Do special/limited editions entice you to buy a console?

*Whether it is to jump aboard the console generation or just to simple replace one you currently already have. There must be a huge market for this as we are getting more console paint jobs than ever. This year alone, we already got the Batman edition PS4 with the new Destiny and MGSV PS4s to come. One Microsoft's end, we are getting Forza 6 and Halo 5 designs. The crazy part is that we even expect more by the end of this year! Maybe a CoD PS4, most certainly a Battlefront PS4 and possibly a Tomb Raider Xbox One.

They would need to be something special and/or offer a worthwhile value. Of course price is also a consideration

No I have never had that urge. special games are what encourage me to make the plunge.

I'm going to buy a ps4 when Street Fighter 5 comes out. And truth be told I really wanted to get the Wii U. However I have to follow the game that I want to buy. A different coat of paint for consoles and controllers makes no difference to me.

Sometimes. If I actually need the console and it's the same price as a standard one. Not going to go out of my way to get one.

No, I'm more of a default kind of guy when it comes to my systems, I like the original models.

Hmmm, well I went with the white consoles this gen, which were sort of special editions (no designs).

Me personally no cause 9 times out of 10 I already have that consoles and don't see the need to rebuy it just cause it has a new paint job.

Nope. I do have the Mario & Luigi Dream Team 3DS, but It was only by chance second hand. Other than that I'm all stock.

Well every current gen system i own is a white limited/special edition console so i guess you can say yeah.

Got my FAT PS3 from Hong Kong way back when because it was significantly cheaper than the UK model with bugger all difference (HK uses the same plug as UK). Apart from X and O being the wrong way around (which I fixed later on with custom firmware) it's now indistinguishable from the UK version and still works.

My PS4 I got from Amazon for just under £270 with 3 games which, two I sold on eBay for a little over £30 each after fees which also stacked with an eBay deal to get £25 for free for selling within a specific time frame, so ended up getting a PS4 and a game (the last of us) for £210 + £25 from ebay, thank god for Amazon screw ups and eBay offers.

Generally I don't buy limited edition consoles because I tend to upgrade my consoles to the slimmer models when they're released, so there isn't much point spending the extra on them. Such is the case this gen... I already have an Xbone, and while the Halo special edition is tempting, it just isn't worth it because I'll probably swap it for the slimmer model which will probably be coming next year (I'm assuming).

Plus I've had bad experiences in the past, where I had a limited edition console which broke down and I ended up having to swap back to the normal model anyway.

Don't think I ever have but if I was going to buy one anyways and it's a good deal (which there are usually better ones) then it would be worth it

I only buy Zelda skinned limited editions if they exist, regular otherwise.

I say no, but good prices on limited edition bundles do temp me into buying them. On Black Friday I love to buy Nintendo special limited bundles.

If it's bundled with a game that I would actually play. That has yet to happen.

I want to buy a mass effect xbox one... But since Bioware is taking their sweet ass time saying anything even closely detail oriented about Andromeda, I'll probably get something before then. .

I got the Gears of War and Halo 4 ones, never got the other three, MW3 and Halo Reach iare not THAT cool looking and the Star Wars came with that stupid Kinect.

I've never owned one to be honest. Once I have the console I don't go and buy a second unless its a gift for a family member.

I just want normal consoles, they're just plastic boxes to me.

No not usually because I don't care about the look of the console too much, but if it looks great that is not a bad thing either so if I am in the market for one I will get the one that I think looks best.

I like the minimalist approach in my room setup, the least clutter possible....so my console is very visible, therefore it is part of my overall room look so if I can I will get the best looking one but it's not usually enough for me to get another console only for that reason alone, there needs to be another reason as well.

Nah. Some of them look nice, but I like my consoles to be black so they match the rest of my equipment in the living room.

Nope, most of them are uglier than the original console.

No, I generally don't like the appearance of them. OK to look at but I wouldn't have them in my lounge as I like things understated and minimal in there.

I usually get the basic version, but I would rather have a special edition

@Alucard_Prime: ya man, black or white... Or even better, the armor weaving of the n7 armor with the red stripe and the n7 logo somewhere off centered along the top. I can see it in my minds eye... I just need them to make it so I can buy it. Lol

I like the controllers that come with some of these systems. Like that Halo 5 controller, but my next controller is going to be the Xbox One Elite controller so I'll be holding off on ordering any other controllers for a bit.

Unless it's tied to a game I really love, no. But the Majora's Mask N3DS was the whole reason I have my n3DS now (although I lost my preordered MM one because of shenanigans, and I'm still mad about it). But it has to be a game I really, really love. Otherwise, no.

Yep! special edition consoles do inspire me. I bought the Gears of War limited edition Console S 320GB Xbox 360 which came with 2 matching controllers and the Gears of War 3 pack in game. Even way back when I bought the Nintendo 64 Atomic Pak Which only featured an extra atomic purple clear controller and no pack in game. But mostly I just buy the console at launch. Once every now and then I will buy a special edition console.
