I stopped playing games on the PC a few years ago. I just got tired of the feeling that every game was a beta (because I had to patch it every other week to keep it from crashing the computer), or a tech demo (all visuals and no substance), or I'd just get tired of everyone online using mods to cheat (counter-strike, MOHAA, UT, etc).
Then I rediscovered console gaming. I didn't need to spend $1000 on hardware every year to keep up with all the other 1337 gamers with the fancy setups. I didn't need the latest graphics to compensate for bland gameplay.
The Wii, while being an underpowered POS, has taught me one thing. Graphics have evolved enough in gaming to where getting 50% fancier isn't so impressive. I think the Wii could have done with some better graphics hardware, but I think the PS3 & 360 have hit the sweet spot for the next several years. And that means developers can concentrate more on the games and less about the hardware.
Sorry PC fanboys, once you start console gaming its hard to go back to geekdom PC gaming.

The funny thing is minus the insults, that is close to my story. I mostly stopped PC gaming a few years ago. I even kept upgrading my PC, I just didn't game on it.
I am currently enjoying Half Life 2 for the first time on my 360. Why didn't I buy it fo PC? Well, actually I did. And It has been sitting on my shelf for well over a year, unopened. Why didn't I get around to installing it? Well I guess that signing up for steam, installing and getting the game to work, etc, the hassel just outweighed my desire to play the game. I am planning to shell out the extra $30 just to be able to play TF2 on PC, if I ever get around to installing steam. I have the know-how for game installations, and i have gamed on the PC since DOS days. I just really enjoy playing stuff on the home consoles now.
I still love playing some stuff on my PC. I enjoy the classics. Latly System Shock 2 and the original X-com UFO defence have gotten playtime. (Thanks to the awesome DosBox which allows me to run X-com bug-free.) But when faced with a multiplatform release, I choose console. I am probably done running the PC upgrade race for awhile. Yeah, That means I will have to wait for the eventual Crysis 360. (It's not coming to 360!! Yeah, hold that thought.) There are so many good games out right now, regardless of the platform, waitning isn't a prob.
