I dont know but to me they seem like they could be easily rigged. Anyone can 'PAY' to have the best numbers if they want to show thier console in the best light if ya catch my drift.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I don't think they are "rigged" but they also are exactly correct. I'm pretty sure they don't get the numbers of a few retailers including Wal-Mart which is pretty huge in the retail world.
So the numbers aren't 100% correct or maybe even 90% but its the best thing we got next to VGchartz which loses 500,000,000,000,000 points of cred by having a freaking Z in place of an S.
While i think they are not perfectly correct, I do believe they are a very good (close) indication of actual figures and its the only means of having an idea how systems sold..
You have to admit its a little weird that PS3 keeps getting outsold. It's the Playstation namebrand afterall. Something doesnt sit right with me here.[QUOTE="bronxxbombers"]
There not. You're sore cuz the PS3 got outsold.rotaredom
A name does not guarantee success. I love my PS3, but it doesn't have to be number one to fit my needs.
a company that provides services is only as good as their name, if the NPD group were to do dirty dealings even once it would taint their name in all of the industries they work in.I dont know but to me they seem like they could be easily rigged. Yeah, but the US is like 70% of the gaming market for PS3 and Xbox.yeah but NPD numbers is US figures only right?

this thread title was so Fail, but i was curious to what the TC was gonna say, and unfortunately it was more fail. NPD does not rig numbers, and is not paid off by Sony/MS/Nintendo. Please remember that we are in System Wars, and the nutjobs who say that x pays x off to review or lie about x system is not how the real world works. The numbers have never been in dispute up until today with your post. Yes we all know you have a fanatical obsession with the PS3, and would sacrafice your 1st son for it to sell more, but facts are facts.
The playstation brand is losing its appeal, esp. in the US where 360 is king. The xbox brand is everywhere. Madden, gaming competitions, movies, etcYou have to admit its a little weird that PS3 keeps getting outsold. It's the Playstation namebrand afterall. Something doesnt sit right with me here.

People do not seem to realize the PS3 is at $400 (at least in SW anyway)
The NPD seems to be the most credible source
but are they "really" credible? That's what we have to examine. I'm not convinced.[QUOTE="thelastguy"]

NO! they hate sony and are payed dozens of dollars to pad MS and nintendos numbersps3 got out sold not because of games no more but because of these remaining factors
500 is the asking price ,of a 3 yr old console,
250 should be a nice point by now, as bluray players them self run at 199 at walmart,
wii should be 149,99 ,
but in the end its still the cheapest thing-xbox arcade does not count as it does not have a hard drive, and most 360 users by now need one ,
i do believe the numbers, they are missing a few sales for all 3 but they still got them pretty much intact
also software will always not all be recognized theres to many , egcondoit , or kz2 , why these aint on lists by now, ugh beats me , like i said they miss a few but , ,
ya
whos a shamed to own a ps3 honestly, i own all ,7 supported forms of hardware excluding pc ,
and they all have their pros and cons,
its about pricing ,to most especally in a recession , , its bad enough bills pile up , for most,
and then sony goes and charges an arm and a leg for a 360 like console with a blu rAY DRIVE
seriously, thhats just sonys fault not ours just like its microsofts fault for the unreliable ness of the 360 , ,
and i cant say wii did anything wrong it was more like the third party being lazy at the begining , slowly got better though , i still think cap com is not in their right mind ,
we all know re5 can be done on wii , they just to lazy to do it just like all the other devs making turok etc not on wii ,
just give us different games in the franchise then , ,
for example nfs nitro , thats a good start ,
had they had 2 seperate teams or one team do 1 version at a time ,all 3 consoles wouldnt have this excuse -not worth so and so ,
even ps3 needs its own library because it seams as though 1 it uses bluray and with these 6 gb 360 ports , they arent getting the benefits from them
each console as i said before has thier drawback , ,
and you cant blame well us for not wanting to support an expensive product , ,
that has nil when it comes to exclusives - besides those of sonys, they should have like i said 1 game from the series of games on each console ,not porting back and forth,
yes some big budget games but not all these turok prey etc like games, we know these didnt tkae the effort ,
[QUOTE="Fizzman"][QUOTE="rotaredom"]but are they "really" credible? That's what we have to examine. I'm not convinced.

Well....one of the reasons PS3 is one of the biggest disapointments ever, is because there are still ppl who believe its the best just because their systems have "playstation" on them!!!
Actually Playstation brand is not kicking anybody´s ***. In fact, their systems are being outsold by both Wii and 360 everywhere except japan, the smallest market...

When was the last time you spoke to your congressman about anything? Video game sales reports are hardly where you'll find "the tough questions that need answers" in life. And I seriously doubt any video game company can cough up enough cash to buy NPD's good name - they'd basically be throwing away their entire market research business. MS would lose less money handing out 360s on street corners.I ask the tough questions that need answers.
