Do we really think the PS3 can catch up to the 360?

Does anybody here actually realize how far ahead the 360 is?

The Xbox 360 has shipped 18 million consoles worldwide, the PS3 is yet to ship or sell 10 million yet.

So what is up with all of these PS3 fanboys saying that the PS3 can take the lead over the 360 in 2008? Do you realize how imposible that is? For that to happen, the 360 would have to sell absolutley nothing at all, and the PS3 would have to sell close to one million consoles a month....................obviously not going to happen.

PS3 fanboys act like the 360 is not going to sell at all during 2008 and the PS3 will get all the sales. Sorry, but the Xbox 360 is still selling incredibly well.

Since the PS3 is roughly 10 million consoles behind, it IS impossible to catch up to the 360.

Well...... 360 is dead in Japan.

When PS3 has another price drop in the future ($300 or less) it will sell like hotcakes in Japan (and no doubt the rest of the world)

... Now, I don't have a PS3 (being a 360/PC user) so don't call me a cow.

But just look at how many PS2s were sold last generation; the war has not even yet begun in terms of current system sales (unless you want to bring the Wii into this :P )

You do realize that the impossible has happened for Sony before; being the first company to destroy Nintendo's marketshare and take away their popularity, and the fact that the PS2 is a best selling behemoth, managing to sell over 100 million units. Dude Cerberus owned your face lmfao! He's 100% right Sony has already achieved the impossible many times and when I look at worldwide sales for Japan and Europe PS3 has already gained significant ground in both of those market's in a short period of time. I'm a 360 owner and I bought a PS3, I love them both but 360 coming in 3rd is inevitable at this point.

Not only can it happen, but I think it WILL happen.

Some cows are saying by the end of the year- unless all of the "big games" for the PS3 are AAA, I really doubt that. But I'd guess by the end of this console generation, the PS3 will be ahead of the 360.

Generally I don't see people saying it can catch it this year, just eventually. I think it may happen. A lot can change over the course of 3 years.

Ok, lets say the PS3 does overtake the 360 sometime in 2010 or 2011 (highly unlikely) it would not matter.

By then the next gen of consoles would be ready to be released and if the PS3 takes over the 360 it would hardly matter.

360 doesn't have as many big hitters as sony does next year, which should push some units in favor of sony. who knows, perhaps the mass media will pick up on metal gear solid, and it will become a craze, and ps3's will sell like mad.

you can't predict the future

First off, as most of us do, you are generalizing. You are saying ALL cows have said 2008. Not true.

2008 will be a great year for Sony. titles to equal or better the best titles on 360 are out this year. And sales are on the steady uprise. Anyone with any smarts knows PS3 will NOT surpass 360 in total sales this year. But it will be a huge push.

The main point made by most insiders predicting a PS3 overtake is that it won't be until later in the gen. and we really don't know a winner until the next-gen system come out and this gen can be looked at as "over" in many ways. And anything can happen in that time frame. Nintendo and Sony haven't even been out 2 years yet.

This is well...Sony's big year. They need a serious year to contend with both the 360 and Wii. I'm saying not like 16 million sold by the end of this year, but like 20 million. They want to contend, they need to hope people start buying alot more PS3s.

This is well...Sony's big year. They need a serious year to contend with both the 360 and Wii. I'm saying not like 16 million sold by the end of this year, but like 20 million. They want to contend, they need to hope people start buying alot more PS3s.

-MS has shipped 10.4m consoles before wii and ps3 was released , wii surpassed ms totals back in sept 2007

-MS cannot sell any 360's in japan while the PS3 will be good for @ least 15m systems sold in the next 5 years ,it's just enevitable ,MS will come last this generation

wii is @ 20 million

360 is @ 16.5 million

ps3 is @ 9.25 million

the way MS releases their consoles , expect a new console from MS in 2009 lol .

Haha yeah that would be pretty funny if they did.

But one good thing, is that you never make the same mistake twice. Hopfully they have learned and will test their next console more.
