Seriously this is getting old. There are not just three games. Nintendo releases alot more than that and even the third parties do more than that. How about you stop being such a noob and look at whats really there instead of what you wish was there. Dont just fall into the crowd and repeat what they say. Look at the game library.
While the gameplay keeps evolving with the 3D Mario games and the story that never changes is accepted here, it still would be nice to see a change. Zelda on the other hand definitely needs to be revamped into something different and soon... I've never cared for Metroid so that series can do what it will.

Maybe because Square doesn't do direct sequels with a never changing story and over used characters? Every FF with the exception of a couple has a new story, and a somewhat different battle system.

People play what they like. If you don't like it then that is your prerogative, it doesn't mean that what you don't like is of lower quality than the things you like. Be objective for once, seriously.

I personally love the Mario games SM64 - SMS - SMG all of those had their unique gameplay which I found awesome. TP was still really good. I think its going way too far to call it bland.
ANyway I dont get why everyone says that there are only 3 games. If anything right now is like the best time to own a Wii.

What are you talking about. Each month Wii sells more software than the competiton with a few exceptions to the 360 selling a little more. The Wii sells alot ofgames and its not just Wii Sports and Wii Play. The Attachment rate is 6.07 games per console. Most of the top selling games are the best games on the system. This whole idea about everyone playing Wii Sports for five minutes is a myth.
I mean, gta 1 had 3 versions. gta 2. Then gta3, vice city, san andreas, liberty city stories, and vice city stories (5 games in one gen). I guess gta4 was a mistake then, according to you
I'm a bit bored of them and that's why I haven't bought a Wii this gen. I own a Super NES, N64 and Gamecube and I'm just a bit tired of the similar themes and gameplay. They're excellent games don't get me wrong, but I'm trying different genres this gen...namely fps, so I'm passing on the Wii.
But Metroid: Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission are part of the main "Metroid" series (technically so is Hunters but my views on Hunters is highly biased and fraught with negatively weighted opinion). If the Prime games count, so do the handheld games, they are all "Metroid."
I do not think it matters whether or not they are console games or not. Metroid is Metroid.
