deal with it when you're the man-child who's so thin-skinned he has to quit a game to spare his feelings. i'm not the one throwing a hissy fit here, its just an observation i've made when playing MP games. most of these "men" act like children when they're losing. its kind of embarrassing and sad

Sagem28

Yeah I barely notice when it's a team game.

I don't have a problem with people that quit a team game. It would be better to finish out the round, but I can say in a game like Battlefield or Call of Duty if I get in a game that super one-sided, and especially if it's a clan vs randoms situation where it just looks stupid - I will tend to just want to find a better game myself. I would never quit in a game just because I randomly myself got dominated by one other player - but if the whole team was imbalanced (i.e. spawn base raping) I get the hell out. It's nothing about "rage-quitting" either, there's no rage at all, it's just looking for a more fun game.

About the only situation where I can see it being annoying, is 1 vs 1 like you say. Especially if they quit right before the round ends *AND* the game is stupid enough to not count it as a W-L for the stats. It would get hella annoying to be a good player and constantly have to deal with losers quiting.

If someone's being cheap, then that says more about the person who is causing the people to quit. But if the victim finds a way to counter the cheap person, I have a new respect for the him/her.

Online stats cause this more than rage.

If there weren't any public WIN/LOSS or KILL/DEATH records or ratios for people, nobody would quit unless they were simply bored.

But so many games track stats now that people think their personal records are somehow a measurement of their game-playing skill.

Why should I have to deal with adversity, I'm playing a f***ing game not climbing Everest. Obviously you're going to expect a challenge but when the entire enemy team is camping in the same room, or using shit tactics whilst your moronic teammates continuously run into their fire I'd say it's pretty fair to leave that game. Especially in an objective based game where you literally have a 0% chance of winning because of things like that, why should I put up with that when I can leave, find another game, and have fun whilst playing.

If people care enough about their hobby, age isn't really a factor in growing out of being a sore loser. I think the classes people like the play tells you more about their personality than whether or not they quit, though.

Based on the times I've quit out of games? It tells me that the teams you're playing on suck so badly that you not only have no chance of winning, you have virtually no chance of staying alive for more than 30 seconds at a time.

No because video games are just that video games. It has nothing to do with being childish or thin skinned. If I am in a match where my team is obviously being snowballed then I'll just quit the match and go find another. There's no point in wasting time prolonging the inevitable.

Why are you still comparing real life with a game, I play games to have fun, if I'm not having fun, I stop playing that game or I leave that lobby, why is that so hard for you to understand?

Regarding the quitters in Dota and Smite. When Dota 2 was still in beta, people abandoning matches were pretty rare unless you played in low priority matches(horrible place full of degenerates and all kinds of filth :P). I blame the recent influx of quitters in Dota 2 on its change from beta to open release because all these new players still don't fully understand how the game works so they leave out of frustration. I would wager that the same will happen with Smite when it's beta phase finishes. People in beta's are generally more chill because they, for the most part, understand that the game is still in development and thus not everything will work properly. When a game reaches the full release stage then that's when the expectations increase and people start expressing anger.

[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]lol, TC you should really avoid playing DOTA2. I have never seen so many leavers in a single game. Before I got into DOTA 2, SMITE was my game of choice. And I think its because SMITE is more laid back and less "tournament orientated" so people are generally more relaxed. In the year or so that I played SMITE, less than 10 games have had leavers. DOTA on the other hand, EVERY SINGLE MATCH i have played has had a leaver. Sometimes its with the first 5 min, sometimes its 20 minutes into the match, But I have yet to play a complete game where someone doesn't quit cause they got ganked, or they suck and are blaming their entire team for it, or some such nonsense.The_Power_of_X

Nah it0's basically the same, beta or no beta, there will always be a massive amount of quitters in Dota. But the higher you go in ranks/brackets the better the community gets, even if you feel more tension/pressure than when you were a noob, your team will almost always understand your mistakes (unless they're Russian/Brazilian unfortunately).

I don't play with trash talkers or asses. Although being bad skillwise doesn't bother me, I don't mind playing with noobs, but hate ragers.
