and that, due to a small install base, that developers will start putting all of their games on the 360 (or at least make them multi-plat), just to make money? Games like MGS4 and FF13? That thread about the iphone dropping $200 got me thinking- and it has been out for less than 6 months. The PS3 had better drop that price, and soon, or that install base is going to get pretty darn stagnant, even well into next year, while meanwhile the Wii and 360 install bases continue to distance themselves from the PS3 further and futher. If I were a PS3 owner, even though I had already purchased a PS3, would be pretty worried right about now about my little "investment." THoughts?
The Iphone was overpriced quite a bit, since it cost apple MUCH less than 600 dollars to make it. The ps3 costs sony probably the same if not more to make it at the price they are selling it. Once sony gets some more good games they will be successful, a price drop to 450 dollars would help ALOT too.
In all honesty, if the PS3 was $450 at launch, i'd of had no problem picking one up. $450 is the highest i'll go though. I think lowering the price just to clear out inventory was kind of a cheap parlor trick on the part of Sony.
Its actually 540$ because it comes with Motorstorm for free.

No, it is actually $599. You cannot count the game as taking away from the price, because you have no choice of game, or a choice in whether you want it or not. It is merely an add-on to a $599 system. If I am wrong, please tell me how I can get the 80gig PS3 for $540, like you said. Thanks.
Yes, the obsolete and discontinued is currently $499. The "current" model is $599.
not really.. most places still stock it... and the older model is better, because it has better backwards compatability, and you can put any laptop harddrive in ps3.
