think about it Uncharted has got 8 hours of gameplay with no multiplayer wasent that the same reason HS flopped because it was a short game without any replay value? ParadiddleFill
Metal Gear Solid 2 was no more than 12 hours gameplay and cinematics put together, and it's one of the highest rated games of all time.
The original God of War wasn't much longer than 8-10 hours, but it was an epic.
But I don't think it'll get an AAA rating.
on that note i think believe every game this gen should have some kind of online function, or it has to be a very long epic game. I mean games are 60 dollars now why spend that much money when youre only gonna play it for a week?ParadiddleFilli agree its ridiculous we're shelling out more for shorter games, especially games that have NO online they should easily be 15 hours ATLEAST.

yeh but that was back then, those game if reviewed for these gen consoles would of never got the high of a score, why do you think metal gear solid 3 started to have multiplayer?

yeah i know what you mean thats why i didnt buy bioshock, i rented it and returned it when i beat it, when i buy games now i take into account the replay value of the game

Well you're somewhat right, since Konami will be releasing Metal Gear Online. But games with excellent narratives coupled withpimpin single-player gameplay (with no multiplayer whatsoever) can still achieve Triple A status this gen.[QUOTE="elbow2k"][QUOTE="ParadiddleFill"]think about it Uncharted has got 8 hours of gameplay with no multiplayer wasent that the same reason HS flopped because it was a short game without any replay value? God of War III wont have a multiplayer and will beno longer than 15 hours, but it will still be AAA becaue I doubt Sony is going to let one of its last remaining killer apps sink.
Multiplayers are an awsome thing, but there other games that don't need it to achive critically aclaimed status.
failure
-The game is more like 10 hours.
-It definitely has replay value.
-It's not all about length. Shadow of the Colossus, God of War = 2 of the greatest games last year, and also could be beaten 10 hours or less(especiallly SotC).
For a game to get AAA this gen it has to have multiplayer
... or 45 hour gameplay
... or aliens
..... or monsters
.......... or be on the 360

I couldn't care less if GS doesn't give it an AAA score because I know I'll enjoy it. The game has lots of replay value and reason enough to play it again and again. Knowing GS, they'll probably give it to Aaron Thomas to review.
"The game's graphics are amazing but its gameplaysuffers from an identity crisis. I never know whether to fight or shoot enemies so I end up punching the air as I try to fight a pirate 10 feet away.7.0/10" - Aaron Thomas

alright lets compare old games then look at mario 3 it wasent in 3d and it has no online but it still got AAA
same thingHmm well it does have a trophy/achievement system. Besides, most adventure games really don't have an online function, so hence if it gets graded on that standard, then i don't GS will care. Shaqneel
but im saying if its not going to have a multiplayer element at least make it long

Bioshock?
bioshock was overrated big time
I'm starting to hate on-line gameing, cuzit seems if agame dosn't have it then it's crap.shadow32gamer
its not crap unless it has a lenghty single player or else i wont buy it
oh my bad thought the hype was AAAParadiddleFill

well what do you count as a lenghy game?
Nothing I have seen orread would eliminate it from AAA contention. Shorter single player games without multiplayer can get AAA if they are good enough experiences. It has been said that you will want to play this over again , plus it has collectible items and rewards to unlock. Ithas a lot going for it.Whether it gets AAA or not here remains to be seen.

It's not their length that would have changed their scores, it's the fact that they would be technically outdated in a sense(graphics). In reality, both those games are still better than most next gen titles been released so far.
The standard for game length hasn't changed, so stop failing. The average RPG is still average 25 hours just like 10 years ago. ANd shorter games are fine, especially if they have replay value and extras(God of War).

I can respect that, but for a game like this 8 ,or 10 (depends on the player of course) I find to be agoddsize leth.A nice fun experience without overdoing things, and lasting longer then it should. Pulse with all the extra stuff to unlock, and find in the game. Of course this is just my own opinion, and I can see why you would think this game would be shy of just AAA status.

yeah im not saying this game is bad or anything no it looks really good but for me games are to expensive to warrent a purchase or a AAA, the game needs to be either lenghty or have some kind of multiplayer element

the fact that you are bringing up last gen games comparing them with games this gen makes me not take you seriously. standards of gaming evolves from gen to gen. Your point is saying oh look at halo ce it didnt have multiplayer and it got AAA that means that halo3 if it didnt have multiplayer would of still gotten AAA which is just not true

The fact that you think that length has dramatically evolved at all shows me you have no idea what you're talking about.
Standards in how long a game is suppose be haven't changed much. This is the point.
Nobody is comparing the standards of gameplay and game options. We're talking about the standards of length in a game. I brought up last gen titles becuase they're great games even though they're not extremely long.
you = lost.
