Only extreme reviews effect my decision to buy or not buy -- in the case of a bad review.  If a game I'm anticipating receives a substantial number of poor reviews, I will not buy it.  If a game I've never heard of, like Odin's Sphere, Okami , gets good reviews I'll check it out.
