Do these games really deserve their 10/10 scores?

What games that got a 10/10 actually deserve their score from GS?

Metal Gear Solid 4: I believe deserves it score. I hated the other games in the series but this one is amazing.

Zelda: Ocarnia of Time: I beleive deserves its score. I still play it to this day, and it is still my favorite game of all time.

Chrono Cross: I never played this game so I have no right to say whether it deserves a 10/10 or not. I heard its pretty amazing though.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3: Dont think this game deserves a 10/10. I personaly thought Pro Skater 2 was a way better game, and this game doesnt strike me as being 10 material. I would have given it a 9/10

Grand Theft Auto 4: Dont believe this game deserves its score. Dont get me wrong, its a great game. I hate how much they downgraded from San Andreas. I would have liked it to take place in a different part of the world. 9/10

Soul Calibur: I dont belive this game deserves its score. I loved this game when i played it, but it felt just like any other fighter. I didnt see anything that really stood out about it. 9/10

SO i want to see what everyone else thinks.

Ive only actually played Tony hawk 3 and GTA IV and i feel they both deserved the 10.

at gs, only oot so far both gta4 and mgs4 are 9.5 games because:

gta4: hey stripped alot of vehicles from past gta games, ALOT of cheats were disabled.

mgs4: boring first 3 hours, way to many cutscenes, the voice acting is cheesy as hell.

the rest of both games is awsome.

Chrono Cross is easily the best game I've played in my entire life. Even to this day.

I don't feel MGS4 deserves it. I don't feel Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 deserves it. GTAIV doesn't deserve it. Soul Calibur didn't deserve it. Hell. I don't think Zelda deserved it either, coming from an extreme Zelda fan.

Its all opinion baby... dont hang on a reviewers words like its life or death, make your own review and call it a day.

The only game this gen that deserves a 10 score is Portal, which of course did not receive one.svetzenlether

the song during the credits alone was epic enough for a much higher score

Of course, everyone has their own opinions on games. But there's no disputing the review scores handed out by other people.

GTA IV doen't really deserve the 10 rating because it just gets broing quickly, but Metal Gear deserves it Lief_Ericson

MGS4 has been out for about 3 or 4 days right?
Let's try to see if that statement works again in a week's time.

Of course, everyone has their own opinions on games. But there's no disputing the review scores handed out by other people.

Im just asking people wheteher they agree with the revews these game got or not. Im trying to add something new to the table for people to discuss.

Accurate translation is GTA4 got a 10 and so did MGS4... does that mean MGS4 is basically like MGS2 (Vice City) but not as fun? Or does GS do so many bogus reviews that now they've lost it and give honest classics the same grade as a rehash? If what they say about MGS4 is true, somebody will be pissed when they pick up GTA4 and think, "Wow, this game is supposed to be as good as MGS4, i'll buy it"

I hope all these "4 is the new 10" sites calm down and seriously find a review system that can seperate a classic from a game thats just pretty good. You'd think a number scale would be pretty easy, but apparently it isn't.

I think MGS4 deserves it, i haven't had so much fun with any other game so far this gen.

As for GTA4, i don't know. For me it would never be a 10 because i'm not a big fan of sandbox games in the first place.

i agree: thps3, GTA4, and SC all deserve 9.5 IMO.

OoT deserved a 10.

GTA4 deserved a 9.5. I loved it but it boring pretty quickly after beating it. All the others deserved 9.5 (I haven't played Chrono Cross or MGS4, but when I get a PS3 later this month I'll see if MGS4 deserved it).

GTA 4 - no IMO i loved the city and the gameplay, but it didnt really do much in terms of story or in variety - the missions were all basically the same

MGS 4 - im just about to start act 5 and so far id say yes, the more i think about it the more im sure, theres loads i havent done (like stealth so far :P) and on the replays the cutscenes can be skipped, great story amazing gameplay

orange box - still just better than MGS4, but only just, its the best value for money ive ever owned, and one of the best gaming experiences iv had - 10/10 anyday of the week IMO, should have been here

Not really. The quality can be inconsistent, and it takes 7 hours to get to the overworld map.

Honestly Soul Calibur and LOZ: OoT are the only two that I truly think deserved their 10's. The others didn't, especially the last three that were clearly undeserved.

Okay, this is the first time i ever post at gamespot, but i have been keeping up with system wars for about 4 years. ( Not to be amused with these little gamewars among gamers ;), but for this is a great place to get information about games really fast! )

I think OOT deserves his 10 out of 10 score completely! I justed started playing GTA V ... the other ones i never played! But let me get back at OOT! Gamespot's review, among others, called OOT flawless ( for it's time, it was IMO ). For doubters i quote ' Ocarina of time definitely follows in the footsteps of the previous games, and the result is a game that can't be called anything other then flawless ' and ' In a word, perfect. To call it anything else would be a bald-faced lie. '

The controls were perfect, the sound was perfect, the world was, back in that day, really brought to life with an awsome story! It was a game that was revolutionary! Even for it's graphics ... From the review: graphically, ocarina of time is simply unmatched! EVEYTHING was the best for it's time!

Now, lets get back to todays standards! GTA V and MGS V! Beautifull crafted awsome games... i will never play the last so, even i'm in xbox360's favor, i can't really judge for myself! But do they both have perfect controls? maybe! perfect graphics, the best for it's time ? no .... ( and 20 min. loadtime is just too much ) revolutionary ? no... inspiring? yes! It only think games that really offer a so called ' best in everything experience' deserve a ten! For example, one of my favorite games ever ' halo: CE '. It did everything so well, but it wasn't revolutionary! it was a 10 out of 10 experience for me, but in the world of gaming, it's not ( as it should be )!

That's wat happened, reviewers enjoy games like a 10/10 experience, and they judge it that way ... without thinking if there's more behind that experience! But in gamespots case, they can't give MGS V and GTA V a 9.9 or 9.8 ... with there stupid review system... we'll never now if they were REAL 10's! But IMO a 10 is a game that gives you a 10/10 experience in a perfect way, and more!
