Personally, I couldn't care less if a game gets a 7 (or even less) if I enjoy it and there are games that get 10s and I couldn't care less about them. I see scores just as a sort of indication what the majority thinks about a game.

Yes. It can affect on people whether they think if it's worth their money to buy the reviewed game..My first ever preordered game is Medal of Honor and I'm disappointed with such a poor rating. Iwill never preorder any game after the first try.
I think review scores affect everyone decision about games. I mean if there is a game you want and a review comes out for it and it receives a 6 you are gonna think twice about buying the game.
Now i wont buy a game just because it got a high score or something.
These days I rely more on the player score.
Sorry, not shelling out $50 for a game that got a score of 5 from both the professionals and the players.
It's like a **** underground bands, where a few people think they're musical geniuses and just aren't "understood" by the rest of society.

Nope I don't care about scores take Gothic 4 (PC) for example it got mediocre reviews but I'm enjoying every minute of the game. Sure it's nothing like the greatness of the previous Gothic games but still it's a fun and solid linear RPG.

Agreed, I'm just at this moment having a blast with Sengoku Basara: Samurai which got a 4.5 xD All that got a perfect rating of 10 got very fast boring for me :S Only points I somewhat look at are the pros and cons to see if it has broken controls and things like that
Not really.
Some of the best games I've played had scores on GS ranging from 6.5-8.0...as well as quite a handful of games that I felt were shallow, boring pieces of **** that received 9's across the board.
renting no score doesnt matter. when im set to buy a game i do check reviews before i spend 60 bucks
Yeah, I don't want to spend a full blown amount of money for a poorly made game and reviews are the best way for me to judge whether the game's worth buying.
To me the score doesn't mean much at all, I've enjoyed games that haven't scored well (the Crackdown series for one) and I've disliked games that scored perfectly (Metal Gear Solid 4). What I care about is the complaints made by the reviewer. I've seen reviewers talk about how bad a game is (just look at Gamespot's AvP review...) when none of their complaints really make sense if you look at the game being reviewed.
The content of the review is much more important than the final score. If I agree with what the reviewer says then I'll definitely let a review sway me on whether or not to get a game. If I don't agree with the review I'll look around for some reviews I can agree with or attempt to find someone I know with a copy so I can put in some hands on time with it.
I usually enjoy games above 7.0 but there are some exceptions of course.:) There are also many AAA games that I did not enjoy (inFamous, Braid) despite them being highly praised and such.
I'm currently playing through Spider-Man Shattered Dimenions (7.5) and I'm enjoying just as much as Batman Arkham Asylum (9.0), actually a little more because of the fan service the game provides.:) On the contrary, I really didn't enjoy Star Wars Force Unleashed (7.5 also). So as you can see, it's very subjective from one person to another.:)
yes, i do care about the scores and most importantly , the review itself. i don't wanna spend my money on a poor game that's not even worth trying, unless i played the demo and i liked the game that's different story.
i always watch gamespot and ign's reviews but sometimes they don't do justice to the games.
I care. I still play and enjoy low rated games but I still care. I can love a game and still give it 7, I can hate a game and still give it a 9. Its called being unbiased.tomarlyn
I'm with this guy really. But there are times where reviewers are spot on with their scores.
Score mean nothing to me on this site. It's laughable at time. The only site that says an 8.5 score is a flop. lol!! Go to Gamerankings or Metacritic for scores that actually have some meaning.Personally, I couldn't care less if a game gets a 7 (or even less) if I enjoy it and there are games that get 10s and I couldn't care less about them. It's laughable to think that Gamerankings and Metacritic scores have more meaning than a single review site tbh.
If you're going to care about scores, and reviews then you should attempt to find one or two review sites you find to be credible. You can't honestly think a number means something when it's a combination of dozens of potentially biased reviews.
They help me decide whether I should buy a game that I'm interested in, no score (even a 10.0) could get me interested in a game that wasn't interested in before.
From official reviews? Yes. If the scores are low, I'd find out why. If it was dinged on something silly like multiplayer when it's obviously best as singleplayer, then the game is still a winner in my book.
From user and popular reviews ? Nah. Too infested with fanboys and haters.
